Don discovered Acadia and the island at age 16 as an National Science Foundation student at Jackson Laboratory in Bar Harbor, and we have been coming back ever since with children and now grandchildren in tow. One of our passions is hiking throughout the world. Acadia with its superb beauty and vast set of trails offers unparalleled hiking opportunities.

Why Donald Oliver chose Bar Harbor
Everyone should have a special place in this world: a wellspring to draw strength from, and which rejuvenates them. Acadia National Park and Mount Desert Island is that place for us, and we want you to see and experience it first hand.
What makes this house unique
Moving beyond the limitations of Acadia cottages, we decided to buy a larger modern, private house and equip it with all the comforts and conveniences of home to provide a superior vacation experience for the whole family. The property is also ideally located: 2 miles from the Hull’s cove (main entrance) to Acadia National Park and 4 miles from downtown Bar Harbor. You can walk 5 minutes down our quiet road to Frenchman’s Bay or pick up the Island Explorer (free) bus and go anywhere on the Island without driving. The latter option is great for those long one-way hikes or bike rides across the island.
