Recently renovated, the comfortable cottage, set 1 km outside of the village, offers flexible accommodation, on 2 floors, which is ideal for 2 families. Downstairs, there are 2 bedrooms, 1 double, 1 twin and a bathroom. Upstairs, there is 1 large double bedroom and an adjoining smaller bedroom which can sleep 2 (twin). This area has a fabulous walk in wet room shower and WC (en suite). Outside, is the pool and some loungers.for relaxing in the sun. Pool is also partially shaded. There is a large garden area where you can relax in the sun, eat at the table and chairs, use the BBQ. There is plenty of room to spread out and relax. There is also a little 'secret garden' which has a canopy of trees and you can relax in the hammock . This area also has an area for clothes drying. At the rear, there is a huge 2 acre field and the children can play here in absolute saftey. This lovely house enables you to enjoy the beauty of French country living with the total comfort of modern living

Jurignac is a quiet little village, surrounded by vineyards, which has a small grocers/boulangerie, a post office and it's very own Cognac house, where you can sample and buy the village's own label cognac.Easy to get to, the nearest on/off for the RN 10 is about 3 miles, this access to allows you to travel to other parts of the area and see many of the other beautiful villages and towns close by. Angouleme, a large town with a wonderful 'old town' full of busy restaurants and shopping , is just 20 minutes drive away. It also boasts a fabulous water park, Nautilus, which has both indoor and outdoor pools. The smaller towns of Chateauneuf and Barbezieux, again both with open air swimming pools for daytime fun and a good selection of restaurants and bars for the evening. The summer temperatures are usually very warm, and the River Charente is close by (less than 10 minutes) and there you can swim if you wish or enjoy a drink at the riverside bars and restaurants.

  • £150 deposit required for 1 week or less. £300 for longer stays. This secures your booking and is the security deposit also.The total amount is due 8 weeks prior to arrival. This balance will be the FULL amount and the deposit will be refunded in full when to cottage is returned in a clean, good condition.
    Cleaning charges arte not added but please leave the cottage as you would expect to find it. All cleaning materials are supplied free of charge.

    Please note. July, August and 2 week bookings are preferred.
  • What's included?
    All utilities (electricity, water gas etc). Bed linen and kitchen linen and towels, but please bring beach towels.
    A welcome pack (seasonal) of some basics to start you off (milk, bread eggs fruit and some wine!).
    An evening meal can be arranged for on your day if arrival (must be arranged in advance. (Charge) A sample menu can be sent to you and most diet requirements can be explored.
    Please note: As with all holidays abroad, please arrange your own travel insurance.

  • Both of the bathrooms are completely new and very well appointed. With attractive tiled floors and walls, it offers luxury and practicality. There are mirrors and towel rails. Having both bathrooms in the property makes this perfect for two families as it offers excellent privacy and convenience.

  • The downstairs double is fresh and bright and has a excellent hanging space and a roomy chest of drawers. 2 bedside tables with lamps make it comfortable for nightime. The large windows overlook the garden area. The twin room, just next door is bright and also has large windows overlooking the garden. A good sized chest of drwers and more hanging space in the built in cupboard in the hallway just outside the door. Upstairs the room has a spacious outlay walking through to the second bedroom which is perfect for a family with younger children. There is an ensuite , a luxury walk in 'wet room'

Notes: The pool is newly installed and perfect for hot sunny days. It is set in a part of the garden which is enclosed offering great safety for younger children. Exclusive use. The River Charente offers canoeing,swimming and lovely riverside walks. There are also other activities, horse riding, tours of Cognac making process, French country markets. A little further afield is the Futuroscope centre at Poitiers (one and half hours drive). The fabulous aquarium in beautiful historic La Rochelle (one and half hours drive) or just another few kms, visit the scenically perfect Ile de Re, a beautiful island off the coast of La Rochelle, where the rich Parisians have the holiday homes. A little further down the coast are the busy beach resorts of Royan and St Georges, where you can enjoy the lovely sandy beaches and perhaps sample the wonderful local fish and seafood restaurants. Or you can drive down to Arcachon and explore the amazing sand dunes and beautiful isolated beaches

Travelling: Although Bordeaux is the largest International airport, this area is very well served by other smaller airports especially used by the budget airlines. Ryanair. Angouleme - 25 minutes. New service. Really convenient. Bergerac - one hour, Limoges - one hour, La Rochelle - one and a half hours, Poitiers - one and a half hours. Bmibaby - Bordeaux - 45/55 minutes. Flybe - Bergerac. La Rochelle. All of these airports have car hire facilities, so driving here may not be your only alternative.

Outdoor facilities.: The pool is recently installed and great for the kids to play and adults to cool down. It is set in a private enclosed garden (see photo) and has sun loungers to relax. As it is set in partial shade, it can let the children play with greater saftey. It is exlcusively for your use. No sharing. We have tried to think of keeping the children occupied and have a great assortment of outdoor games and toys. There is also a selection of cycles guests are more than welcome to borrow. We also have a go kart and apart from asking a donation towards the petrol money and Jeff can be persuaded (doesn't take too much!!) the kart can be used in the large field at the back of the house. There is boules,swing ball, a weird Swedish game left by somne visitors like skittles,badminton, a small pool table,large table tennis, to name but a few.

Other Activities: There is a very large garden at the rear of the property and is ideal for children to play. Ideal for cricket and football.

Four adults looking for a peaceful retreat yet accessibility to local amenites found this a wonderful setting. Lots of areas to walk, cycle(cycles on site) and easy access to main roads for visiting some lovely little villages and larger towns. Very little traffic passed this way so walking on the roads no problem.
A very welcome pack provided by Liz saved us having to think about a meal upon arrival and the freedom to pick peaches, figs, plums etc from the garden gave us a steady supply of fruit.
The house is well maintained and very spacious and the kitchen well equipped( althiough having Liz, Jeff and Chay living on site meant that anything we needed they were willing to provide) Although the three of them lived next door we rarely saw them unless we asked for their help with places to visit in the area.
Views spectacular, tranquility unforgettable and would not hesitate to return or recommend to friends.

Rural perfection

We have just returned from 2 weeks in this perfect property. Very spacious, very clean and well-equipped. The pool is an added bonus.
The house is perfectly located, being far enough away from busy raods yet near enough for excellent days out. Would recommend Arcachon, Royan, Cognac, Aubeterre and St Emillion.Barbeziuex and Chateauneuf also lovely.Great hotel restaurant in Barbeziuex in the garden terrace.
Excellent holiday for lovers of Bordeaux and Cognac. Plenty for all the family to see and do: children and the energetic would enjoy the cycles to explore the locality.
Owners helpful and friendly but they keep a respectful distance so you can come and go as you please. Highly recommended.

What an excellent holiday choice for all my family

I just had to write and say what a fab time me and my family had at this cottage in Poitou-Charentes, there is loads to do and see, the cottage is surrounded by stunning countryside, is also a great place to go and just relax, this is the true France, we will definately go back, many thanks for looking after us all so well.

Everything you could want from your holiday!

This beautiful home is linked to a choice of several airports by good main roads - a must when travelling with 3 children! Our comfortable, spacious and well-appointed accommotation was set in quiet countryside amid grape-vines and offering fantastic views from its elevated position. The property boasts a very large, safe and private garden. Our friendly and helpful hosts had a wealth of knowledge and suggestions of places to visit and of the local amenities available. The house has been tastefully and sympathetically refurbished to give a true taste of French life (particularly visible in the kitchen!) providing both the means and atmosphere for a relaxed and enjoyable holiday. We'll be back!

Wonderful Scenery

We stayed in May 2008 and the gite is fabulous. Very large,really clean, well equipped, lovely shower/wet room with great views ( as you shower)
Liz & Jeff were very friendly and also they were very helpful with directions and things to go and see.
The location is very quiet and perfect for a relaxing time.
We visited cognac, and a lovely drive to the coast. Went into the local town (Barbezieux) for a great pizza.
Worth a holiday there.
