I love the beauty and natural landscape Golden has to offer. I am an avid outdoor enthusiast that can't seem to get enough of the great outdoors! I can often be found out on my cross country skis. Or in the summer months I'll be out for a run, enjoying a hike or soaking in beauty of the Blaeberry River. In my work life I share my passion for health and wellness with others. I can often be found perusing the shelves of a local health store, sourcing local food, or puttering in my kitchen making delicious food with a glass of wine in hand! I hope you enjoy this mountain retreat as much as we do.
Barb Davies purchased this cabin in 2009
A comfortable, beautiful home which served all our needs as a family of five, We enjoyed the beautiful hikes close by and anticipate another visit in the future.
I'd recommend this property for anyone looking to escape the hustle of city life. It's a beautiful space with everything you need to relax and enjoy, as well as a great spot to come back to after an adventure in the mountains. We were really looking forward to the firepit but had a bit of a rainy night and missed out! We spent a weekend there with a group of girls and we all left relaxed with big smiles! Barb was great and attentive and we're so grateful for our stay!
This place is in a nice location. Near the river with trails all around and surrounding forest giving it privacy. The open concept kitchen, was well stocked with supplies and worked well for talking with the other guests. The 4 bedrooms gave a good amount of private sleeping options and there were 2 nice bathrooms. I enjoyed the big covered deck for having coffees in the morning watching the sun come up. I really like the style of the cabin to the timber frame with the family room open to the second floor. We will stay again. Thanks for the lovely time.
I would like to say that the pictures of the cabin doesn't do it justice. As soon as we walked in it was beautiful, it was just like home. The only down fall was that it was a bit of a drive to the ski hill, but over all it was well worth the drive. We were a total of 4 guests and each of us had our own room as well.
We'd initially planned on the Cabin being our jump off spot for a weekend of skiing and snowboarding at kicking horse but when we'd arrived the resort was in terrible shape and not even worth putting our boots on. However because we'd opted to stay at this wonderful cabin with an awesome kitchen we turned it into a bit of a dinner party weekend. We played board games, had a fire and ate wonderful food. I'd recommend this for anyone whether it is a weekend in or as a staging point for adventure.
Recently my wife, daughter and I met for a four-day fall get-together. My wife and I live in Calgary, our daughter in Kamloops, so Golden was a nice 'in the middle" meeting place. Our daughter went online and found this amazing home in the forest, and it was perfect for us. The calm and quiet of being in the forest, although only a 20-minute drive off the highway. And all the amenities of a warm, comfortable, fully equipped modern kitchen and many other amenities. We played board games inside, with a fire going. And we barbecued and ate on the deck, surrounded by forest, with the occasional visit by a deer or ruffed grouse. And we went for walks to see the landlocked salmon spawning. For us it was the perfect combination of an oasis in the forest, surrounded by mountains, and a modern, fully equipped home-away-from-home on the inside.
The cabin is gorgeous! we spent the weekend there and it has everything you need, it really shows how the owner cares about this cabin as it has a lot of special details, it is very quiet and yet a short drive into town. I really recommend it if you are looking to get out of the noise and chaos of the city to relax and enjoy nature.
The Blaeberry Valley has much to offer including hiking, biking and cross country skiing. Local attractions include Thompson Falls, The Rocky Mountain Buffalo Ranch and The Wolf Wildlife Centre. Golden is a short 20 minute drive away with restaurants and local amenities and boasts driving proximity to 5 national parks. There is no limit to the recreation and adventure available.
