Pauoa Beach is an undiscovered gem and this place is 200-300 yards from a phenomenal private beach club for the 30 homes in this beach front community. The beach club overlooks the Fairmont Orchid's beach and it is steps to the sand. The Na Hale Villa is beautiful and the format of the place couldn't be any better. The open air format and Balinese style with separate living room/kitchen and 3 separate bedroom pods surrounding a pool is perfect for the islands. The finishes of the villa are extremely high quality and what you would expect in a top notch neighborhood. This place isn't build like a typical rental property. The outdoor BBQ is a great option if you want to eat at the villa. Given that Pauoa is a private gated community, it is very safe and young kids can run free. The roads have absolutely no traffic. Our 7 and 10 yr old daughters were able to walk freely to the private beach club and beach with absolutely no concern for their safety. The beach is also a very safe and fun environment (only pauoa residents and orchid hotel guests) and it has exceptional paddle boarding and snorkling. There is a large protected cove for swimming, and the cove opens into a relatively large bay. The Mauna Lani golf courses are some of my favorite anywhere. The south course has about 6-7 holes right on the ocean and lava rock. Surfing is somewhat rare in the pauoa beach bay, but we got really lucky when a 8-10 foot swell rolled in on our last day and I surfed the spot for 2 hours with only one other person (since nobody can easily access this beach and bay unless in the tiny pauoa community or at the orchid). The last day swell was icing on the cake. I'll definitely return to pauoa and would probably never bother staying at hualalai again. Hualalai is over-rated and over-priced. In Hualalai, you'd pay more than double for this type of villa and this location. The vast majority of places in hualalai under $2k/nt are 1-2 miles from the beach (as opposed to 200 yards) and the private beach club isn't as impressive as the one at Pauoa. Plus, pauoa is a better beach than hualalai and I enjoy having access to the mauna lani village. This is my favorite place in the world.
The minute you walk into this open-air home you are immediately in paradise! The spacious great room/kitchen opens out onto a meandering pool/spa and lush vegetation. We spent several afternoons under the lanai at pool's edge reading and enjoying the peacefulness.
The sleeping accommodations are very private and unique with 3 separate detached suites surrounding the pool. We loved the setup. There is so much privacy but still lots of indoor and outdoor space for group gatherings.
We loved the easy access to the Pauoa Beach Club where we used the ocean-view activity center each day for an early morning workout---the pool and the gym at the beachclub are spectacular. After our workout, it was super fun to grab a breakfast snack at the Fairmont Orchid Hotel right below.
One of our favorite things was using the provided GEM car to go to the market, to Tommy Bahamas, to golf and to the beach club at the Mauna Lani. We felt so free spirited! We also took the GEM car to a couple of close-by snorkeling spots where we saw large turtles and lots of beautiful tropical fish.
Speaking of golf----we truly enjoyed playing both of the courses at the Mauna Lani----they are so convenient, lush and beautiful. We can't wait to play there again.
Our contact, Victoria, was very helpful in recommending some wonderful drives, hikes, restaurants, snorkeling beaches and music venues.
Our experience at this Balinese home far exceeded our expectations and we can't wait to go again.
My wife and I stayed here for one week and it was phenomenal. The house feels like your own private high-end resort. The private pool, jacuzzi, tiki torches, and outdoor showers are just to name a few highlights. Minutes away from multiple private beaches with great snorkeling - lots of turtles. The GEM car is great too because you can access all the beaches, golf courses, shops, grocery store, and restaurants with ease. Ruths Chris and Monstera Sushi are a must for dinner. Everything about this house and location are just perfect. We had the time of our lives here in paradise and would highly recommend it.
