Overview

Cape San Blas House Rental Photos and Description

4 Bedroom, 4 1/2 bath plus 2 outdoor showers & breathtaking gulf & sunset views

Thank you for considering 4Sunsets for your vacation. We love it and we know that you will, too. We tried to make it perfect for you in every way.

Of course, that starts with the location. Steps away from one of the most beautiful, white sand beaches on the planet, this brand new (finished in 2014) kid- and dog-friendly beach house is located in the quiet and peaceful area of Secluded Dunes, parallel to St. Joseph's Peninsula State Park with a rare view to Eagle Harbor.

If you like amazing views, there are lots of ways to catch them. Enjoy your morning coffee or late afternoon beverage watching the sunrise or sunset from one of four decks, complete with screened-in porch, breakfast bar and latching deck gate (to keep little ones and dogs from roaming down to the beach without you).

A great beach house has to have a spacious living area, and we created one with plenty of room to hang out, play games, dine in, or just relax and watch a good movie. It has a beautiful fireplace, big screen TV with Directv, DVD player, Yamaha bluetooth speaker, wet bar and dining room table for 8 with seating for 4 more at the granite breakfast bar.

The kitchen is equipped with brand new stainless steel appliances (the dishwasher is super quiet), granite counter tops, an island for extra counter space and everything you’ll need for cooks of every level. Not to mention the outdoor Weber grill (connected to our propane tank so you never have to worry about running out) as well.

4Sunsets comfortably sleeps up to 13 vacationers with top-quality mattresses to help ensure you wake up rested and ready to enjoy the day. We have four bedrooms, each one special and spacious in its own way. There is a master suite on the main level (Garden Square) with a bay-side deck where you can see the sunrise over the state park. The two gulf front suites (Lia and Sunflower) on the second level have stunning views that won't disappoint. The kids’ suite (twin bunks over a full bed with a twin trundle, full sofabed facing a big screen TV and DVD player for movie nights) has been tested and approved by our kids so it’s sure to be a hit with yours.

And we didn’t mess around with the showers, which are exquisite. You’ll particularly like the double shower in Sunflower (check out the picture) but they’re all pretty cool and spa-inspired. And there are two more, fully enclosed outside showers for those of us who like to be one with nature after a run, bike or time on the beach. They all have tankless water heaters to conserve energy and provide plenty of hot water right away.

In the end, we built 4Sunsets with one thing in mind: we wanted to create a clean, peaceful oasis where you can get away, relax and have fun with your friends and family without a care in the world.

Local Information...

'With 10 miles of sugar white sand, this park is one of the top rated beaches in the United States rated #1 by Dr. Beach in 2002 . Sunbathing, shelling, snorkeling, swimming, bicycling and fishing are popular activities. A boat ramp which accommodates most trailered vessels is located at Eagle Harbor. Some of the highest dunes in the nation are found here as well as some of the last remaining habitat of coastal sand pine scrub. St Joseph Peninsula State Park has an abundance of wildlife and provides excellent opportunities for bird watching and wildlife viewing. The park is extremely popular during scallop season (July 1 - Labor Day weekend).'

Other local spots...

'If we don't have it, you probably don't need it'… Cape Trading Post less than 5 miles from 4Sunsets. Don't miss George's fresh hot donuts 7:30am until they run out!

Scallop Cove for kayak, stand up paddle board and other rentals (and gas, etc.) just past the Trading Post on your left.

Our favorite local restaurants...

Cone Heads (8020 Cape San Blas Rd)...1.1 miles from 4Sunsets for an after dinner walk for an ice cream cone.

In Port St. Joe…18.9 miles from 4Sunsets

Provisions (222 Reid Ave)

Pepper's (Mexican at 224 Reid Ave)

Joe Mama's (Wood Fired Pizza at 406 Reid Ave)

In Apalachicola…30.5 miles from 4Sunsets

Up the Creek Raw Bar (313 Water St.)

Additional recommendations from a vacationer who has been visiting CSB since the '60s:

I think I recall you mentioning a couple spots in Apalachicola for eating and just thought I would add our favorite in case you have not yet discovered it your self. The Grill of course is the original one and only on the corner by the light with bar none other best grouper sandwich in the pan handle. It was there forty years ago and Peter Fonda and the movie crew of Ulee's Gold which was made down there were regular customers. LOL it was the only choice actually for years. His 'Gold' was the famous Tupelo Honey gathered along the Appalach River. Best honey ever harvested and we still order it from locals by the gallon.

Our other favorite is Tamara's. It was originally located on one of the back streets but about five or so years ago she moved to the main street on the opposite side from the Grill and down the street a ways so not directly opposite The Grill. The Owl is okay but we really like Tamara's best.

Then hopefully you have also enjoyed the Raw Bar on 31 en route to Apalachicola. His hours are when he feels like opening and when they raked up enough oysters. We of course still like it before he modernized and expanded it and it was half the size it is now. Back when we walked it yelled at who ever was behind the counter 'Hey Bubba I want a tray of them steamed oysters ya'all just pulled out of the bay', then walked over to the cooler on the back wall and picked the brew of choice and sat at a table. When the oysters were cracked open and either steamed of raw as you wanted they were put on the counter and you went up and got the tray your self.

About Alissa

It all started when 4 friends from college brought their 4 sons to visit grandparents in Mexico Beach and needed a place to stay with their family dog. Cape San Blas was the closest spot and we all fell in love with the beauty and peacefulness of the forgotten coast. A few years later after another visit we started to talk seriously about making a dream a reality. Now, 7 years later, it's our genuine pleasure to share one of the most amazing places (in our opinion) on earth with you.

Alissa purchased this house in 2014

Why Alissa chose Cape San Blas

It's perfect. White sand, refreshing Gulf of Mexico, dolphins, sea turtles, no crowds, state park access…and saving the best for last, magical sunsets that are different each night.

What makes this house unique

We know what it's like to travel with kids and meet up with friends for a long week at the beach. We tried to make 4Sunsets clean, comfortable, homey yet uncluttered with spots for people to hang out together but also spots to get away for some privacy and quiet time.

Guestbook comments from the manager

I have to tell you - we all just took showers and are sitting here talking about the fact that this is truly BY FAR the nicest (and DEFINITELY the cleanest) home we have ever stayed in. We already don't want the week to end!!!

Best part of the Island.

  • 4 of 5

The location of this house is perfect. We enjoyed the feeling of seclusion, as there were not many people on the beach around us. The water is beautiful, and the sand is white and soft. The house offered everything that we could ask for from the enclosed porch to the fantastic kitchen and bathrooms. Loved the kids room for the little ones. Great location near the trading post, and Webers donut shop. (the best donuts I have ever had!) Truly enjoyed the experience with our weeklong stay. Only complaint was from my brother, who got stuck with a smaller bed.

4sunsets Review

  • 5 of 5

This is by far the nicest home we have stayed in at Cape San Blas. We have three kids and they loved the kids suite. The house is so close to the beach and there was little to no foot traffic. Each room has great immenities and the Master Suite bathroom is wonderful. We enjoyed opening the screen doors at night and listening to the water hit the beach. We brought both of our parents and with my dad unable to walk to well he could sit on the back deck and not miss a thing his grandkids did on the beach. We struggled leaving the house because it is truly amazing. I would recommend under packing and just bring food because this kitchen has everything you need. True luxury at its finest. We will definitely be back!!

Perfection

  • 5 of 5

I hosted a group of artist friends for a getaway at 4Sunsets. If you think the photos on the VRBO description are amazing, you should see this home for yourself. You will not find a more perfect vacation home and location. From the fully stocked gourmet kitchen to the exceptionally comfortable beds and linens, you will sink into the comfort of this home by the water. The beach is sugar white sand strewn with shells. The surf lulls you to sleep at night and if the weather doesn't cooperate you have every comfort in the home. We just enjoyed cooking and eating right at the house although we did go out for fresh seafood a few times and were happy with every restaurant we tried. The owners were readily available for any needs or questions. The home was exceptionally clean. We watched dolphins playing and breaching, fished and painted the scenery. Thank you for sharing paradise with us. Secluded, relaxing, beautiful, PERFECT!

Wonderful Beach House!!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at 4Sunsets the week of February 7, 2014 and loved it!! The perfect location at the end of the cape by the state park. We brought our two dogs and spent a lot of time walking the beach, searching for shells and just sitting on the deck watching the waves. It was our first visit to Cape San Blas and it was more than we'd hoped for. What a gorgeous place! The house was perfect for us. The owners were great!

We spent time in Appalachicola where we enjoyed the little bookstore, Up The Creek Raw Bar and coffee places. We also golfed at St. James in Carrabelle which had a very nice golf course. Port St. Joes is also a great place to visit and our favorite restaurant there was Joe Mama's Pizza!! It was by far the best pizza we've had and they have great salads as well. We'll definitely be coming back!

Secluded Dunes

  • 5 of 5

We were pleasantly surprised to find this house was as good as the VRBO description made it out to be. The location was perfect and the house was exceptionally clean, with all the necessary kitchen/bath items to make

the stay very comfortable. The beach was perfect and we walked it every single day. We enjoyed watching the dolphins swimming and breaching, and one day when we were on the beach a 6-8ft shark swam by not more than 10-15 yards from the waters edge. Its dorsal fin popped up suddenly, just like in the movie "jaws." Needles to say, we did't go swimming. I'd recommend this rental to everyone, and I'd definitely return if I was son inclined.

Our New Favorite Beach House

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at 4 sunsets the week of Nov 1, 2014. The house is beautiful and laid out perfectly, inside and out. The view from any balcony is spectacular with plenty of outdoor furniture to sit and relax. The inside was designed to get the maximum use out of every square inch. Every bedroom has it's own bathroom so no one has to walk down the hall to shower. The rooms are spacious and decorated nicely. The mattresses are comfortable and there are plenty of extra pillows and blankets. The kitchen, dining area and family room is all open so everyone has plenty of room to cook and still visit with each other. What's nice about the Secluded Dunes area is exactly that, it is secluded and very private. The whole week we were the only people on the beach. It also is nice to be able to bring your dogs. Cape San Blas is a very dog friendly beach. Alissa is very easy to work with and we will definitely rent this house again.
