Having looked at over 80 properties for purchase in the Bershires, the Taggart House is truly unique. This property is perfectly situated within 15 minutes of all the amenities and attractions in the southern Berkshires. This fully restored Victorian estate is a 5 minute walk to the center of Stockbridge, yet quietly situated on 3 manicured acres along the Housatonic River.
The Taggart House is the perfect home for entertaining. With six large bedroom suites, a large formal dining room, a billiards room, an eat-in kitchen, a cozy reading room, a huge family room, and an optional grand ballroom for events, the Taggart House is both hospitable and opulent.
Our entire extended family spent 5 days in this amazing house! Each bedroom was beautifully decorated, with comfortable beds and large private baths. The main floor is spacious, yet welcoming. The large kitchen had everything necessary to prepare 2 turkey's with all the trimmings. We dined in the elegant, yet comfortable dining room while breakfasts and lunches were easily served at the large table in the kitchen area. A blanket of snow covered the area for a beautiful winter setting as we gazed out the large windows or sat in the sunroom. The pool table provided a great point of focus for family fun as did the large living room with a fireplace, plenty of seating and a big screen TV.
The town is a brief walk from the house which added to the ambiance and convenience.
I would definitely stay here again and am curious to see it in the summer too!
We were four couple with 6 kids four and under celebrating a special birthday. The house was amazing. There was plenty of space and all of the bedrooms came with private baths. There was a formal dining room, a pool table room, and a very comfy family room with a large fireplace. The kitchen was very well stocked and the backyard was fabulous. It was flat with a tree house and kids 'house'. The kids ran around outside while we sat comfortably in the 'conservatory' chatting. George was a pleasure to work with and I would highly recommend this house.
I was looking for a fitting vacation home to incorporate and accommodate the needs of a family of all ages: from children 2-7 yrs. of age, their parents in their 30's and grandparents as well. Taggart House was the perfect fit! The home itself is a beauty; it was so apparent that the landlord handled this property recently purchased by himself with so much love & great care. All elements of the home in its description were fulfilled beyond our expectations, and that is a rarity today. And most importantly, the landlord was a pleasure to deal with; prior to our arrival, I was able to tell him some of our specific needs & he happily fulfilled them. The home is in a perfect location, close to any & all activities for all the ages described and within walking distance as well. Parks, restaurants, farms, orchards, pony rides, water activities, etc. can be reached well within a 10-15 minute car ride. The kitchen was fully stocked with all that one could need, a new BBQ had been purchased with brand new tools, twin washer/dryers were available and even a brand new crib & high chair had been purchased! What more can we say except that this is the 3rd summer home that we have dealt with on VRBO and by far, the only one to totally live up to its expectations! We would recommend it to any family or friends looking for a spacious home with lovely surroundings.
I recently stayed at the Taggart House with my family. Everyone from my grandmother to my 2 1/2 year old loved this house. The location is walking distance into town and a quick drive to the neighboring berkshire towns. The pictures of the house were spot on. The owner took the time to make sure every detail was attended to: proper stocking of kitchen equipment allowed us to cook comfortabley for breakfast, which was enjoyed in the lovely eating area, to dinners which we enjoyed in the amazing formal dining room. Each night we enjoyed wine in the screened in solarium and pool in the gorgeous billboards room. The house is equipped with Netflix so we could also watch movies all together in the comfy sitting room. Each bedroom was prettier than the next and they all came with their own bathroom. My Dad checked his emails in the cozy window seat at the top of the staircase and the house has wifi, which made it easy to keep in touch. We loved this house and hope to be back in the future.
My family and friends stayed at the Taggart House over July 4th weekend. Despite the relatively short notice of our booking, everything was very nicely prepared for our arrival. The pictures online certainly don't do the house justice, it's an absolute gem. The bedrooms, bathrooms, and living spaces are beautiful, very clean, and spacious (at one point, 12 of us stayed there comfortably). Particularly exceptional features were the pool table, the kitchen, and showers. Due to the house's age and enormity, there was some expected muskiness in the larger rooms initially, but they aired out nicely by the first evening. The house is a very short walk from Stockbridge town, which has a number of charming restaurants, and a short drive from the Stockbridge Bowl lake and a large supermarket. George was a wonderful host: he was easily accessible, while affording us our privacy. We definitely plan to return to the Taggart House in the future!
