Orvieto Apartment Rental Photos and Description

2 bed, 1 bath, sleeps 4

Buon Giorno e Benvenuto!

Hello and welcome to 'Casa delle Case' - our charming 2-bedroom villa apartment located in the spectacular medieval hilltop town of Orvieto.

THE ACCOMODATION:

Located in Orvieto’s oldest and most charming neighborhood of San Giovanale, 'Casa delle Case' offers stunning panoramic views of the sun-drenched Tufa rock wall on which the medieval city was built.

The apartment is spacious in size. At over 700 square feet spread out on 1 level, it comfortably accommodates 1-4 persons.

The open floor plan is bright and airy and is comprised of a living room, dining room, full-sized kitchen, 2 bedrooms, 1 bath and a home office.

With careful attention to detail, the renovation of 'Casa delle Case' was recently completed in 2014 and offers guests the modern conveniences of today, yet incorporates antiquities and Umbrian country décor that retains the Italian charm of yesteryear!

THE AMENITITES:

The apartment is immaculately furnished and comes with most everything needed for a short or long-term stay. The kitchen will appeal to the most discriminating of chefs. With a professional, 5-burner gas range and stocked with all the dinnerware, glassware, pots, pans, utensils and small appliances needed to prepare simple antipasto or a full-fledged 5-course Italian meal.

In the master bedroom, a European matrimoniale (queen) bed awaits your slumber and in the guest bedroom, 2 European singolo (twin) beds offer maximum options for any sleeping arrangement.

You’ll find high quality linens for bed, bath and beyond, along with terrycloth robes, and a hair-dryer for your convenience.

Wi-Fi is supplied for free from the home office and its signal covers the entire apartment – perfect for watching TV or streaming music on any personal electronic device in any room.

ORVIETO:

Orvieto is one of the principal sights of the region of Umbria. Its situation is marvelous - perched high above tufa cliffs - showing traces of every phase of history for the past 3 thousand years. 'Casa delle Case' is the perfect base from which to explore the splendor of not only Orvieto but of the Umbrian countryside as well.

Only a few minutes walk from the apartment is the spectacular 14th Century Duomo (cathedral), known for its gleaming mosaic-covered facade it’s one of Italy's top Romanesque - Gothic masterpieces.

The tufa butte on which Orvieto is located is itself riddled with caves and wells dating from Etruscan times to only a couple of hundred years ago. The most spectacular of these is the Pozzo di San Patrizio, a deep well with a double spiral staircase leading to the water source at its base. It dates from 1537 and is 62 m deep. Above ground the streets are lined with shops and cafés where an espresso or caffe latte or cappuccino awaits your call. If something more substantial is on your menu, the collection of excellent Italian restaurants will certainly fit the bill.

'Casa delle Case’s' central location makes it easy for guests to get out and explore the beautiful unspoiled rural regions that Umbria and Tuscany have to offer. From the peaceful Lake Bolsena, to the many other historic hilltop towns, this area boasts many excellent wineries, and groves of olives, grapes and truffles flow over the softly rolling hills.

For ALL of this 'Casa delle Case' will be your home away from home!

Orvieto Retreat

  • 5 of 5
We were so pleased with the lovely Casa Case. It was nicely appointed, supplied with everything we needed, immaculately clean, beds were very comfortable, the common area open and spacious. Though there is no outdoor area, the windows open fully to let in the light and fresh air, and the views--upon Orvieto and into the surrounding countryside--are exquisite. The location suited us very well. It is right on the wall, and therefore quieter and out of the fray of the city, yet everything is a short walk away (up hill, so great exercise!). We both commented when we arrived that the apartment is even better than the photos! Nancy responded immediately to our queries when making travel arrangements. Our only disappointment was that we couldn't stay longer!

Vacanza Perfetta

  • 5 of 5
Three of my girlfriends and I spent four wonderful days in this beautiful apartment and then as they went their separate ways, my husband joined me. This apartment is truly perfect. Although not very big, the owners have made it feel incredibly spacious. We had wonderful dinners in front of the huge windows that offered a lovely view. All rooms have windows, making the space very light and airy. It is convenient to anything your heart desires. The owners made booking very easy and Toni made the arrival and departures easy. Once again, I say, "vacanza perfetta!"

Could there be a better place for an Umbrian holiday?? We don't think so!

Could there be a better place for an Umbrian holiday?? We don't think so!
  • 5 of 5
We recently spent one of the most magical five days possible at this superb apartment in the gorgeous Umbrian town of Orvieto. The apartment has been beautifully renovated, is spacious and very comfortable, and if anything exceeded the expectations we had from the description and photos. We particularly appreciated the generosity and inherent hospitality in how the apartment is equipped - great wine glasses, cutlery, crockery and cooking utensils - especially the good knives! It meant we could shop for local food and cook at home which we really enjoyed doing especially after having been 'on the road' travelling for a while. The owners were warm and generous in every communication we had, and the information provided both about the apartment and the town itself was really comprehensive! Toni, the local property manger, was truly wonderful, warm and welcoming, she could not have been more helpful - great detail about how everything in the apartment works, and about the best places to eat and visit. We loved every bit of Orvieto - the sensational views from the top of the town, the winding cobbled streets, the history and stunning art, the local food and wine, the cheery 'Buongiorno's from the locals as we meandered around the town - we would be on the first plane back if we could! Thank you Nancy, Rob and Toni - a holiday from heaven!

Immaculate Condo in Medieval Location with Incredible Views!

  • 5 of 5
I spent 9 nights at this centrally located, spacious, well equipped, newly renovated condo with beautiful views out the windows that make one think they have stepped back in time.
As a retired nurse my number one criteria of being spotlessly clean was met. It was immaculate and better equipped than any rental I have experienced. I was happy to find Q Tips in the bathroom, excited when I found the stir blender, and jumping up and down when I eyed the salad spinner. There were plenty of fresh herbs to go with all the fresh market greens I found at the Market. Having a washing machine allowed me to pack light.
Orvieto is definitely a hill city. As an oxygen dependent person who is in great physical condition I was able to manage not only the hills into town (and I found the elevator/escalator) as well as the two flights of steps to get to the apartment. I was always happy though that coming home after dinner was always downhill. The views were always amazing and I felt like I was living in a museum. For a bigger challenge I hiked most of the Anello La Rupe Trail. Despite my 9-day stay there were many activities I did not have time for and my hope is to return.
The owners, Rob and Nancy went above and beyond. They were excellent in communicating about the apartment and honest about potential challenges of the hills and stairs for a disabled person. Their apartment manager, Toni, really made a big difference in my visit. Besides the usual apartment orientation, she remained available to assist with questions about the area and apartment, as well as activities in the area that were not necessarily published or available to the common tourist. Toni made the difference for me to feel more like a local than a tourist. I am very grateful for her assistance.
I hope to return some day for more Orvieto adventures!

Comfort and charm - a home away from home

  • 5 of 5
Can I give this a 6-star rating?
Wow, what a beautiful apartment in a stunning town! After years of timeshares and other condo/apt trades and rentals, we've never found a more comfortable and well-appointed property. Everything you could imagine is included. Usually, the pictures oversell a property. In this case, the property is actually better than the pictures show (if you can imagine that).
And Orvieto proved to be the perfect home base for both local food, drink and history, as well as easy access by train with no need for a car. We spent the week at Casa delle Case and made easy day trips on the train to both Rome and Florence.
Toni - the local property manager - was absolutely fantastic; from tips on the best places to eat and shop, suggestions on travel and tour operators, making dinner reservations and negotiating with the airline when they delayed our luggage. She proved to be an invaluable resource in town.
Hats off to you, Rob and Nancy, for putting together a truly spectacular getaway location. We're already trying to figure out when we can come back again.

beautifully restored apartment in Orvieto

  • 5 of 5
This 2 bedroom apartment in the old part of Orvieto was recently renovated. It is comfortably and tastefully furnished, and includes all of the conveniences of home. The street outside is quiet, yet the apartment is only a short walk to the restaurants and historical sites of Orvieto. There is an American property manager who greeted us on our arrival and was available for assistance during our four-night stay. This apartment is an ideal location for a visit to Orvieto and the beautiful Umbrian countryside.

Orvieto is centrally located in Italy’s Umbria region. It sits alongside the Autostrada A-1 (the spinal cord of the country’s highway system connecting Milan and Naples) so it’s easily accessible by car or train (only 1 hour on the regional train line between Rome Termini and Florence/Santa Maria Novella).

If Arriving By Train…

From outside Orvieto’s train station take the funicolare (funicular rail car) that runs every 10 minutes up to town. From Piazza Cahen take the picturesque 15-minute stroll up the Corso Cavour to the historical center or hop on the bus that drops visitors off at the Duomo or Piazza della Repubblica. Casa delle Case is just a short walk from the center of town.

If Arriving By Car…

There are several parking lots in town, but the closest to Casa delle Case and easiest to access is the Forum Boario lot on the western end of the town, accessible from the Strada della Stazione to Via delle Conce. This lot offers both open and covered garage parking and has an escalator (scala mobile) or elevator (ascensore) up to the center of town.

Must Sees…

Duomo di Orvieto - This 14th century Roman Catholic Cathedral is one of the most spectacular and important in Italy. Its Capello di Madonna di San Brizio contains Luca Signorelli’s (c. 1445 –1523) Last Judgment, considered by many to be his masterpiece.

Orvieto Underground - This tour leads you through an utterly fascinating subterranean network of medieval caves, tunnels and Etruscan wells.

Torre del Moro - The 13th century clock tower chimes on the hour, half and quarter hours, so you’ll never need a wristwatch. Climb the 270 stairs to the top for a bird’s eye view of Orvieto’s terracotta rooftops and surrounding countryside.

Pozzo di San Patrizio (St. Patrick’s Well) - Dating back to 1537, the largest of the town’s subterranean wells measures 62-meters-deep and has two spiral staircases, one for descending and one for ascending, that provided residents essential access to the water source at its base.

Crocifisso del Tufo Etruscan Necropolis (Etruscan Tombs) - One of only two Etruscan necropolises in Umbria, it dates back to the mid-6th century B.C. and is an enlightening example of the engineering superiority of this ancient but highly advanced civilization.
