We have lived in Chicago for over 20 years and wouldn't live any where else. We are near the lake, parks and golf course and love all the restaurants, shops, parks and activities in the area. We can hop the train a half a block away to go downtown in 18 minutes! We really love East Ridge/Rogers Park.
Holly and Mark have a lovely apartment located on the top floor of their Roger's Park home. It has its own entrance so you will not disturb the owners during arrivals and departures. The apartment has all the amenities you will need for a short stay-comfy living room, nice size bedroom with two beds, bathroom with bathtub and shower, kitchenette with a microwave and refrigerator. Also some munchies for snacks and breakfast. Good size for two or three, don't know about more.
The apartment is very clean and neat with some wonderful artwork on the walls and tables. Holly delivered a beautiful pot of yellow chrysanthemums on my arrival to add a little Spring to the room on a day that was to be quite grey and drippy. Holly and Mark's house is located in a quiet neighborhood. There is some traffic noise that you can hear if the windows are open but there is also a fan you can use to create some white noise for those of us who like fresh air but are light sleepers. There is also a sitting porch on the roof just outside the apartment if you manage to stay on a sunny, warm day. Alas, the weather during my week was rainy and cold. Holly checked in a couple of times during my visit just to see if I needed anything and if I had any problems. My son and his family live a short distance away and this apartment is a wonderful alternative to a hotel room and much more comfortable. I can't say anything about the surrounding neighborhood or nearby places to eat or visit since my days and evenings were spent with my family. This is definitely my home away from home when visiting my children.
This was a great place to call home for myself and 3 friends for a long weekend. The location was close to public transit which made it easy to get to the city. The owners were awesome to deal with and always checking to make sure we had what we needed. I would definitely stay again!
This accommodation, on the top floor in a quiet Rogers Park neighborhood was perfect for visiting our son, a student at Loyola. Close to the Metra, we could be in downtown Chicago in 15 minutes and to Loyola in about the same amount of time. It rained on one of the days, so we ended up taking Uber cars to stay dry.
Holly and Mark are wonderful caring hosts. The apartment and stair hallway feature local artwork. We loved that is was so quiet at night after our busy Chicago days! Highly recommend!
We very much enjoyed our stay here. The hosts are warm and friendly people and made sure we had all we needed (including enough umbrellas on a rainy day). The apartment is on the 3rd story, so my 80-year-old mother had to take a few rest breaks on the way up, but she said it was definitely worth it! The neighborhood is quiet, and it is only a one block walk to catch the train into Chicago. We highly recommend this VRBO.
We stayed in this lovely apartment for three nights in August 2014 while visiting our son and his family, who live in the neighborhood and would definitely do so again. The apartment is lovingly decorated with the works of local artists, which makes you feel you are staying in an art gallery. Holly and her husband are fantastic hosts. We have stayed in many VRBO rentals in the United States and Europe and do not hesitate to recommend this property.
Plenty of room for the four of us, even the teenager loved the space. The hosts went above and beyond to make sure our stay was great even sending us off with fresh croissants. Highly recommend.
