Kevin and Rachel met in Austin in 1985 and married in 1996. After adventures in Grapevine, Texas and Monterey, California, they moved to beautiful Old Town Georgetown with their two girls.
Rachel Cummins purchased this bungalow in 2013
Rachel's dream to open a bed and breakfast is being realized in an unexpected way with the opening of the Sweet Lemon Inn. Part of the original plat of Georgetown, this historic property was built in 1918 and remained with the original family for more than 60 years. Following Horace and Carolyn Sweet (yes, Sweet!) purchase and restoration of the property in the 1980s, it became a commercial property in the 1990s. When Kevin and Rachel were introduced to this lovely property, they realized it was ideally situated for a Cafe and Inn. The Sweet Lemon Kitchen opened downstairs for catering and special events in August last year. Stay tuned for more, as we open the cafe downstairs later this year!
The perfect place for a girls trip or family vacation. Convenient to downtown with great shopping and restaurants. Clean, roomy, comfortable, quiet and pretty. We will definitely be back.
We only live about an hours drive from here, but love to "get away" for the weekend, and we like to stay downtown when possible so we can walk to local attractions and restaurants. The Sweet Lemon Inn fit the bill! We stayed here over Easter weekend celebrating our 34th wedding anniversary. Several great spots for food and drinks nearby and within easy walking distance. The Sweet Lemon is an absolute gem - delightfully decorated and impeccably clean. And the little thoughtful touches are so apparent (like the little step ladder and grab bar to get into the tub - most helpful for those like us who are not exactly youngsters anymore!). And the king bed was so comfortable (I think it was a Tempurpedic mattress). We just totally enjoyed our stay and hated to leave, and the owners Rachel and Keven were a delight to deal with. We hope to be back someday!
I came in friday morning and was greeted with my 4 bridesmaids to a brunch. we stayed Friday night and I stayed Saturday night with my new husband. Hospitality was phenomenal and it was a great first B&B experience!!!!
I reserved this for family to stay during our daughter's wedding that was being held across the street at The Union on Eighth and it couldn't of been more perfect! It is absolutely gorgeous, clean, comfortable and in the perfect location. I highly recommend this to anyone wishing to visit Georgetown and even for local residents looking for a wonderful "staycation". Thank you Sweet Lemon for being a wonderful asset to Georgetown!
The Sweet Lemon couldn't be sweeter! What a fabulous way to visit Georgetown. This inn is perfect for a family or even family and friends. Meticulously cared for and thought through, this sweet retreat surrounded us with charm, warmth and a cozy place to call home. Felt like we were in a page out of Southern Living. We happened upon Market Day... what a fun surprise to walk around the corner to a local arts and crafts fair. Walking distance to shops, restaurants and a local coffee shop, this gem does not dissappoint. Thanks for everything! Can't wait to come back.
Romantic, quiet, very clean, the beds and pillows were very comfortable. Visit Gumbo's, 600 Degree"s, Salt Lick BBQ in Round Creek and the Monument. Great Memories and we are coming back with friends.
Thank You So Much!
