San Juan del Sur Townhome Rental Photos and Description
2 Br, 2 Ba Town Home 2 Blocks From Beach, Five Minutes To San Juan
Welcome to my home and to my heart. Yes, my house is more about feelings than about features. While it’s a beautiful place, it’s the sense of peace and tranquility and wonder as you enter. You open the door. Then you blink. Twice. Your gaze goes to a wall of windows that brings nature in, right in front of you. Want views?? Just walk to the window. That, too is what Casa Lucha is all about. San Juan off to your left tucked in the hills, the Bay in front of you. Wow, you say! This is why we chose San Juan, why we took a chance on Nicaragua – yet this was unexpected!
Sit down, open a beer or soda and take it all in. Then, when the nerves are settled, look around. I want this dining room table, you’ll say! Where do I get this couch and living room table?? Well, it’ll be hard to find up north, but here the wood-crafting blends in with the wooden trim, handrails, bamboo ceiling. What I have found is that my friends walk in and immediately take in the view, then with affection start feeling the wood and the surfaces and they want the same. Well, this is all yours; for a week, two weeks, month or more.
Why waste space with walls? As the photos show, the floor plan on the second floor is open with a fully equipped modern “chef” kitchen (yep! Blender for your fresh fruit smoothies!). I love to cook and MUST have all the culinary conveniences! However if you’d like a gourmet meal prepared by a world class chef, I’ll arrange that as well. Want a traditional Nicaraguan meal? No problem. So, whether you want to cook the fresh fish caught daily, or sample gallo pinto – the Nica traditional lunch and dinner, we can arrange all that for you.
The kitchen then flows into the dining room and living room and then to the patio and you know where you’ll be spending most of your time! Try to lift the dining room table. It was too heavy and large to be carried in and thus had to be assembled in my home. Watch your lower back if you try to lift it – I have no liability insurance! Comfy couch, TV (yes, cable, large new flat screen). You can now watch the news or Super Bowl in one ear as the waves provide a soothing background for the other. A DVD player , books, another exquisitely designed table in front of the couch with books galore and reading nook complete the picture. Don’t get too relaxed, the true adventure is just steps away from the front door. But, to make sure you are prepared for the new culture, I have Spanish study books so you can face the local townspeople with confidence!!
Just when you think you’ve seen it all, you enter the main bedroom. I spend time here and wanted a “serene” feel – the tranquility that a bedroom should have. A brief “oh my goodness” moment as you stare at the ample king bed with designer comforter (sorry, Kenz my huggable is not included, but feel free to bring your own), wood sliding glass doors, the garden, pool, tree of all trees and vista directly in front of you! You have a fun and modern/natural bathroom with stream stones and double sink. There’s a walk in closet for your vacation wardrobe – one bathing suit, 2 pair of shorts, t-shirts, a few blouses and sandles. All the bedroom furniture is handmade – again, you can’t take it with you - but, yes, I have Wi-Fi throughout, so you can keep in touch with the REAL world – sending photos or more likely telling your friends to come on down! Or better yet, you can ignore everyone, just for a little while. This is a vacation, right?
Outside on the patio, where I like to spend quality time, there is a hanging hammock chair. Once you get in, its hard to get out!! Or, sip a cup of local premier java siting at the café-like table with rustic designed bar-stools . Enjoy breakfast “al fresco” as you watch San Juan and the fishing boats slowly wake up.
Descend the stairs – again, the hardwood tropical stairs are a knockout and at the bottom on your left is bedroom two with a “custom designed bunk style bed but with queen mattresses instead of twin. That’s room for 8 depending on size. It too has its own bathroom, again in the unique style that still surprises and delights me.
This is my home. I talk about it with reverence, pride, delight love and peace. As I mentioned it is my paradise to relax, contemplate, Yoga on the roof patio, relax after a beach run or read in the afternoon shade. It has the style of “Amy”… it’s my home. It has the modern Nicaraguan feeling with my own touches. This house is not just a “rental”. I don’t look at he ROI. It’s a place I love and I know you will too.
Oh, last thought! At night go up the winding staircase outside to the open roof. You have a choice. You can look at San Juan del Sur as its nightlights glimmer and warm breezes cool the land. Or…my preference is to lie on my back, feel the warmth of the day sun, and, as your eyes become accustomed to the black sky above, you’ll suddenly know that what you are looking out is the real one and only MILKY WAY, in a way you have never seen it before. It’s real and for the rest of your tropical vacation, it’s all yours. Soak it in. But, try not to get too relaxed out here in the night sky or you’ll find yourself waking up to the early morning dawn.
This is my slice of heaven. The peace and serenity in my get-away has a way of lowering your pulse, lowering your blood pressure. You WILL try to figure out how to extend your time, just a few days more. That is what Casa Lucha is all about. That’s why I live here and I welcome you to my home.

Amy. A restless child since day one. Traveling, exploring, asking a zillion questions and never being one to take 'no' for an answer. A lot of us from that era were like that, but I think i stretched my parents limits. Does my picture look like I went to a woman's finishing school? Hardly.
Sound familiar to any of you? Often people who come to Nicaragua may have a variation of that in their blood, otherwise, why Nicaragua - and not Club Med in Cancun? It's dangerous, bullets are flying, Sandinistas are everywhere and its 'third world'.
I spent my professional lifetime traveling the world - everywhere from Mexico to NYC to Tokyo to Singapore to London to Kuala Lumpur and every place in between. Though I've been living in a major SE metropolis for quite a while, my restless spirit has never left me. I used to play in a band, we toured and had a blast while imagining the platinum records were just around the corner. Still haven't found that corner, but still enjoying life to the max. You could say I'm a creature of habit - but the habit being change, re-inventing myself, always being consistent by staying in shape, eating healthy, living by a set of values that define my way of looking at life, caring about the less fortunate and always willing to try something new; especially if it has a 'growth' characteristic in it for my personal development or to help others - or our planet!
In this life I've seen many cultures and I've picked up many ideas about different lifestyles and how others express themselves, in their art, architecture, clothes and more. Thus, in my home you will also see that diverse lifestyle of mine represented in furnishings, both old and new, modern and traditional styles - above all a sense of comfort and peace. Sometimes when i'm relaxing here, I compare it to my 'other' life and say, Amy, chill, relax for a while, you can do it here, just RELAX! - and then go off in search of my next adventure!

Why Amy chose San Juan del Sur
When i was a child i was always curious about the world in general. Where is that country, why do they speak different languages and more. I began to develop a longing to have a place I could call home, in a different country, that I could resonate with. Let my hair down, relax, hang out with a friendly array of locals as well as other adventure minded 'gringos' such as myself.
I had started my career in Mexico, on an impulse - but a determined impulse and that commitment took me all over the world and has enabled me to look at the world through my own prism. When I decided to find another home away from home, I instinctively thought of Latin America. I always felt at home here. I always loved the people and their openness drew me closer. So when i was looking around for my new abode, I looked south and found Nicaragua and after a number of other trips I found the people here to be the friendliest and loveliest people I'd met - and San Jun del Sur fit the bill perfectly. I am not a Miami, Cancun, Vegas girl, that's for sure.
I met a knowledgable real estate broker (ask me about her) and we went everywhere. Looked at lots, resorts, condos and homes and more. When I saw this place, and loved its location, views, feeling of nature, and saw - and 'felt' the work, creativity, craftsmanship, as I've mentioned earlier, I knew this was it. I bought it and there hasn't been a day i regret that decision.
There are beautiful homes, 1-10 miles from here. Awesome homes with views that reach Tokyo but I chose an area that not only has this beautiful home of mine, but is in a neighborhood of warm friendly people. It is a stones throw to the beach and town. Walk across the 'Golden Gate Bridge' as we call the pedestrian bridge 5 minutes away, and you are in town. Minutes away, you are here. My home is special. This neighborhood is special. The people are wonderful. I know them and they know me.. This is what I call HOME - and you will too.
