Chalet Shufu has an ideal location in the massive 'Portes du Soleil' ski area. This purpose-built ski chalet is close to Morzine, Avoriaz and Les Gets, an easy walk to the village resort centre of St. Jean d'Aulps and only just over 1 hour from Geneva in the French Alps.
Our fantastic outside barrel sauna has great views down the river to the mountains beyond!
Owner run, with years of experience, we take great care to ensure your holiday with us is a total success! This is 'the chalet holiday' offering a relaxed home from home with excellent service and the best of varied skiing in Europe's largest ski domain.
• up to 15 guests with generous group and child discounts
• flexible arrival / departure - either B&B, Half Board or Fully Catered
• all bedrooms en-suite
• 'Gourmets return' - guaranteed our chef from the Orient will WOW you too!
• private minibus service - only 5-10 minutes to / from a choice of different ski-lifts
Skiers and Snowboarders: The Portes du Soleil has everything and lots of it; from the very gentlest of beginners runs (just 5 minutes from the chalet here in St Jean d'Aulps) to a world cup downhill course and the infamous 'Wall' in Les Crosets. In addition to the 650km of piste, there are board parks, half-pipes, plenty of off-piste and numerous bars/restaurants to keep you going!
As soon as possible after arrival at Chalet Shufu we take you to get skiing or snowboarding equipment at a hire-shop with good gear at very competitive rates.
Every morning our minibus sets out to whichever lift you’d like to start from and picks you up again at either a pre-arranged time or upon a call from your mobile.
Then it’s back to the chalet; warmth - drinks - comfort - conviviality and fabulous food!
Englishman and Sichuan girl; we had Chalet Shufu built in 2003, specifically designed for family life (2 boys now!) and the comfort of holidaying guests staying with us.
Stuart or Manzi purchased this chalet in 2003
Our design and south facing!
Our experienced chef from the Orient provides dishes and tastes you will never have had before AND have you returning for more!
Unique also would be our outside barrel sauna with superb views over the river to the mountains - an experience worth trying.
We just returned from a great 7 night skiing holiday at Chalet Shufu.
The chalet itself is very cosy and full of Alpine charm with an endearing oriental touch! It is set in a beautiful Savoyard village with it's own fantastic ski circuit.
Stuart, Manzi and Rupert are the best hosts you could wish for! They are very welcoming and completely flexible. Their recommendations regarding where and when to ski were spot on! We were able to explore the whole Port Du Soleil ski area thanks to the complimentary shuttle service they offer their guests.
Manzi's culinary skills are of great variety and simply fantastic! We always looked forward to our dinner after a full day's skiing and were always very impressed! She is very flexible and the menu was always varied and exciting!
We had an amazing time and will definitely be recommending Chalet Shufu to those who love great skiing and first class service in beautiful surroundings!
Thank you so much!
As a family party of 13 taking sole occupation,Chalet Shufu worked well. Clean, well maintained, friendly and good food, with local and international cuisines well represented. The location was more quiet than expected with very little within walking distance, but the shuttle service they provided worked extremely well, taking various members of our party to different locations as suited their diverse levels of competence on snow. Being dropped off exactly where you wanted to be virtually eliminated walking in ski boots! The hiring of equipment, for those who needed it (and its return) was also fuss free and painless. A more spacious lounge area would have been better, more especially if the Chalet was occupied by disparate groups.
We have stayed here twice now, first time during July and the second in May. Not done a ski season yet. Both times we have had the chalet to ourselves and Stuart and Linda have looked after us brilliantly. Our room was clean and warm with enough space. Their hospitality is second to none with Linda being an excellent cook. Lots of good advice on places to visit etc. It's only a short walk into the village where there are 2 or 3 restaurants. The area was great in July but wouldn't go again in May as it was very quiet with lots of places shut as it is between seasons. We struggled to find restaurants that were open in an evening. Would recommend it to friends going to that area.
My family and I have spent 3 wonderful holidays at Chalet Shufu, and hope to have lots more!
Stuart and Linda make the perfect hosts, very friendy and accommodating to all their guests needs.
Chalet Shufu has a wonderful atmosphere, very warm and inviting - a perfect place to spend a holiday.
The transfers to and from the slopes each day are great, especially when you have children. This also means that each day you can start and finish at a different point, and therefore get the most out of your skiing experience.
The food is excellent, all lovingly made. Special diets are also very well catered for.
I have, and will continue to recommend Chalet Shufu to friends.
The Carr family are wonderful host and I can't think of a nicer place to spend a holiday.
An excellent choice of chalet within 10mins drive of at least half a dozen top ski areas within the porte du soleil region.
Chalet and hospitality as described on website - very welcoming and family friendly. The standard of cuisine was exceptional with good early dinners for the younger guests. The oriental specialities were particularly good and the food could really not be faulted although the porridge was of a particularly unique consistency and was only sampled on the one occasion.
It seemed that many of the guests were on a return visit which is testament to how highly thought of the chalet is.Transfers to and from ski-hire shops and on a daily basis to the slopes all seem to run like clockwork but can be completely flexible to suit guests schedules.
The chalet is suited to couples or families as there is not a great deal in the way of nightlife on its doorstep. The local village has a couple of decent restaurants and a family friendly pub which serves good pizza.
Children will be very happy to be staying at chalet shufu. The owner has an amazing collection of dvds ranging in suitability for toddler to teenager. If the child is particularly fortunate the owners vast collection of thunderbirds memorabilia may be available.
All in all a perfect choice for a family skiing holiday within an hours drive of geneva airport. Also a good base for walking ,rafting and mountain biking during the summer months. My family try and visit on an annual basis but such is the chalets popularity that finding a room during school holidays is not as easy as it once was.early booking is essential.
A hassle free skiing trip in a new location. The chalet surpassed all expectations. The hosts couldn't do enough to make our stay a most memorable experience. Would definitely recommend this catered chalet to family groups. The food provided was first class and all in all I would say this was the best chalet we have stayed in in the French Alps. We'll definitely be back!
Chalet Shufu has an ideal location; situated close to Morzine, Avoriaz and Les Gets, it is an easy walk to the village resort centre of St. Jean d'Aulps and only 1 hour from Geneva in the French Alps.
St. Jean d'Aulps is a small traditional Alpine village within the huge Portes du Soleil ski area in which there are a further 13 resorts between France and Switzerland.
A choice of different Portes du Soleil ski-lifts are just 10 minutes away and Thonon les Bains with Lac Leman (Lake Geneva) being 30 minutes away in the other direction.
Chalet Shufu faces south getting sunshine all day and has the River Dranse at the bottom of the garden with excellent views down the valley. We are an easy 10-minute walk from the shops, bars and restaurants in the village centre.
Ski: The Portes du Soleil is the largest internationally linked ski area in the world. In both France and Switzerland, it has a reliable snow record, picturesque scenery, excellent regional food and because of its close proximity to Geneva airport, is one of the most popular ski domains in the Alps.
