Troy and Cecilia were born and raised in Anchorage Alaska, however Hawaii is their second home. They have visited and vacationed in Hawaii for over 40 years and have finally found the perfect location and realized a life long dream of having a second residence there. Kona is the perfect getaway from the long cold Alaska winters: many times a 100 degree difference for only a 5 hour non stop flight makes it very appealing.

Kamilo has all the benefits Hawaii has to offer in one resort. We were adamant to have a view from our residence and were lucky enough to get one of the few units with a full unobstructed view of the golf course from our private lanai. Having the beach less than a ½ mile away is the other key to the location of our unit, 4 miles of white sand beach is a blessing to have just a short walk or golf cart ride away (cart included). Combine the view, the beach, a 2 acre recreational area with 2 swimming pools and a state of the art workout facility and you have a complete package with something for everyone.
Kamilo has restaurants, shopping and a grocery store within a mile of the unit so everything you want and need is at your fingertips.
Being built in 2013 makes it a newer unit with new and upgraded amenities and appliances. Everything is top shelf and upgraded from the appliances to the ceiling treatments to accent the vaulted ceilings, wall coverings and new window treatments. The pocket doors open the living area to the lanai making it a pleasurable indoor / outdoor environment to enjoy the cool tropical breeze and golf course vistas. The new construction is state of the art with one common wall that is sound protected you would think it is a single family house. We have furnished the home with amenities equal to the level of quality of our upscale home, to make it comfortable, pleasurable and relaxing. Included in the rental is the use of a golf cart, garage, bicycles, boogie boards, beach chairs, and beach toys /towels etc.. Enjoy your vacation!
This spacious home is conveniently located and beautifully decorated. The presence of bikes, boogie boards and beach chairs made it especially enjoyable. The golf cart was great for access to the grocery, beach park and private beach club, as well as the gorgeous golf courses at Mauna Lani. Nearby Hapuna Beach State Park was a favorite spot for our 2 granddaughters. Lovely accomodation and a destination we will definitely consider for future travel to the Big Island. Property Manager is friendly, easy to work with and contact.
Our two week stay was everthing we had hoped for. Clean and beautiful accommodations with a scenic view of the golf course, and within walking distance of a market and great restaurants. The availability to two great bays for swimming and additional dining, made this a perfect location. A full gym kept us on track and we enjoyed the use of the golf cart for short trips. Would definitely consider this for future trips!
The house was as beautiful as shown. The location was a perfect base for traveling to beaches, Hilo, and other tourist spots, as well as a golf cart's ride away to the grocery store. Our family utilized the KaMilo community pools and hot tub frequently. Given the discovery that sand beaches are not readily accessible, the ability to use the Mauni Lani private sand beach and beach club is a special bonus. Kai and Bert were both very helpful in answering our questions.
Since we had stayed in the complex previously and had a great time, our expectations were high. I am happy to say that our expectations were met. As the pictures show and others have said, this is a beautiful unit. The furniture and beds were comfortable and the place was very clean and super quiet.
The kitchen was well stocked with all the essentials and more—fresh coffee, spices, oils and various condiments; good blender, sharp knives, rice cooker, etc.
The on-site manager, Burt Bonk was extremely accommodating and responsive. He brought us a brand new ice chest after we mentioned we’d like one to keep our food/drinks chilled on beach days and road trips.
The lanai area is very private and serene—the perfect place for a nap or a cocktail. Even with our group of six, we never felt crowded or the need to jockey for the “best” chaise as there were so many comfortable options for lounging.
The location of this unit is great, no more than a 5 minute walk to the recreation area/pool pavilion. The rec center includes two good-sized pools which are large enough and deep enough to really swim in. (There is also a separate, shallow area for kids.) During our two stays, we rarely saw others using the pool area. Note: the pools are not heated (which seems to be the norm in Hawaii) but in early June, the water temp was fine. When we visited in January, the pool temperature was on the chilly side, cold at first, but OK after warming up with a few laps (or a visit to the hot tub!)
While this is a terrific unit, the floor plan may be better suited to a family as opposed to two couples since the master suite (especially the master bath) is really grand and far larger than the second and third bathrooms.
Finally, the use of the garage was nice too as it kept our car cool.
Bottom line: we would not hesitate to rent this property again.
The pictures as beautiful as they are, don't do this rental justice! Perfect and beautiful. Great location to access the entire Big Island as we did! Property Manager Burt Bonk & company did a great job. Very easy.
After spending a week at this beautiful condo in Mauna Lani, my wife and I returned to the city refreshed and ready to face real life again. This condo was beautifully appointed, with everything you need for a relaxing time. The property manager Kai even went so far as to meet my request to have a martini shaker and glasses ready for us on our arrival. Having the golf cart was a big plus, as it made it that much easier to get to the pool area, and the beach club was a nice, quiet place to hang out and get some much needed sun. Overall a great place to stay, and we would recommend this rental to everyone.
