About Paula Sociedade, Ph.D.
I was born on the island of Sao Miguel, Azores, one of the places where heaven meets earth. The unspoiled beautiful nature and the gracious hospitality of the Azorean people are a part of my heritage.
We immigrated to the Ironbound section of Newark, New Jersey when I was four years old. The Ironbound is populated with people from various European countries thus facilitating our acculturation to western culture and yet maintaining our Azorean roots.
I learned many valuable teachings in our bi-cultural home: love of family, the value of consistent hard work, how to make a house into a loving home, but the two messages that resonate deep are: do what you say and do it whole-heartedly; and honor your heritage and family surname.
I completed my doctrate in 1995 in counseling psychology and became a licensed psychologist in 1996. My love for and commitment to my heritage is why I brought my clinical skills back home to the Ironbound.
My immediate reaction when I first encountered Cape Cod in 1990 was: 'I have arrived.' I have traveled to many beautiful places but what I felt when I stumbled upon Truro was a connection between mind, body and soul. Whether walking, biking or driving through Truro, I knew someday I would own a home on the Outer Cape.
Ten years (2000) later I bought my first home in North Truro. As fate would have it, this home was sold in 2009 during a tumultuous time of my life.
In 2011 on a beautiful fall day I purchased my piece of heaven on earth: Villa Sociedade. Much like the Azores, the unspoiled beautiful nature of the Villa is where heaven meets earth.
The passage of my Azorean roots with Villa Sociedade was nothing short of a divine occurence. The first home in North Truro was my 'holding ground' until I was ready to receive the gift intended for me:
Villa Sociedade: A place for integration of heritage and passion for creative hosting of traveling families who want to create memories with each other on the Cape.

Why Paula Sociedade, Ph.D. chose Truro
There are two homes on the Villa: the main and the guest house.
The main house has a beautiful private in-ground pool, tennis court and water views with amazing sunsets. It is part of the Villa, a private family estate, and is nestled on one of the highest points of Truro hills. It is situated on three acres and offers stunning views of the pastoral Truro landscape. The setting is tranquil and very private.
There are expansive decks on three sides of this 2+ bedroom, 2.5 bath, contemporary, architect designed home. There is an open floor plan which allows for quiet relaxation or wonderful entertaining. The main level consists of - living, dining and a fully-applianced galley kitchen. The master suite has a king size bed with Jacuzzi for two and separate shower, double sinks and a loo. The guest bedroom has a queen size bed with a full bathroom with shower. Central air conditioning, floor to ceiling sliders, fireplace and wood burning stoves are abundant on this level.
There is a staircase leading to the lower level where there is a wet bar, ping pong table, pinball machine and a quiet area with sofa/queen size sleeper near a separate half bathroom and a separate laundry room. Floor to ceiling sliders lead you to amazing outdoor living with a big outdoor shower, gazebo, fish pond...just to highlight a few of the many amenities.
