Enjoy Your San Francisco vacation from a 1940s vintage building located in Buena Vista Heights. This vacation home includes two beautiful full floor two bedroom apartments, each with spectacular panoramic views! Both flats have hardwood floors, a fireplace, a deck, a separate dining room, and a complete kitchen. For your enjoyment we also provide high speed wireless internet access, a DVD player, and satellite television with DVR, making this truly a home away from home.
The top floor, CBV#3, features breathtaking San Francisco views from every room. Elegantly furnished, its warm airy environment is uplifting and inspirational. CBV #1 is equally attractive with spacious bedrooms and an arched living and dining room. This unit also has lovely, expansive views.
This vacation rental is in a quiet, residential neighbourhood right in the middle of San Francisco, home to convenient shopping and two quiet parks. There is ample parking on the block and easy access to public transportation allowing you to travel to other parts of the city. Those who wish to explore by foot, the small winding streets in the neighbourhood provide wonderful surprises.
Hi Sandy, Great apartment, great city! We had a lovely time here...amazing views and perfect location, close to everything but quiet and peaceful for recuperating after walking up and down those hills!
You are the perfect host...invisible yet available. We will recommend this apartment to anyone coming to San Francisco.
What a wonderful place—it certainly was a real “Home Away” and exceeded our expectations. The view was magnificent! The furnishings were attractive, comfortable and functional. In short, this was a terrific apartment and location, with everything we needed for our 2+ week stay, and I cannot suggest any improvement.
We came to visit family (including young grandchildren) who live two blocks away. The neighborhood was quiet, safe and very central; we went all over the city by public transportation and auto—taking grandchildren to friends’ homes, school, and activities . Parking was surprisingly easy and available. Public transportation was an easy downhill walk to Market Street and the Castro, and even the walk back uphill was not too strenuous (we are both in late 70’s). A park/playground was about five minutes’ walk away.
The deck beckoned for morning coffee and afternoon reflection, and we ate uncrowded dinners in a spacious dining room that could easily seat eight. The kitchen was complete with utensils, a large two-door refrigerator-freezer, coffee-masker, toaster, and microwave oven. We appreciated the sundries and kitchen supplies provided (including a great assortment of herbs and spices) that allowed us to cook interesting meals, not just order in.
Wifi worked consistently well. All spaces were very brightly lit, with dimmers to control the intensity of lighting. The in-apartment thermostat allowed us to control temperature, especially during some cold mornings. Linens and towels, hair dryer and iron were more than adequate. The washer and dryer were always available (no coins needed). The apartment was quiet. We never heard the renters downstairs, and they said they did not hear us walking around upstairs or the louder voices of grandchildren who visited for meals, play, and sleep overs.
Of course, the breathtaking fantastic view is a real plus—day or night, and especially during the holidays.
The only caveat is stairs. There are two flights (not steep) to the upper apartment but not good for someone who has difficulty walking.
Sandy Farrow was extremely personable and helpful throughout.
We anticipate returning frequently.
First of all this is not a "one star" review. I did that so that it would grab your attention so you would read this. This place is as advertised by the listing and the other reviews except I disagree that it truly "sleeps six." The listing is actually for two different properties if you haven't figured that out. We stayed in #3 which is the one on the top floor. The deck is off of the bedroom and the views are as amazing as you might imagine. Another review referred to the dated furniture and furnishings and that is true. This is not a newly remodeled, five star hotel resort. The furniture was comfy and the kitchen and bath were adequate. The TV in the living room is never and plenty big. We stayed here with our 12 and 7 year old and their godparents. We parked the car the first day and never moved it. We got a MUNI pass and used public transportation exclusively. It is approximately half a block to the nearest bus stop. From there you can get down to Market Street and go anywhere in the city with no problem. The neighborhood was extremely peaceful.
What I wanted to draw your attention to was the sleeping accommodations. For our stay and our kids it was great. They slept on what the owner calls a futon. It was a foldable mat that is stored in a closet and we brought it out for the kids to sleep on. For them it was fine but I was surprised not to find a futon. Before writing this review I emailed the owner to suggest that she amend her description because in my opinion the mat would be insufficient for an adult. The description says it sleeps six and if we had shown up with six adults, two of them would have been very disappointed that they had to sleep on the mat. The owner responded to me that she had "lived in Japan and that is what they call a futon in Japan, it was bought in Japantown." I replied that most of the population hasn't lived in Japan and would have a different expectation for what a futon was. She was a bit confrontational in her tone. If you read a couple of other reviews that she replied to you may see that. We also had to buy more toilet paper so plan ahead.
If you are traveling with kids or only four people then this place was great. If you have six people then beware of the sleeping mat for guests #5 and 6. I expect her to respond to this and flame me for writing what I wrote or try to explain but this review is for other travelers and not for the owner. Knowing what you are paying for ahead of time is critical when traveling.
We had a wonderful stay at this apt. We were in town for the birth of our first grandchild and wanted a space near them. This apt. is in a quiet neighborhood with well kept homes. The apt. is older but very spacious. We had a great stay here and enjoyed sitting on the deck with beautiful views of the distant ocean and city. The apt. was very clean and well maintained. Parking was fairly easy in the area. The owner responded to us very promptly if we had questions. We spent most of our time in Cole Valley where there are many good restaurants and bakeries.
I would recommend this space.
Just spent 6 nights at this lovely apartment. Amazing view in a roomy, quiet space. Plenty of room in kitchen and dining area, living room and master bedroom. Only one bathroom could be a minor quibble but it was not a problem for our party of 4 adults. Great neighborhood setting with lots of interesting, affordable restaurants within walking distance in Cole Valley, Haight, and Castro areas. It is a hike back up hill but, if you're not up to that, a cab will set you back only about $6 (and there are lots of public transportation.) Having spent many nights in hotels in financial district, union square, and fishermens wharf area, this experience was a welcome change that we hope to repeat.
We loved watching how the "stunning view" changed throughout the day - from clouds creeping all about the city to the evening lights sparkling across to the Berkeley and Oakland hills. The spacious home has very comfortable beds. It is in a nice, friendly, and quiet neighbourhood. There are wonderful restaurants and excellent grocery stores within walking distance. We got quite a workout walking to the neighbourhood park and back from the Castro and Mission districts. It is silly to try and find parking in the Mission. It's a short drive to Golden Gate Park, the beach, and the Legion of Honor.
Although there are a few toys and room for children to play (we had a 2 year old and a crawling baby visit during our stay) you need to keep watch due to the staircase.
This is an incredible house to stay in during your vacation in San Francisco. The rooms are large, homey and tastefully decorated. The house is in a lovely neighborhood with many unique Victorian style homes but also some
very modern homes. There are two parks within easy walking distance and both have fantastic views after a bit of climbing but that is what San Francisco is all about.
The kitchen is fully equipped so my husband cooked several meals during our stay but we also ordered from a close by deli. We relaxed with our family for just about every meal in the dinning room.
We also spent lots of time relaxing and soaking in the view of the city and the distant Bay on the spacious porch. We could watch cargo ships coming and going.
We were celebrating a momentous family event; our first visit to see our four month old grandson. We can't wait to return.
At Casa Buena Vista you are right in the heart of world famous San Francisco. Walk out the door and in a few minutes you can be at countless restaurants or quaint shopping streets. The subway will whisk you downtown in 10 minutes, and the nearby streetcar will provide a leisurely ride to the famous Embarcadero, Pier 39, and Fisherman's Wharf.
If you want to travel outside the City by car, the direct highway arteries are close and convenient. Sausalito, Napa Valley, Santa Cruz, and Monterey are all viable day trips.
