We're high on the hill on Lake Trail Road and close to Comox Lake and all the wilderness around it. Follow it far enough and Lake Trail will take you all the way to Port Alberni on the west coast (4 wheel only). Along the shores of the lake you can access great mountain biking trails, walk in the Comox Lake Bluffs Ecological Reserve or drive to the trail head for a hike to the Comox Glacier.
Wilderness at our doorstep yet we're just 5 minutes from down-town Courtenay
We custom built this guest house with privacy in mind. Your own driveway, your own suite, your own yard. Peaceful rural surroundings yet so close to town. Room in the yard to play with the kids but just minutes from beaches and water parks in town.
Great place. Chris and Molly are nice people. They left a "starter kit" of delicious homemade muffins, breakfast granola, eggs, coffee, tea, cream, fruit! chocolates etc. It was brand new, clean, quiet, roomy, good TV and internet. Comfy bed, towels, even slippers! We will be back this summer.
we stay here for 2 weeks and it was a excellent location to see the comox valley.Chris and Molly were the best hosts. There was everything possible in the guest house and out.Molly jam was the best we should got more from her.We will be back there next year to explore the island more.We hope that when we plan your trip that there will be a opening at the copper fern.
We were looking for a nice relaxing affordable place to stay for a couple of days while I was back in the Valley for a quick visit. The Copper Fern stood out on the listings, so we booked. When we arrived, Chris, the owner was there to greet us and gave us a full tour. The suite is immaculate, essentially brand new, and there was everything one would ever need there. What a nice surprise to have the fridge filled with food for our breakfast the first morning, in fact so much that we didn't eat it all even after 2 days. Molly even had made wonderful muffins for us, MMmmmmm. The bed was very comfortable and the futons in the living room folded down easy for our son to sleep on. The place is so quiet as you are in the country, yet only a couple of minutes from downtown Courtenay. We didn't get outside much due to the snow, but loved the gate to the back yard and the fact that Chris and Molly have a huge garden. We really want to come back and see what it looks like later in the year when all the plants are up and producing. Around the suite are a variety of books and of course WiFi and TV. I had an event to attend on Saturday, so my wife just hung out in the suite all day and found it so peaceful just being there. For what is there and the price to stay there, we will definitely be back to the Copper Fern again and again.
The Comox Valley encompasses the three communities of Courtenay, Comox, and Cumberland, each carved from the natural beauty of the surrounding forest and farmland. The area is renowned for its outdoor recreation opportunities which is maybe best exemplified every spring by the Annual Snow to Surf Race featuring snow shoeing, alpine skiing, Nordic skiing, running, mountain biking, kayaking, road biking, and canoeing. We have it all in the Comox Valley.
In addition to outdoor pursuits, the Comox Valley boasts world-class restaurants. Their mouth-watering fare is often locally produced from the myriad farms in the area.
The Comox Valley is one of the largest agricultural areas on Vancouver Island. Our Farmer’s Markets are held every week throughout the year – usually on Saturday mornings – and there is always great food and great music.
Music is another year-long attraction in the Comox Valley available at small venues like “The Waverley” and the 'Cumberland Hotel' in Cumberland, the 'Little Red Church' in Comox to three day long events like the Vancouver Island Music Fest held every July in Courtenay.
