Overview

Cabo Matapalo Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Osa Peninsula, Rich in fauna and flora, tropical peaceful setting.

Casita Tranquila is located on the Osa Peninsula on the South Pacific coast side of Costa Rica.

The Osa contains five per cent of the worlds plant and animal species.

The Casita is in a shady tropical forest and a one minute walk to a secluded beach.

We have many species of tropical trees and plants including banana, mango, papaya, avocado, guanabana, orchids and much more.

Wildlife includes, howler monkeys, white face, squirrel monkeys, sloths, birds include scarlet macaws, toucans, hawks, parrots, tanagers.

The casita has a living room with kitchen and bar, bedroom one has a queen bedroom, bedroom two has a double bed and a single bunk bed, for a total of five guests.

The kitchen has a three ring gas stovetop, ceramic countertop and bar top, all cooking untensils, an ice chest for perishables. Please not we are off the grid and the Casita does not have electricity, repeat no electricity.

lighting is by candles and rechargable lanterns, although its best to use just the candles as bugs are attracted to white lights.

The Casita is screened and we have nets over the beds but certains times of the months a few manage to get in.

Hot shower, sink, and toilet are set in a tropical garden outside the bedrooms.

Living room has a large sofa, dinner table and bar.

There is a deck with chairs in front of the living room to relax and enjoy the ocean view and wildlife.

There are no phone booths here so suggest bringing a unlocked phone with you and buy a sim card at the international airport from the 'kolbi phone desk' as you pick up your luggage and before entering customs, the card is rechargable.

The Casita is 60 yards from our neighbors who stay there December through March, sometimes they have student groups who you may hear at times, we have no control over jungle noises or people in the distance,or loud ocean waves so please come with an open mind.

About Roger Blakemore

After living in England, Australia, New Zealand, Africa, and the USA I decided to live a simpler life by moving to the amazing Osa peninsula which is one of the most pristine and beautiful places on earth. Coming here can be a life changing experience.

Roger Blakemore purchased this cabin in 2000

Why Roger Blakemore chose Cabo Matapalo

We have the perfect location on the beach and in the jungle surrounded by so much nature and wildlife, the property is very secluded but you can reach the local town Puerto Jimenez in twenty minutes by car, taxi or local bus.

We are off the grid, at the main house we have solar power, the Casita has lithium ion batteries for lanterns and fans, we also provide candles for romantics. your phones and laptops can be charged at the main house.

What makes this cabin unique

We have amazing views of the forest, ocean, and surrounded by sounds of the ocean, birds, monkeys and much more.

So close to nature and wildlife - a slice of paradise!

  • 5 of 5

It is hard to believe no one has left a review for this place yet...perhaps everyone who has been wants to keep it as their secret! The cabin and it's location are excellent. We saw such a lot of wildlife from the house itself and it was a real pleasure to feel so close to it all in the rustic (no electricity) house. The cabin is just as described - and even the photos of the wildlife are accurate as we saw scarlet macaws, monkeys, iguanas and a coati in the house grounds. Wild enough to feel in the midst of the jungle, but close enough to the road to easily get en route to Corcovado National Park. We stayed here 5 nights and loved it. The beach out front is rugged, but almost entirely yours and you fall asleep at night to the sounds of the jungle and the waves. Had a fantastic time here.
