|Minimum Stay||3 - 7 nights|
Bird Song Acres is a large property across a (very quiet) street from Platte Lake. This provides all the benefits of lake access, without the concerns of little ones running into the water. You can also launch your motor boats just down the street (Platte has great fishing!)
When back on dry land, guests can relax in the screen porch, at the fire pit, next to the stream, or in the comfortable sitting areas of the cottage.
With no TV or internet at the cottage, it provides the perfect escape from your busy lives back home, and helps your kids learn how to really relax up north. Play board games, read, and make smores around the fire.
Location, Location, Location!
The Sleeping Bear Dunes are right around the corner. When you feel like getting out and about, options are endless to explore some of the most beautiful landscapes in the country.
Traverse City, Empire and Frankfort all within 30mins for perfect day/half day trips.

It is the perfect family vacation spot to relax, enjoy all that Northern Michigan has to offer, and create lifelong memories for your children
Sierra and I (Nick), have traveled the world for the past 7 years, as part of my job as a professional track athlete. We now have a baby boy, and wanted to provide him with a place to create lifelong memories with the extended family. From our extensive travels, we know what it takes to provide guests with the necessities for a perfect vacation. We hope you can enjoy our retreat in northern Michigan as much as we do.
Nick Willis purchased this house in 2013
We chose this property because of its perfect location between the isolated shores of Lake Michigan on Platte bay, and the quaint town of Beulah - the perfect place to pick up ice-cream, get supplies, or sit down for a meal when we don't feel like cooking.
I spent many summers running the trails at Platte River with the Uof M cross country team, and just fell in love with the area.
Platte Lake, is very quiet for a Northern Michigan Lake. Even on public holidays there are only a few ski boats out on the water.
With the Sleeping Bear dunes so close, it is the perfect little trip to go see the world class views from Pyramid point, or build up a sweat on the dune climb
We spent one July week in this adorable cottage with brand new furniture, beds and grill. It also had every other amenity you might need on vacation. There is so much to do in this area..biking, hiking Sleeping Bear Dunes, visiting uncrowded beaches, kayaking, and visiting Traverse City. We (family of 4) brought our senior weimaraner dogs who had the vacation of their lives. The property is huge and even has an outdoor shower (with warm water). There are also enough restaurants nearby if you don't want to cook on vacation!
Nick, the property owner, is very personable and great to deal with when booking. We would recommended this property for couples or families who want to visit this beautiful part of Michigan.
Golf in the region is incredible. 35 mins to Arcadia Bluffs, 20 mins to Mistwood and Manitou Passage, 35 mins to The Bear, and 3 great courses within 7 mins of the cottage!
Hiking and running trails are as good as it gets in Michigan. Platte River has 20 miles of incredible protected scenery, as part of the Sleeping Bear National Lake Shore. The Dunes offer incredible views as a reward for the demanding climbs.
The best wineries in Michigan are an easy 35 in drive away at Old Mission Peninsula and Leelanau Peninsula.
Quaint lakeside towns of Frankfort and Empire are 20 mins away, perfect for a lunch trip and antique hunting.
Beulah, and Honor, 10 mins away, have all the supplies you need for your holiday. Also great for coffee, and ice-cream runs.
Platte River can be kayaked/ canoed all the way into Lake Michigan.
