This property is a nicely decorated and well-furnished one level, no-step, two bedroom, two bathroom home that is located at the end of a cul-de-sac in a lovely, quiet residential neighborhood of Gordon Head. The property is only steps away from grocery stores and a public transit system that will take you into downtown Victoria in approximately 15 minutes. There are many well maintained hiking and biking trails that lead to nearby parks and recreational facilities. The Gordon Head recreation center with swimming pool and exercise gym is only a 10 minute walk and the nearby University of Victoria is only a 15-20 minute walk from the house.
We are a retired professional couple living in beautiful Victoria B.C. Don is a geologist and Jackie is a teacher. Our primary residence is also in the Gordon Head area of Victoria. We have lived in this part of Victoria since 1979. Don grew up in Victoria and Jackie is from Smithers in northern B.C. We have 4 grown children and 8 grandchildren. Three of our children and 7 or our grandchildren live in Victoria.
This property has been in the family since the early 1980's when the house was built. It originally belonged to Don's parents but now serves as a second house in the Gordon Head area. Part of the year the house is occupied by Jackie's sister and her husband who live in northern British Columbia. From May through October the house is available as a long term vacation rental.
This is a second home that is vacant for a few months each spring and fall. The home is a one-level, no-step rancher and is ideal for older couples who might have difficulty with stairs. The house is conveniently located only one block from the University Heights/Tuscany Village shopping centers. Public transit is located on Shelbourne street, a 4 minute walk from the house. Mt. Douglas Park is nearby and offers beaches, hiking trails and a chance to experience a west coast old growth forest. The Gordon Head Recreation Center is a 10 minute walk from the house where you will find a swimming pool and fitness room. The University of Victoria is also very close and the house is ideal for visiting professors working at the university.
The house on Marcola has a very private back yard with fruit and birch trees providing shade and privacy. Sit on the covered patio and enjoy this peaceful oasis that is so conveniently located to the city but almost rural in its setting.
There are 3 grocery stores, 2 private liquor stores, 4 restaurants, a library, recreation center and numerous hiking trails all within easy walking distance of the house. A place our grand kids love to visit is Bow Park, about 5 minutes from the house. Here, you can feed the ducks that live year round in the pond. There is also a resident deer population in Gordon Head and deer sightings are a common occurrence. To get to downtown Victoria use the excellent transit system. The closest bus stop is only a short 3-4 minute walk from the house. It only takes 15 to 20 minutes to reach downtown Victoria.
