Guestbook comments from the manager

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Big River Lodge Main House. We traveled with another family, so we had two families of four staying in the main house. There was plenty of room, the amenities of the house were great. Having a full size kitchen well stocked with cooking supplies was a huge advantage for us and being able to cook meals there more than offset the additional cost of the rental. Our daughter is a student at MSU in Bozeman, and she was able to bring her boyfriend, his family, and another family over to visit and join us for dinner a couple nights. The set up was perfect for our needs.

The location next to the Gallatin River was spectacular. My husband would have liked to had better luck fishing :-), but he definitely enjoyed being able to get up in the morning and walk down to the river to fish. The river is a too large and fast to let children just play in the water here and they need to be supervised closely if they're at the river. We did find a nice spot a few miles closer to Bozeman where Spanish Creek joins the Gallatin that is much better suited for small children to fish and play in the water.

We also hired a one day tour guide, through Mountain Home's partner group, to take us into Yellowstone Park. Since it was our first visit to the park, it was extremely helpful to have someone show us the highlights of the park as well as explain a lot of the history behind the park. We were quite lucky, as we got to see two moose, a black bear, numerous bison and elk. Kim was an excellent tour guide and tailored the tour the the mixed group ranging from a 3 yr old to all of the adults.

Overall, the trip was a huge success, and everyone in the family would have loved to stay longer. We also had an opportunity to see the cabins at Big River Lodge and would definitely stay in one of those if we were travelling with just our family.
