The Harbor House is situated on a canal waterfront location which is still the Centre of Amsterdam on a trendy and sought after quiet and safe island, the “little village” of Prinseneiland. The entrance of the apartment is situated on the site of the former shipyard “De Walvis” which you can enter through a private gate. The entrance gate says De Walvis, meaning The Whale. The historic “Shipyard De Walvis” was transformed by the current owners into two stylish gray wooden buildings, situated on a private terrain. There are private moorings for small boats.
On the first floor of one of these buildings we find the apartment “The Harbor House”.
The exclusive apartment ( 100 m2 / 1075 sq.ft) has its own private entrance and hallway. The apartment is a loft. In this loft we find one large bedroom with a king-size double bed (Hästens, width 1,80 / long 2 meter), and there is a Panasonic flat screen TV. Next to the bedroom is a bathroom with a toilet, shower and wash basin. There is a large walk-in closet.
Between the bedroom and the living room we have the entrance and the large fully equipped kitchen with a refrigerator, hot-air-oven, microwave, gas cooking plate, a dishwasher, coffee-machine and a toaster. There is free coffee and tea. There is also a wash-dryer combination.
From the kitchen we enter the living room. There is a very large lounge- sofa, a design glass table and a large flat screen LG television. In the corner we find a little desk-table with all kind of information for your stay.
The Shipyard is situated on Prinseneiland, just a short walk from Central Station and is located in the Amsterdam Centre in a quiet historical area of warehouses, canals, docks and shipyards now converted into a quiet, residential area just an interesting few minutes’ walk away from the famous canal area and the highlights of Amsterdam.
Most places of interest are in walking distance, but if you like to hop on the tram or bus to go places, there are stops very nearby. It is a three-minute walk to bus stop18 and 22 from/to Central Station and tramline 3, the circle line that passes the museum area.
The islands Realeneiland, Bickerseiland and Prinseneiland are three small unique islands that still belong to the Centre of Amsterdam. The atmosphere feels like a small quiet village of old shipyards, some of which are still functioning, and warehouses, most of them converted into apartments. Artists and people with creative professions came to this neighborhood to find the quiet spirit of the past so close to the busy part of town.

Wouter & Liesbeth Nieuwveld
We are Liesbeth & Wouter Nieuwveld. We are living here for almost 40 years. Wouter was a ships-designer and builder and Liesbeth was a manager of theatre groups. We have two sons and five grand-daughters. We converted our offices and workshop into luxury and roomy apartments.
We rebuild several years ago the old wooden buildings of the shipyard. The wooden buildings are a landmark on the island where we are located.
The athmosphere of the three little islands on which we are located is unique. We are still the City Centre, but a quiet and safe little village next to the busy part of the centre.
