|Minimum Stay||3 nights|
Experience the natural beauty of Hawaii in this small, charming cabin on the gorgeous Hamakua Coast. An adventurous experience on a totally self-sustaining off grid, property. This lovely, all solar shelter is partially screened on three sides at the edge of a tropical rainforest. With a view that sweeps down the valley to the ocean, the lodging has it all: peace, quiet and beautifully landscaped grounds as well as all necessary amenities. Fully furnished, it includes propane refrigerator and stove. The separate bath house (a true Hawaiian feature) contains a flush toilet, hot shower and a garden.
The lush grounds grow flowers; fruit trees and a small coffee orchard. Sheep and a cow add to the pastoral feeling of this estate.
A short walk through the grounds leads to the structure itself, which is privately located at the far side of the property.
Centrally located, on the Hilo side of the Island, the property offers easy access to many tourist attractions: volcano, Akaka Falls, botanical gardens, Waipeo Valley, plus hiking trails and water activities.
Resident friendly dogs and cat on the property.
I also stayed at this place when I was in hilo in jan,2015. the place is clean & very quiet.u wake up to the sun rise with the animals in the field.such a scene!! :) it is secluded & away from everything, perfect getaway!! good for a quiet time!!
If you are looking for a great place to stay that will reduce your carbon footprint on the Big Island you should book this solar, self-sustaining cabin immediately. Our little cabin was wonderful and the price could not be beat anywhere on the island. The view of the ocean from the property is fantastic. The kitchen is stocked with everything needed to cook and eat a meal and there is an additional common-area cabin available to sit in to eat or just enjoy the pastoral view of a cow and numerous sheep grazing with the ocean in the background. Perfect for two people. Mary, the owner, was very helpful and gave us a tour of all of the vegetation on the property. It is definitely a hideaway but well worth the effort to get there.
Truly restful, the cabin is simple and elegant. Quiet and private, an afternoon nap is possible! Out the picture window is the bucolic scene of sheep and a black cow in an emerald field, ocean beyond, big sky cloudscapes.
Located far enough from action to be "hidden" and feels as if time doesn't exist. Near enough to go out for dinner, but I enjoyed the small kitchen for meals. Sunrise and sunset are pretty sweet there. In the evening the scent of night blooming jasmine wafted on the cool breeze. In the morning, watch the sun break the horizon and color dance on the clouds.
A real retreat.
Wow, this was a lucky find! Save your money for shopping, eating and travel expenses, you get to stay longer on this magical coast with this hidden gem! We experienced life off the grid, on the edge of the rainforest,- in simple luxury. Clean, and newly renovated, Sweet separate bath house added to the charm. Our gracious hostess knew just where to go and what to do, and provides lovely grounds and amenities to just relax and enjoy the breezes and the birds. Hilo and the beaches and markets are all within easy driving distance, and the property was easy to access. highly recommended, as is the larger cottage on the estate, which we got to peek into! There is even a private enclosed gazebo for guests, suitable, I'd say, for a party or event.
Everything was as described on the website. An excellent value for a rental. The grounds are absolutely beautiful, and the sunrise views are living paintings. Very quiet, with the exception of the natural wildlife, which was welcome. The owner was very knowledgeable and gave us some good pointers to plan our days. If you stay here say hello to Bumble ( the cow) for me. We will definitely be back!!
WOW!! What a find. this treasure has it all. We loved the view and the grounds and the cabin was comfortable, cozy, cute, clean and met all our needs. Centrally located to many tourist attractions,we highly recommend the glamping camping cabin (which offers so much more than your typical camping experience).
Mary was the perfect hostess and had answers to all our questions as well as many helpful suggestions.
We can't wait to come back and visit the Garden House Hideaway Glamping Cabin again.
This property is centrally located on the Hamakua Coast to many tourist attractions: volcano, Akaka Falls, Hilo town, botanical gardens, Mauna Kea and its world class observatories, black sand beaches, plus hiking, swimming, biking, snorkeling, swimming with the turtles, boating and many water activities.
