We are empty nesters. I'm a writer & filmmaker with a background in publishing & marketing. My husband is in real estate. We both love to travel. We also love movies, books, music & cooking. We have two pets, a small friendly pug dog and an older cat who sleeps most of the time.
Though we are new to VRBO, we have hosted many guests from all over the world. Executives, students, visiting lecturers, authors & filmmakers. We had a wonderful group of 8 yoga instructors here for a week at one point - and the entire cast & crew on an indie film for a whole month! For a visit to the Bay, Piedmont is very centrally located. A 10 min drive to Berkeley, an easy commute to San Francisco via Bus, Bart or the 'casual carpool' that operates Mon-Fri here in town. Piedmont Avenue is about a mile away with lots of stores & restaurants and a movie theater. The Lakeshore District is also close, with stores like Gap & Trader Joes, and the historic Grand Lake Theater.
Theres a combo cafe and gourmet grocery/deli within walking distance from the house.
The town is beautiful - A great place for walking, with a number of parks & spectacular views of the Bay. Piedmont started out as a vacation destination, with Piedmont Springs, but has grown into one of the more exclusive suburban communities in the area. Its an old well established town with an interesting history & not a 'development'. Each house is different & many are truly gorgeous, with impressive gardens. We are in a woodsy area with red tail hawks calling, and families of deer & wild turkey often visible from the deck. Its a very peaceful setting. A creek runs through our back yard.
Having traveled for many years ourselves, we know how it is. We provide a comfortable place to come home to. There are plenty of space to spread out. You have the best of both worlds; privacy when you want it, but without the loneliness of a hotel. You can join in on a cup of tea or glass of wine and some conversation.
