Oasi Residence and Castellabate Resorts

Keith, Sharon and Katie Teddington, UK
Review Submitted: July 30, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
Oasi is situated a little way away from the bigger tourist sites but within easy reach by car of Pompeii, Herculaneum and Capri.

San Marco is quite a small village with a few shops and restaurants. Santa Maria, easily reached by car or along the beach by foot, is bigger with more restaurants and shops. Both are still small enough to be charming little seaside resorts. Restaurant Arlecchino beside the beach in Santa Maria serves the most fanatastic pizzas you could ever imagine. Tha pasta wasn’t bad either!

Our apartment was spacious and nicely furnished, with plenty of seating for outside relaxation and eating on the balcony. We also had super views of the beautiful Oasi garden, the hilltop village of Castellabate and the sea.

Mila and Tomasso, who were living in one of the 6 apartments, went out of their way to help us, even driving with us to show us exactly how to get to the best supermarket, petrol station and car park in Santa Maria. They couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful.

We did visit the beach between San Marco and Santa Maria, where Oasi had arrangements for loungers and parasols for the residents but generally we preferred to sit on our terrace and swim in the pool.

If you are looking for a peaceful and tranquil base to enjoy the area, Oasi is ideal.

A week in Paradise

Review Submitted: September 13, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
This was a wonderful, peaceful place to stay. We had four adults in the apartment and it was not too crowded. The garden is amazing: it really is an oasis. We enjoyed breakfast on the terrace every morning; it was so pleasant looking out over the plants and the pool.

The swimming pool is clean, the accommodation is spacious and the owners could not have done more to help us enjoy our stay. Mila speaks English which was a great help.

We found that it was a bit of a walk to the beach for the two of us in the party with Chronic Fatigue but it was worth it, and when we took the car it was easy to park. The water was clean and warm, the beach sandy and the owners had arranged for free use of a sunlounger, chair and umbrella. I haven't spent so long on the beach in years.

There are two "supermercati" (corner shops) within easy reach on foot and a couple of restaurants, one of which also does take-out pizza. The little village has an unspoilt feel to it and everyone sitting watching the world go by responded to our halting "buon giorno" or "buona sera" with a warm smile.

Pompeii is visitable and worth the drive. We hired a guide which was expensive but worthwhile. We were less impressed with the boat trip to Capri, as the island was very crowded. It is very pretty but then so was where we were staying.

We were very sorry to leave and would definitely recommend this apartment to our friends.
