We had a lovely stay in Waterville. The house was huge, clean and in near two amazing golf courses. Owner was very kind and helpfull. If you have kids: be aware of internet use. The internet card Mary bought you runs out fast when your kids watch video's through the internet. We know now...
This home in Waterille was a fantaststic place for our group to base or golf trip to Ireland. We put 6 adults in the house and had no issues with privacy or space. The house is clean and bright and we all felt very welcome in the home. Mary was great and gave us a warm Irish welcome and made sure everything was in order for our group. Definately like to go back.
My wife and three adult children spent a truly enjoyable week in this splendidly-furnished and equipped house in Waterville on the Kerry coast. Just a five-minute walk from the centre of Waterville village, it was just what we had hoped for and were expecting from the listing, only more so. We enjoyed good weather but were (almost!) wishing it had been colder so that we could have made use of the open fire, for which our very helpful but inobtrusive hostess, Mary, had supplied a good stock of turf and logs.
The village caters very well for visitors, with a number of good bars and restaurants (we enjoyed our meals at An Corcan, Sheilin and the Butler’s Arms), tennis courts and two small but well-stocked grocery stores. We travelled around part of the Ring of Kerry and the Skellig Ring, visiting Caherdaniel and Derrynane, Ballinskelligs (beautiful beach), Portmagee and Clochancanuig beach (good for surfers). We also fished on Lough Currane (no success but great views of the surrounding mountains) and travelled to Dingle for the day to visit friends - a bit of a trek but worth it.
We would definitely recommend this house to friends and very much hope to visit again ourselves.
Thank you, Mary, for a great week.
We just returned from a week in this lovely house and are looking at dates already to see when we can return. It was the perfect holiday rental, well appointed, comfortable, well laid out and really spacious. I would highly recommend it for families especially or groups of friends. You won't want to leave.
While looking for a place to stay on the Kerry coast for the week, I came to the conclusion that there are not a lot of premium properties on offer. For our family the prime considerations are modern property, plenty of space, a few restaurants in walking distance, washing and drying facilities and internet access. Thankfully I found this house!
From the description we could see that this offered all we needed, but it wasn’t until we had settled into the house that the full benefits of the house were clear. On top of the requisite we got four large bedrooms in a very quiet, but very accessible spot in town. Under floor heating and a real fire for the chilly first few days and a large garden for when the weather turned better later in the week. The place was immaculate and Mary had gone out of her way to make sure that all you needed in the house was there.
Waterville is an ideal base, positioned in the most beautiful part of the Ring of Kerry but less than a hour drive from Killarney and the mountains. We did most of the ring, Dingle, Killarney and managed a trip to Tralee as well. As always in Ireland the weather can make or break the holiday and we were very lucky there, but it would be difficult to be dispirited if you had to spend time indoors!
Thanks Mary for you and the house making our stay special. If want a house on the Kerry coast you would be mad to look anywhere else.
The property is pretty new and in great condition. There was plenty of space and Mary (owner) was wonderful. She answered all our questions quickly and accurately during the selection and was very helpful in narrowing down the shortlist of properties.
On arrival, even though it was late, she met us at the property and made sure we had everything we needed, even checking back with us the next day.
The venue was perfect for our needs. Waterville is very peaceful and the cottage is well situated. There are beautiful drives in all directions and a lot to do and see. The windy mountain roads are gorgeous, but not for the faint of heart! From the cottage, you can walk into town for a bite from a selection of restaurants, pop over to the local inn to watch a game of rugby, or stroll down to the beach. For fishermen, the local sea trout run is superb and many pubs sport trophy fish mounted and displayed. There are several grocery stores in close proximity, one in walking distance and several others a 15 minute drive away.
I would highly recommend this property to anyone wanting the true Irish village experience.
