Orvieto Apartment Rental Photos and Description

2 bed, 1 bath, sleeps 4

Buon Giorno e Benvenuto!

Hello and welcome to 'Casa delle Case' - our charming 2-bedroom villa apartment located in the spectacular medieval hilltop town of Orvieto.

Located in Orvieto’s oldest and most charming neighborhood of San Giovanale, 'Casa delle Case' offers stunning panoramic views of the sun-drenched Tufa rock wall on which the medieval city was built.

The apartment is spacious in size. At over 700 square feet spread out on 1 level, it comfortably accommodates 1-4 persons.

The open floor plan is bright and airy and is comprised of a living room, dining room, full-sized kitchen, 2 bedrooms, 1 bath and a home office.

With careful attention to detail, the renovation of 'Casa delle Case' was recently completed in 2014 and offers guests the modern conveniences of today, yet incorporates antiquities and Umbrian country décor that retains the Italian charm of yesteryear!

The apartment is immaculately furnished and comes with most everything needed for a short or long-term stay. The kitchen will appeal to the most discriminating of chefs. With a professional, 5-burner gas range and stocked with all the dinnerware, glassware, pots, pans, utensils and small appliances needed to prepare simple antipasto or a full-fledged 5-course Italian meal.

In the master bedroom, a European matrimoniale (queen) bed awaits your slumber and in the guest bedroom, 2 European singolo (twin) beds offer maximum options for any sleeping arrangement.

You’ll find high quality linens for bed, bath and beyond, along with terrycloth robes, and a hair-dryer for your convenience.

Wi-Fi is supplied for free from the home office and its signal covers the entire apartment – perfect for watching TV or streaming music on any personal electronic device in any room.

Orvieto is one of the principal sights of the region of Umbria. Its situation is marvelous - perched high above tufa cliffs - showing traces of every phase of history for the past 3 thousand years. 'Casa delle Case' is the perfect base from which to explore the splendor of not only Orvieto but of the Umbrian countryside as well.

Only a few minutes walk from the apartment is the spectacular 14th Century Duomo (cathedral), known for its gleaming mosaic-covered facade it’s one of Italy's top Romanesque - Gothic masterpieces.

The tufa butte on which Orvieto is located is itself riddled with caves and wells dating from Etruscan times to only a couple of hundred years ago. The most spectacular of these is the Pozzo di San Patrizio, a deep well with a double spiral staircase leading to the water source at its base. It dates from 1537 and is 62 m deep. Above ground the streets are lined with shops and cafés where an espresso or caffe latte or cappuccino awaits your call. If something more substantial is on your menu, the collection of excellent Italian restaurants will certainly fit the bill.

'Casa delle Case’s' central location makes it easy for guests to get out and explore the beautiful unspoiled rural regions that Umbria and Tuscany have to offer. From the peaceful Lake Bolsena, to the many other historic hilltop towns, this area boasts many excellent wineries, and groves of olives, grapes and truffles flow over the softly rolling hills.

For ALL of this 'Casa delle Case' will be your home away from home!

Awesome time in Orvieto!

  • 5 of 5

We searched a large inventory of accommodations before finding this beyond perfect spot in Orvieto. Impeccably spotless, spacious, well maintained and we loved the location. Our daughter was studying in the town and this space allowed her to come for dinner. Shopping at the market, enjoying a hot cup of tea in the kitchen, being able to do our laundry - were all big bonus's to our stay here. Thank you Nancy and Toni!

Perfect stay for our second visit to Orvieto

  • 5 of 5

Two years ago we rented a villa outside of Orvieto when we traveled with a large group. We couldn't wait to return to Orvieto for a more relaxing stay. Since there were only four of us for our return trip, Casa dell Case was perfect for us. Toni was wonderful with meeting us and providing us information on shops and restaurants in Orvieto. She was also extremely responsive when I would text her with questions during our stay. Everything about our stay was perfect.

Culture and relaxation at its finest

We recently spent an awesome 2 week vacation at Casa delle Case . We have rented from the Nancy and Rob in Belize and left having high expectations and no reservations booking our entire vacation at their apartment. Our expectations were exceeded ( thank you Rob and Nancy). Nancy has great customer service and that carries over with Toni in Orvieto. The apartment is in a great and quiet location in Oriveto, I looked forward to my coffee moments every morning with the view of the town out the windows. The apartment was very comfortable we had a couple of rainy days and had no problem lazing around the aparment all day. The kitched was well equipped for cooking on days that we didnt visit one of the many great restaurants in Orvieto. The wifi connections was great for staying connected while on vacation. Orvieto has a lot of history and charm to absorb, it also has great access to the trains and makes a great base for exploring some of the other beautiful and sometimes busy cities of Italy. We always enjoyed returning from our daily adventures to the quaint and slow pace of Orvieto. If you are planning a trip to Italy, Casa delle Case should be a the top of your list for a wonderful place to stay.

My husband and I recently spent part of our honeymoon at this apartment in Orvieto. We LOVED it. Everything....and I mean EVERYTHING.....from the first communication with the owners, to communication with Toni, to date changes, to amenities and answered quality. This apartment exceeds the photos and description in VRBO because more senses are engaged when you walk in. With the windows open, we had charming views of the neighbor's rooftops and fruit tree, and the occasional sound of the church bells. We loved getting out and seeing Orvieto and surroundings areas, but then we loved coming "home" to Casa della Case to cook, read, relax. It was fun to meet up with Toni for breakfast in town as well. We would definitely return here. We now have wonderful memories of Orvieto. To top it off, a bottle of Prosecco and a handmade "honeymoon" card awaited us on the table when we arrived. So sweet.

Picture Perfection. It Could Not Be Any Better Than This.

I was in Orvieto recently for a friend's destination wedding, and found this charming, elegant, newly-remodeled and apartment to be the perfect place to spend a few relaxing days. It is a short walk to everything Orvieto has to offer. It has been tastefully remodeled and redecorated recently. The kitchen was clean, modern and functional, and includes everything you need to prepare your own meals and relax at home. In fact, this apartment, its furnishings and linens were more like a five-star hotel suite than a rental unit. And the property manager, Toni, could not have been more polite and helpful. She even provided a guide of the best restaurants and hangouts in Orvieto. I would recommend this unit without hesitation and I will definitely stay there the next time I am in Orvieto. This is a five-star review for a five-star vacation rental. You cannot go wrong here and will be very, very happy you choose this apartment for your visit.

AS beautiful as advertised!

  • 5 of 5

I (husband) made all the reservations for our 14 day adventure in Italy. This was our first stop, my wife was VERY happy. We loved everything about this apartment. The view out the windows is unique and wonderful. It's decorated quite nicely, all amenities are there. The photos in the listing are very acurate. We made our own coffee in the mornings, enjoyed it while looking out onto the rooftops of this ancient, great-walled town. WIFI worked well. Communication with owner and property managers was great. Location was excellent, is even close to the outside(the Orvieto walls) parking lot if you have a car, which you will need to visit the beautiful Umbrian hill towns in the area. Greater Orvieto was a short walk away - to the sites, restaurants, Gelato and shopping. We arrived on a rainy night, rode the funicular up into town. Caught the shuttle into the nearby Piazza Ascanio. Alex met us promptly, thoughtfully armed with umbrellas for us. We made the short walk down to the apartment, dropped our bags off, then Alex escorted us up into town, showing us where we could get a bite to eat, and bottle of wine. We hope to make it back to Orvieto on a future trip, and only when Casa della Case has an available date. We'd defintely recommend to our friends. Try Tattoria del Moro Aronne for a dinner, it's as good as Rick Steve's recommendation. Remember, "Vino rosso della casa per favore" (the red house wine, please).

Orvieto is centrally located in Italy’s Umbria region. It sits alongside the Autostrada A-1 (the spinal cord of the country’s highway system connecting Milan and Naples) so it’s easily accessible by car or train (only 1 hour on the regional train line between Rome Termini and Florence/Santa Maria Novella).

If Arriving By Train…

From outside Orvieto’s train station take the funicolare (funicular rail car) that runs every 10 minutes up to town. From Piazza Cahen take the picturesque 15-minute stroll up the Corso Cavour to the historical center or hop on the bus that drops visitors off at the Duomo or Piazza della Repubblica. Casa delle Case is just a short walk from the center of town.

If Arriving By Car…

There are several parking lots in town, but the closest to Casa delle Case and easiest to access is the Forum Boario lot on the western end of the town, accessible from the Strada della Stazione to Via delle Conce. This lot offers both open and covered garage parking and has an escalator (scala mobile) or elevator (ascensore) up to the center of town.

Must Sees…

Duomo di Orvieto - This 14th century Roman Catholic Cathedral is one of the most spectacular and important in Italy. Its Capello di Madonna di San Brizio contains Luca Signorelli’s (c. 1445 –1523) Last Judgment, considered by many to be his masterpiece.

Orvieto Underground - This tour leads you through an utterly fascinating subterranean network of medieval caves, tunnels and Etruscan wells.

Torre del Moro - The 13th century clock tower chimes on the hour, half and quarter hours, so you’ll never need a wristwatch. Climb the 270 stairs to the top for a bird’s eye view of Orvieto’s terracotta rooftops and surrounding countryside.

Pozzo di San Patrizio (St. Patrick’s Well) - Dating back to 1537, the largest of the town’s subterranean wells measures 62-meters-deep and has two spiral staircases, one for descending and one for ascending, that provided residents essential access to the water source at its base.

Crocifisso del Tufo Etruscan Necropolis (Etruscan Tombs) - One of only two Etruscan necropolises in Umbria, it dates back to the mid-6th century B.C. and is an enlightening example of the engineering superiority of this ancient but highly advanced civilization.
