Casa Isabella is an old two-storey olive presser`s cottage, white walled, intrinsically Spanish and lovingly restored, with two wooden beamed bedrooms and a mezzanine lounge. Whilst downstairs there is a comfortable sitting room with log burning stove for those cosy Winter evenings, a separate dining room, kitchen and bathroom. Sun blessed where once the mule was kept, is a courtyard sanctuary. Located on the outskirts of the village and leading straight into the countryside , within walking distance of all amenities including village pool set in its own gardens and many excellent (typically Spanish) restaurants and tapas bars, where you can experience the atmosphere of a truly Andalucian Spanish white village. The pretty mountain village of El Burgo, shadowed by the sierras , in a National Park and surrounded by olive and almond groves was once the haunt of revered bandit Pasos Largos, otherwise Big Steps. Although he's long gone the soaring eagles and shy ibex remain in this terrain of the walker, birdwatcher and lover of the quiet life. Discover this area of outstanding natural beauty with its many marked trails from gentle walks to long hikes along the river turron and its many rock pools or just rest and take in the peace and countryside. Situated 20 min from historic Ronda and the Malaga Lake District but still in easy reach of the airport and coastal region, this is a enchanting base to explore and enjoy the real Spain.

The cottage has been restored to a high standard keeping all of its charmingly Spanish original features, with 2 spacious wooden beamed bedrooms with stunning views of the surrounding mountains. Downstairs Ronda style terracotta tiles run throughout, with a unique fireplace with cast iron log burning stove.The bathroom has a large mosaic walk in shower. A converted wooden beamed stable now the kitchen is fully equipped with large fridge freezer, full sized oven, washing machine and granite work surfaces, leading out from the kitchen is the secluded courtyard with various pot plants and a wisteria covered seating area where you can dine or just sit and relax. The cottage has been furnished with comfort and character in mind to create a very special atmosphere. Casa Isabella is an absolutely charming little house that has been sympathetically renovated and beautifully furnished with every attention to detail. We were warned that the house may be unsuitable for small children due to safety issues. However, for our children who are 4 and 6 years old I was not worried at all about their safety. It might be a problem if I had a toddler or a child who had no sense of danger, as the house is typically mediterranean with tiled floors and stone steps and the upstairs windows are low down.
Our children loved the house and were very reluctant to leave. They enjoyed visiting the local swimming pool, which has beautiful views over the mountains and visiting nearby lakes and the beach. The people in the village were very welcoming and we felt that we got a feel for the real Andalucia. I would definitely recommend this property to other travellers.

El Burgo is a great rural location and is equal distance from the great cultural centresof Granada Cordoba and Seville; we spent Christmas Eve at the Alhambra in Granada an easy day trip from El Burgo by Car. Casa Isabella is very comfortable and so quiet at night there are good shops in the Village selling a whole range of local produce. There are great local walks in the Sierra de las Nieves a great place to stay at very reasonable price, ideal for walking and visiting the historic centres of this part of Andalusia we highly recommend a stay at Casa Isabella.
