If you enjoy design, you will love this long, low 1963 private home located in desirable south Palm Desert; completely re-imagined and remodeled by Hollywood designers whose goal was to 'create a get-away retreat that blended Mid-Century ambiance with upbeat 21st century amenities'.
An open concept interior features elegant white terrazzo floors with low-pile, carpeted bedrooms, a Euro-modern kitchen and mosaic tile bathrooms. The home is illuminated with a blend of contemporary (Jonathan Adler) and vintage (Paul Secon) fixtures. Large expanses of glass and sliding doors look out to resort-like grounds, with a backyard featuring a sparkling blue pool accented by clusters of mature palm trees.
And when you want to explore, El Paseo (the Rodeo Drive of the desert), just minutes away, boasts the best shopping and dining in the Coachella/Palm Springs Valley. The surrounding mountains offer an abundance of hiking trails. Golfing and tennis opportunities are also available, as well as big name entertainment at the McCallum Theater and local gaming venues.
The master bedroom features an en suite bathroom with a custom-converted sideboard for a double-sink vanity. Pierre Cardin night tables bookend the pillowtop Cal King bed. This room has a 46” inch TV and sliding door pool access.
The second bedroom has a queen-sized bed and TV. The third bedroom (pool-facing), with a daybed, can double as an office.
For your convenience, Martini Modern provides wireless Internet, DirectTV and a landline phone with long distance service covering all of North America.
You'll be transported back in time in a living room furnished with a blend of vintage teak and contemporary pieces, including period abstract paintings. Yet, a high-resolution sound system and a 60” TV provide a 21st Century entertainment experience.
An adjoining dining area can seat up to 8. A fully-outfitted custom kitchen features Caesarstone countertops and a bar that seats three. When you feel like staying in, a gas stove and oven, microwave, slow-cooker, mixer, blender are all you need to cook that great meal.

We chose this Mid-Century house for its generous corner lot, walled private back yard and pool area, and its long, low lines which provided us with a unique design opportunity. We love being in Palm Desert, an art-centric community, and for easy access to El Paseo, the Living Desert, and the many hiking trails in the surrounding mountains.
Before we renovated, we asked, 'What does this house want to be?'. Our answer was to update with fidelity to its original Mid-Century soul. Our daughter's 18 yr-old friend was visiting recently and validated our vision when she exclaimed, 'I feel like Marilyn Monroe is going to walk in!'.
My family and I have vacationed in Palm Desert for many years. When I walked into the house I immediately knew it was perfect and I was right. Our daughters thought it was amazing as well. The bedrooms are roomy and the bathrooms are lovely. The house is modern with a retro edge to it. The backyard is fantastic with many seating options. Ellen, the owner was great to work with. There was a renter's book that answered everything but I knew I could call her up if we had any problem. The location was the best too. We rode bikes and took long walks in the neighborhood. We will definitely go back.
My girlfriends and I spent 4 nights here in March, and we were thoroughly pleased with our choice. The house is meticulously designed. We loved everything about it - from the art on the walls to the outdoor landscaping. The house is very clean and well stocked. Ellen, the owner, is very responsive and cares that the renters are satisfied with their stay. We loved the location, close to shopping and restaurants. One of my girlfriends commented, "It definitely feels like a resort destination."
This house is perfect! Clean, great design.....the owner obviously put a lot of thought into making it comfortable and welcoming. This property is a perfect example of why we are big fans of Homeway. Thanks Ellen, we'll absolutely be back.
This property was perfect. From the modern and stylish finishings inside to the beautiful lounging area by the pool. It provides comfort and cool. Location is fantastic for supermarkets and fashion area - but we spent most of our time relaxing by the pool. Will hopefully make it again one day!
Our family of 5, (3 teenagers), loved staying at this home for a week during spring break. Everything was as advertised, very nicely renovated and decorated, exceptionally clean, comfortable beds, kitchen well equipped with all the dishes, pots utensils etc that are needed, tv, stereo and wi-fi all worked without any problems. The outdoor patio and pool were great. Beautiful yard and pool, it was so nice to sit back and relax in the sun.
The owners were very nice to deal with, provided local info for restaurants, shops etc. and no problems with payments and damage deposits.
The property is in a great location in Palm Desert, very central with lots of shops close by. We went hiking every morning, Golfed a few times and went ATVing one day, lots of fun..
We always ask one question after our trips; would we go back to the same location? All five of us agreed we would absolutely go back again.
I apologize to the owners of Martini Modern for this tardy review. You see, I am hesitant to let others in on this property. First of all, it is a true VRBO, in the original context of the site, a home rented by the owners, not a listing by some large property manager. Without going on and on, my husband and I found the house perfect in every way. The home, pool, yard (yes, it even has a yard!) are all immaculate and well cared for. It is well appointed and the kitchen has all the dishes, pot and pans, utensils you could ever need. . . including the martini shaker of course. The location is perfect as well, within easy walk or short car ride to grocery stores, Starbucks (hmmm, important for me), and close to El Paseo for great shopping and restaurants. Great location no matter where you golf and I loved riding my bike from there every day. I highly recommend the Martini Modern home to all. (Just not when I choose to rent it.) Enjoy!
