Relax on a large deck (with a complementary bottle of wine) and enjoy the fantastic views of the Nottley River and distant mountain peaks. New in April 2005, Cedar Chalet on paved, dead-end road that offers privacy, peace and quiet. Property goes down to the Nottley River 200 feet below the Chalet. The river is great for trout fishing and we have just installed steps all the way to the river. From the deck you have a year around view of distant mountain peaks. At sunset we have seen several Canadian Geese, deer, and turkeys come out or land in a large field across the river.
All bedrooms have a view of the river with a large sliding glass door in the master bedroom (King bed) that lead onto the deck. The upstairs bedroom (king bed) has its own private deck. The large family room has wall-to-wall glass windows and sliding glass doors that provide a fantastic view without going outside. A stone rock fireplace with gas log is at one end of this room. The dining table can be extended for seating six and two bar stools provide additional seating on the back side of the cabinets.
The Chalet has almost 2300 sq.ft. The basement has a bedroom (double bed) a bathroom, a sitting area with gas log fireplace, a sofa bed a card/game table and a full size pool table and TV. Two single roll-away beds are also available in the basement. A double glass door opens onto the lower deck with a swing. A six person Hot Tub is on this deck with a great view of the river. Thirty feet below lower deck is a fire pit with panaromic view view of river. A sun deck is 20 feet below the fire pit.
Situated between the Cherokee and Nantahala National Forest, this area offers an outdoor paradise. Nearby attractions are Lake Nottley with boat rentals and boat ramp only 5 miles away. Lake Hiwassee is about 12 miles, Anna Ruby Falls, Georgia (three-fourths hour), Appalachian Trail (two-thirds hour), Alpine Village of Helen, Georgia (two hours), Atlanta, Georgia (one-and-one-half hour), and Cherokee Indian Reservation (two hours). A large Flea Market is three miles away. A newgolf courseis 6 miles away. Another course in Murphy is about 10 miles away and has a nice resturant. Two others are 20 miles away.

Bill Clifton purchased this chalet in 2005
Found this wooded lot, cleared it and designed this 3 Bd/Rm house with the best view around. Only 3 other houses around and can spend several days here without seeing anyone.
3 Bd/Rms on three levels for privacy, with full pool table, card table and hot tub.
Our two families got together for the first time ever and we thourghly enjoyed ourselves and your wonderful home. We loved exploring the area and smimming in the river. You truly have an awesome cabin. Thanks for the memories.
Our second stay at this beautiful Chalet which exceeded our expectations last year and repeated itself again. Distant mountain views and rushing river waters relaxes the soul and mind in this quiet and private setting. Extremely clean, charming mountain décor and well equipped to make one feel at home. The lower level made a great "mancave" for my husband with a big screen TV, game room in rustic furnishing. The Hot tub and fireplace welcomed us home after a day of hard playing one of the many mountain activities conveniently close by. Easy accessed paved roads with driveway/parking perfect for a trailer with our two Harleys. Perfect for motorcycle enthusiasts with endless scenic rides in all directions, including The Tail of the Dragon, Six Gap, Joe Brown. Moonshiner, Wayha and Cherohala Skyway to name a few. Although it was just the two of us, we plan to return with our grown children to share the fantastic fun and beauty this area has to offer!
This is a great cabin centrally located to all the area activities. We went white water rafting, zip lining, kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, visited the lakes, hiking, and over to Ruby Falls. The paved roads were nice and the cabin has easy access and good parking. It is very private out back with views of the mountains and of course the river. The kids enjoyed the pool table and ping pong and having a separate TV play area in the basement. They also enjoyed roasting marshmallows over the fire pit. The cabin was very clean and had everything that we needed. The owners are very nice to work with and really take good care of the property. Highly recommended.
Five stars in the maximum VRBO uses so that's what we gave this home. Should be more stars. Fantastic views of the river and you can hear the river flow from the decks, but not so loud to be distracting. It's a long way down the steps to the river, and seems longer coming back up. We stayed at BJ's Over the River in January, actually hoping for snow and colder temperatures. We were lucky enough to get both. When it snowed combined with the wind, it briefly obscured the view of the pasture across the river This is a lovely home that you can tell the owners love as their second home. The photos are accurate, but do not do the home justice. The gas log fireplace in the living room was great, and when the morning temps were in the teens, it warmed the living room up very nicely and quickly. The home was clean upon arrival and there were no maintenance issues during our stay. The living room furniture and the king beds in the 2 master bedrooms were very comfortable. Access to this home is all on good paved roads and near Murphy, NC with shopping, restaurants, and just about everything you need. All our interactions with the owners were very positive.
Excellent view an area, more than pics would say. Thank you to the owner that communique and help us all the time. I will be you constant and rental friends.
Though we live in Murphy, we had a number of guest coming in for motorcycle riding in the mountains. As we all have full size Harleys, we wanted a place with a paved driveway yet close to home, as Murphy is the perfect starting point for great riding. BJ's could not have served our purpose any better. Easy access in and out for the bikes. The house is fantastic, and the view overlooking the river beautiful in the morning mist. All the primary needs for guests are available in the house. Just bring your clothing and food stuffs. We were able to show our guests all the beauties of our area in a wonderful setting. Would highly recommend to anyone, and especially those looking for some great riding.
We had an awesome week at BJ's Over the River! The chalet was even better than expected. My daughter, sister, niece and myself totally enjoyed our girls week and plan to make it a yearly event i possible. We will definitely want to come back to BJ's. The chalet is very large and spacious and very well kept. We did travel down the steps to the river and I can tell you it is a hike back up. The hot tub saw a lot of use. Mainly we just relaxed and enjoyed each others company aside from a white water rafting trip a Paddle Inn which we highly recommend as being reasonable, professionable and fun. We also took a day trip to The Lost Sea in Sweetwater, Tn. I will gladly recommend to everyone that BJ's is the place to stay.
Dead end paved road with paved driveway. Have the only (private) steps in area that go to river, which is good for fly finshing.
