Dallas Lodge Rental Photos and Description
5,300 sq. ft., 6 bedroom, 4 bath log home on 25 acres with fishing pond & views
Fern Hill Lodge is perfect for family gatherings and retreats. The themed rooms, rustic decor, gourmet kitchen and theater room offer something for everyone. There are 3 levels with beds for up to 20 people. The main level of the house is wheelchair accessible with 3ft doors throughout the whole house and a long outdoor sloped pathway to the downstairs rooms.
For relaxation, take a quick walk down to the dock at the one acre fishing pond and catch bass, blue gill and crappie (be sure to release them, too!). Or take a stroll through the seven acre forest on the other side of the fishing pond. The trees will refresh your spirit and energize your body. It's also relaxing to watch the goldfish swimming around in the smaller pond in front of the house.
Or you might like to watch the sunrise on the 700 square foot covered slate deck along the southeast side of the house overlooking the fishing pond. In the evenings you can build a fire and roast marshmallows in the fire pit or experience a movie in the theater room that will seat 18. Be sure to bring your favorite flicks!
Bedrooms: the Master Suite has 2 queen beds, walk-in closet, access to the deck outside and 46 inch flat screen TV with satellite service that can swivel to be viewed from the jetted tub. We call the big walk-in slate shower 'the Cave.' You'll love the massaging effect the smooth river rock floor has on your feet. The room has a heated slate floor and double granite vanity with raised copper sinks and waterfall faucets.
The Parlor bedroom is also on the main floor. It is the feminine counterpoint to the rest of the house with quilts, needlework & frillery. It has a king bed and uses the main floor guest bath with tub/shower combo, heated slate floor and raised copper sink with waterfall faucet.
The Loft sports a full size Murphy bed, game table, reading nook with sofa, games, air hockey and foosball.
Through the Loft is the Nest, a large room with two sets of XL twin beds usable as 4 twins or 2 kings. It also has a couch and flat-screen TV with satellite and Wii game console. There are some games available but feel free to bring your own.
Downstairs is the Fishing Room with a king bed and its own private bath with granite vanity and tub/shower combo. It has an outside door leading to the covered patio for early morning coffee.
Also downstairs are the Hunting and Cowboy rooms. The Hunting Room has a king bed and also opens out onto the patio. The Cowboy Room has a queen bed and a set of log bunk beds. It does not open to the outside, perfect for children. These two rooms share a bath with granite vanity and tub/shower combo.
The theater room seats 14 in genuine theater chairs and another 4 on small couches. With its 10 foot screen, Blu-ray/DVD player, VHS player, satellite TV, HDMI hook-up for computers and 7.1 surround sound, it's the perfect setup for movie watching or presentations. Complete with popcorn machine & wet bar area with refrigerator and microwave.
The gourmet kitchen includes a six-burner Capital gas range with oven, an electric wall oven, warming drawer, dishwasher, TWO refrigerators, Advantium microwave oven, Kuerig coffee maker (bring your K-cups) plus a regular coffee maker, cherry cabinets, granite counters, two copper farmhouse sinks, handmade copper hood, pantry, dishes and glassware for 20, two electric griddles, two waffle irons, a rice cooker and a full array of cooking utensils and small appliances.
You'll never want to leave the Great Room with its 25' ceiling, huge log trestle, rustic decor, comfortable leather couches with built-in recliners, and 60 inch flat screen TV with satellite service and Blu-ray player. The room has three levels of lighting: ambient ceiling lights for TV viewing, fan lights for socializing, and reading lamps for, well, for reading. It also has a massive real river rock gas fireplace for chilly evenings.
The garage is equipped for exercising with treadmill, rower and weight machine. A ping pong table makes for fun tournaments!

About Polly McCrea
Polly and her late husband Jerry fulfilled a life-long dream of building a log lodge in the country. It was a fun experience with all their neighbors and friends donning hard hats, steel-tipped boots and tool belts to help with the log-setting. Jerry & Polly hand-crafted many of the features in the home like the genuine elk antler chandelier, the massive barn plank front door, the pounded copper hood and the large braided wool rug in the great room made from old articles of clothing. The venue for much entertaining in the past few years, Polly now wants to share this gorgeous home with the world. She would love to meet you and answer any questions you might have about the house and property.
Polly McCrea purchased this lodge in 2008
Why Polly McCrea chose Dallas
In 1994 Jerry & Polly started searching for property away from the hustle & bustle of the big city of Portland. Their search kept widening until they came upon 160 acres nestled in the hills between Dallas & Monmouth. It was exactly what they had been searching for. Through the years they have sold many 5 acre home sites and created the friendly community of Fern Hill. You might meet some of them walking down the road or out for a stroll down to the fishing pond which is shared with all the neighbors. Jerry & Polly, their friends and family, personally planted most of the 22,000 trees on the property. In addition to these 'younger' trees are numerous majestic 300+ year old oaks.
