I recently surprised my husband with a weekend getaway for his 50th birthday. We arrived on Friday morning and made our way to Key Biscayne. It was a wonderful stay, the condo is well appointed. We had all the amenities of the Ritz Carlton, while enjoying more space and savings compared to the hotel room rate. You really could do without a vehicle, we took the shuttle provided by the city to dinners off the Ritz property and even walked back to the hotel one night. We had a great time, would stay here again, with a longer stay next time.
After reading a recent negative review, I was nervous, but after stepping foot into the condo, I realized the previous negative review was completely untrue and unfair. This unit is beautiful, spacious and really comfortable. It was incredibly clean. The bed was SO comfortable. The bathroom is HUGE. It has high ceilings and feels so light and airy - perfect for South Florida. Ana Maira was easy to work with, super helpful and friendly. You get ALL the amenitites of the Ritz Carlton with the space & convenience of a condo. We can NOT wait to return!!!
Although the condo is spacious and the hotel was nice with great service, we found that our experience was less than ideal. First, if you have a car please be aware there is a garage parking spot associated with this unit. We were not made aware of this and had to ask AFTER paying 3-4 days of parking through the hotel (plus tipping the valet on top of $35 per day!!).
We found bugs and a few roaches throughout the kitchen after a few days of staying there. Yuck! The coffee maker is outdated and there were plenty of forks and only a few spoons. There are no basics (paper towels, kitchen towels, dish washing soap). Only 1 cooking pan.
Down comforters were stained. There were plenty of bath towels. There is no maid service.
There is a washer and dryer but it is a European all in one unit and the dryer feature didn't even work.
There is a TV in the main living room but the TV in the bedroom did not receive any digital channels.
Overall, we were disappointed with how much we paid and ultimately what we were surrounded with. Although this is a privately owned unit, it is located in the Ritz Carlton and should keep up with its standards.
The owner was responsive to my emails but the bug issue and not being given the property information (which included the parking situation) before our stay, was a deal breaker for us.
Sorry to say that despite the nice hotel, their excellent service, good food options, great family pool, we would not recommend this condo to others. Also, it was made clear that there is no view - this is absolutely true. This unit is on the 2nd floor and the view is only to other surrounding buildings and sitting on the small balcony, the view is of an ugly rooftop.
We stayed in this apartment recently instead of renting a room through the hotel. The hotel is beautiful and the service impeccable. It was a great choice if you enjoy having more space. All of the important perks of the hotel are still available like the welcome arrival champagne or water, the Concierge service, the pools and beach/chair service, etc. We save $$$ and enjoyed not having to use valet and had an assigned parking space for our rental car
TIP to travelers: consider foregoing the airport rental car hassle, grab the shuttle bus from airport $25/$15 and rent via Hertz directly at the hotel. Everything was handled by the Concierge – our car was put in the unit’s assigned space and that’s where we left it when we checked out. Super-easy.
The unit opens into a foyer, the kitchen is straight ahead, and the living room and dining rooms are off to the left - balcony off the dining area. The large sectional has a chaise end and it made a great extra bed when using the sheets and blankets in the closet. This area also has a large closet and there are plenty of cabinets. To the right is the large master bedroom a walk-in closet with a sliding privacy door. Also on this side is the huge bathroom with two sinks, large tub, separate shower, and water closet with bidet. There are lots of cabinets and a closet with a small combination washer/dryer, great for drying bathing suits.
Only thing we had to buy were paper towels and dish soap from the grocery store.
The hotel restaurants were outstanding and the pools beautiful. All and all a great choice for Key Biscayne.
Just returned from our 8th stay at this resort. We have stayed in various units and this one by far is the largest unit we have rented. The master bedroom is separated by a french door and another sliding door. It is on the second floor and has very high ceilings which gives it the illusion of more room. The patio does overlook the rooftop of the spa and there is a tiny peek at the ocean but no real view other than that. There is a constant "hum" of the ventilation of the spa, and an occasional can rolling around on the roof but you get used to it. Our girls slept on the large sectional and claimed it was better than a sofa bed. There is also an aero bed if needed. Our king bed was quite comfortable and the ceiling fan was great in both rooms. Kitchen was equipped with the basics. I think there are plans to redo the bedroom furniture to match up with the chic Miami feel in the living room and dining room. A nice touch is the black out roll down shades which block out morning sun and late day sun that can be quite hot. We didn't used the washer/dryer but it was good to have in case. Cleaning staff came in a few times and left plenty of towels and supplies. The wood floors were great but would have been nice to have a broom on hand to sweep up stray sand from shoes and sandals. This is the way to go at this resort. I would definitely go back and the owner was efficient with setting up the reservation. Thanks!
If you are debating whether to rent this unit or stay in a hotel room at the Ritz Carlton don't.
We stayed here in November and were very impressed with the unit, which was renovated literally the day before we came in. For less than what we would have paid for a standard hotel room at the RC we got a one bedroom apartment with a washer/dryer, great for washing the kids clothes and which allowed us not to pack so much. Check-in was just like checking in to the hotel, we got a room key from the front desk and they took our cc for room charges, and we could order room service or food from the restaurants and bill it to our room. There were plenty of towels, toilet paper, etc, in the bathroom and the kitchen was fully stocked with silverware, glassware, pots, pans, etc. There were also beach toys for the kids which was really nice because we didn't need to go out and buy any. The owner is very responsive and a pleasure to work with. We would stay here again if we return to KB, and I recommended the unit to my friends who live in Miami for their out of town guests.
The hotel itself is very nice, beautiful family pool and separate adult pool. The restaurants are of course very expensive but that's not unusual given that it's the Ritz. Lots of great and more reasonable dining options very close by, and most places deliver.
