Mill Valley Bungalow Rental Photos and Description

Quiet 2 Bed, 1 Bath, private patio with grill, bikes, parks and playgrounds

Romantic, designer furnished 2 bedroom in-law in flat, walk-able Mill Valley. Perfect location for outdoor patio living in the sun belt, across from the Park School playground, tennis courts and grassy fields. Walk a few blocks to downtown destination restaurants and 142 Throckmorton Comedy Club or the skate park. Ride our bikes out to Tennessee beach, up Mount Tamalpais where mountain biking was born, or on the bike path to breezy Sausalito and the Golden Gate Bridge.

High-end, new sensuous furnishings, and a delicious gourmet kitchen with everything from a flour sifter to a dual-fuel downdraft JenAir pro stove. Or if you prefer, our private chef comes Mondays and makes meals to go for the week. Feel safe in a fenced, hypo-allergenic environment that includes radiant heat in etched concrete floors, reverse-osmosis filtered water, and a whole house vacuum. Soundproof walls create privacy form the attached house.

Dogs are happy with our small pet door and fenced private yard. There are organic Meyer's lemons from the tree and a large gas grill on the flagstone patio for California outdoor dining under the grape arbor. Off-street parking in a safe neighborhood that's very quiet at night, with a 10 minute drive to San Francisco or Muir Woods redwoods.

This is a great place to write your book. There's a view of Mt Tam from the desk, as well as the happy sound of children walking to school down the public pathway. Drawers, file cabinet, wifi, and supplies make for a fully functional office. The stainless steel kitchen features a duel-fuel downdraft JenAir pro series range with electric convection oven and gas burners. The profile microwave has a minimalist dial look. The leathered-texture black granite counter top drops into an under-mount granite sink, all brilliantly lit by continuous strip recessed LED lights. A powerful garbage disposal turns on with a stainless air switch, and recycling and garbage are picked up Mondays about 8AM. The 22 cubic foot stainless refrigerator has the freezer below for convenience. Filled with storage, the kitchen island has lots of storage and seats for two to chat with the cook. Bigger meals happen around the coffee table or on the courtyard table.

Helmets and casual bicycles are provided in the 'bike barn', where serious cyclists can hang and lock their own bikes. Marin is famous for world class road and mountain bike trails. You can 'ride to the ride' from your home- Tennessee Beach is less than a half hour away, through open space parkland, and the trail head up Mount Tamalpais is less than five minutes away.

This property is very tranquil and quiet. The neighborhood is super safe--crime is almost non-existent. Mill Valley has two Whole Foods markets, a Friday Farmer's Market, and organic sections in the historical market and in Safeway.

We can arrange for talented healers to come to you for healing massage, gentle Rolfing, warm bamboo massage, acupuncture and more. Your hosts are licensed psychotherapists who practice Low Energy Neurofeedback. It's like a brain reboot: an EEG reads your brain waves and echoes them back through the same three sensor wires to the head, triggering a neural house-cleaning. Regrets, worries and repeating survival thoughts vanish. The resulting clarity is like the spacious mind meditators experience on retreat. Headaches, ADHD, migraines, anxiety, depression and arguing are all improved strongly. This is the future of medicine, available to the lucky few now. Couples drop their arguments, business people drop their speech nervousness, athletes drop into 'the zone'. Everyone is at their best. These services are available at a small extra charge.

About Grant Rudolph

As a licensed psychotherapist, I like meeting interesting people. I have studied at Yale and Pacifica Graduate Institute, started businesses, directed a choir and orchestra, and run Echo Rock Neurotherapy Clinic for 25 years. My wife and I use Low Energy Neurofeedback and meditation techniques to make people efficient and happy and to alleviate problems of anxiety, ADHD, phobias, headaches, PTSD, etc. I also bicycle, garden, and write about our work. I often dance on Sundays at the Open Floor. I serve as a practice guide for Spirit Rock Meditation Center in nearby Woodacre, CA.

Why Grant Rudolph chose Mill Valley

Connections. The property is well-designed with pricey amenities, yet the wealth of connections to local interesting people and places is priceless. You are not on your own.

Location. 'The flat's' near downtown Mill Valley is the best place to be in the Bay Area. The weather is perfect, sunny but not too hot because of the nearby ocean. You're on the edge of open space forest, and the air is cleaner than anywhere nearby. The city commute is easy, and dozens of activities are conveniently nearby. Best of all, Mill Valley is filled with creative people who pause at the coffee shops to talk.

What makes this bungalow unique

Service. Where else are you offered the services of a chef, a masseuse, an organic gardener, a bike or personal fitness coach, and a neurotherapist? Access to Low Energy Neurofeedback (LENS) may be the best thing that has happened to you in decades, especially if you have ever hit your head or been in a fender-bender.

We rented this apartment for a full month and it was a great location to to call home base. So much to do in Mill Valley and surrounding area as far as hiking, biking, camping - you name it Marin County has it. The location of the apartment was very convenient for walking to any part of town to enjoy dinner and pick up groceries etc. Lots of parks nearby to walk the dog and enjoy the outdoors.

Relaxing accomodation in Mill Valley

  • 5 of 5
This exceptionally decorated 2 BR apartment in Mill Valley is a part of a bigger house, but has its own entrance, patio and little garden. It is located close to the Town Square, where are multiple restaurants, but on a tranquil street. If you are curious how it feels to be a resident of this exceptional community, you would certainly enjoy your stay. Especially that the owners take interest in who you are and are more than willing to advise about the best activity for you. On the other hand there is as much privacy as you desire. I found the bed very comfortable and the kitchen practical, modern, well equipped to do your own cooking. I enjoyed the tomatoes from the garden! The location is very practical for many nature walks in the area, also has an easy access to Hi 101, Larkspur Ferry to SF and Hi 1 for the Pacific Ocean views. Overall I know the area very well, stayed in many hotels in Marin County, but felt this was more enjoyable and would like to return.

Good for some, not for me

  • 2 of 5
This would be a good place for someone who wants to spend a lot of time biking, hiking, exploring the area, and shopping--that is, not spending all that much time at the apartment, which is nicely appointed but somewhat dark and rather small. The heading says "Sleeps five." You'd be tripping over each other. There is outdoor space, but it is a concrete patio behind a garage, not all that pleasant. There is a dog door, but only a teacup Yorkie would fit through it. The owners, I'm sure, are pleasant and interesting people, as noted in the other reviews, but they did not greet me, nor did they even seem to know I was there. The apartment adjoins their house, and the door to it wasn't locked, so I walked right into their kitchen. Very embarrassing. So if you choose this spot (nice location, big tv, new kitchen fixtures, though the fridge was not on and contained someone else's leftovers), make sure the owners know when you're coming, and ask a lot of questions to make sure it's right for you.

Owner's Response: This guest arrived early and got off on the wrong foot. She’s right, we weren't expecting her so soon! She makes a great suggestion: let us know exactly when you are coming. After this experience, we always ask!
Some guests want total privacy; this reviewer wanted to be greeted. Whoever you stay with, please let them know your preference. We are available by cell phone in the adjacent house to provide for your needs.
She’s also right about the apartment being small for 5 people. The VRBO listing requires specific information, including a box for how many beds. When we get an inquiry for 5 people, we tell them the great room is 14’x18’ and 5 adults make it seem cozy, although much better than a hotel room for the same price!
Dog owners just open the door for their medium or large dogs. Dogs love to lie on the etched concrete radiant-heat floors—warm in winter, cool in summer. The patio, however, is actually made from flagstone and exotic hardwood, as you can see from the pictures, and it opens to the south, like the south-facing windows that provide bright light if the guest opens the blinds.
Guests who want more interaction than just advice on trails and restaurants often book an appointment with us for a Low Energy Neurofeedback Session. In LENS, a computer and EEG read the brainwaves and faintly echo them back for a few seconds through the three sensor wires on the head. This accurate information allows the brain to clear repeating defensive thoughts from the past, and return to spacious clarity in the present. Your mind gets its own vacation from the usual bustle! See our website Echo Rock Neurotherapy for more information.
