Although less than a ten minute walk from several small theatres, cinemas, noted restaurants, buses and underground stations, there is the illusion of being in the country. The large south facing garden surrounded by trees is free of traffic and set up for outdoor living.
The dining room, under an award winning soaring glass conservatory, opens onto the garden and to a fully equipped kitchen.
From the central hall is a double living room and a playroom. Original mouldings, shutters and fireplace remain. Above are two double and two single bedroom. Two bathrooms; one is ensuite with a Juliet balcony over the garden. Two additional WC's.
The area is called Barnsbury in Islington, close to the British Museum, University College, British Library, Almeida Theatre, Chapel Street Market and several bookstores and restaurants in lively Upper Street. The West End, City and Museums are all within ten to fifteen minutes by bus or cab. Our one- way street is quiet, leafy and safe.
For small children, there is a rocking horse, sand pit, wendy house and tricycles. Older children can go to a nearby park with tennis courts, swimming pool and plenty of space for ball games. For adults, there is broadband access and a place to read the papers over coffee in the sun.
The house is usually available during the British School holidays: October, Christmas, and Easter as well as single weeks other times. In the summer, we offer a 6 weeks rental period during August and September At any of these times we would be happy to welcome a single person or a couple. Although there are more beds, the house is not large and adapts very well to one or two people.
We would hope that the house and garden would receive the care and consideration given to a home rather than a rental unit.
No Smoking, Please.
We are an academic couple who have lived in this house as our family home for many years.
Now semi-retired, we are away a lot so offer in our absence, our modest but quite ideal home and garden to discerning couples or families. We hope you will enjoy the experience of living here as a resident, who know his way around local street markets, theatres, pubs, shops and restaurants.
Tourist London is easily accessible, but quite different.
