We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sam's place in the heart of Paris with 3 small children aged, 6, 3 and 5 months old. We stayed there for 6 nights and was sad to leave without seeing any snow. Sam's description of the place was very accurate and the location was the best. We walked to the Louvre almost every day and was able to get on a hop on/hop off bus from Hard Rock Cafe just across the street. Sam's place was clean enough but we had to move some furniture around the studio to make enough space for all 5 of us. Even tho the studio was small it was cozy enough and we enjoyed our stay. Also on our last day Sam allowed us to check out late due to our late flight and having a baby. She accommodated every needs we had and was even willing to make an appointment with her doctor when i became ill for a day! When/if we go back to Paris, we'll definitely stay at Sam's place again. Thanks Sam, for such a wonderful experience in Paris!

Absolutely fantastic place for our Paris holiday

  • 5 of 5

This place was amazing, just what we needed for myself and partner and our 11 year old daughter. You could literally walk to all the brilliant sites of Paris, we only caught the metro a couple of times. The location is just wonderful and is just a few minutes walk from the louvre and the Opera house.

Sam was great, easy to deal with and answered all my questions promptly.

I would definitely return.

Great location, and Value!

  • 5 of 5

Very clean and organized. The apartment complex is secure and well maintained. The apartment had everything we needed to tour Paris for 4 days. Excellent location. The apartment is small, but comfortable, a good way to experience the Parisian lifestyle. There were 3 of us, it was perfect for 2 people in the bedroom and one person on a Futon. Family of 4 people would be a tight fit, but do-able. Not a good choice for 2 couples. The Futons were of high quality and comfortable. Plenty of heat. Directions to the apartment were great. Arrival was challenging, no-one to meet us, and a policeman had to "buzz us in" the front gate. After that, settling in was easy. The elevator is a plus, but it broke on the last day. Internet connection was excellent. Very Large flat screen TV for when you tire of playing tourist. Agree that it would be good to have a list of directions on how to use the appliances and the heaters. Thank you!

Super location, well equipped apartment

  • 4 of 5

The location is super, as advertised. In fact, everything is "as advertised". Yes, the elevator is small, it's an old building but it worked flawlessly. Everything in the apartment worked well. We were surprised that the owner didn't provide any written instruction on the operation of appliances, the heat, etc. Sure, we were able to figure most of it out but there's no reason we should have to experiment or call the owner. Written instructions will ensure that the appliances are being used correctly and save time for the renter.

If you're there during opera season, get some tickets and go. It was a fabulous experience. We've been to the opera in Los Angeles, but Palais Garnier is over the top.

Excellent apartment

  • 5 of 5

I rented this apartment for my guests (my family who came to our wedding) and they stayed there between Oct. 25 to 28, 2014. It is a beautiful apartment with great location. It is clean and very well maintained. My guests enjoyed their stay very much and they told me that they felt like home. I would like to also extend a special thanks to Samantha, the landlady, for her exceptional cooperation and hospitality. I would definitely recommend this apartment to any body who would like to stay in Paris.

Disappointing

  • 1 of 5

The location of the apartment is great! Step outside, go left and you are right on a busy street with cafe's, the metro, the hop-on-hop-off bus, etc… It's walking distance (not 5 minutes like others have stated-more like 15-20 and we are fast walkers) to historic museums, and "must see" other places.

Unfortunately, we were very disappointed as to the condition of the apartment. It really only sleeps 2 adults comfortably. This is similar in size to a studio apartment in the US. There is only 1 king sized bed in the room, with a small (love seat size) sofa and chair that are both very old, worn, and uncomfortable all crammed in the same room. The kitchen is small, sparsely stocked with the very basic dishes. There were 4 of us adults, so 2 of us slept on fold-out foam pads on the floor. We had to rearrange the room just to get space on the floor to put the foam pads. The bathroom shower is like camp showering, and the pipes in the bathroom look like they are leaking. And be very careful with the elevator (lift). It only holds 2 people (squeeze in), and we got stuck a few times. And the staircase (apartment is on the 6th floor) is very dark at night.

We survived, but I didn't really expect to go to Paris for the first time and sleep on the floor and feel like I was in something like what I would find in a hostel. I wanted a warm Parisian apartment feel instead of a hotel. Next time, I'll get a hotel.

Samantha (the owner) is very, very nice and there is a lot of helpful information of where to eat, what to see, how to get around, etc. in the books that other visitors have left. Maybe it's just that we had our expectations set too high. We had a great time in Paris, but we didn't spend much time in the apartment due to the fact that it just wasn't comfortable. We had hoped to be able to grab some good wine, cheese, and bread and sit together in the apartment after a long day, but there really isn't any room to be able to do that and absolutely no ambiance.

Can only recommend this for 2 adults that are just using the apartment for the great location and to crash at night to sleep. Sorry...

Owner's Response: Thank you to my lovely guests who reminded me to reply to this review. This group of adults were last minute travellers looking for a budget deal who had never travelled. The lady in charge of the group had an extremely rude disposition. There was tension within the group and I believe they were not ready to travel and would have been better staying at home. I had explicitly outlined the set-up and they were delighted to accept so they could spend their money elsewhere. The building is situated in the golden triangle of real estate in Paris and in an extremely expensive location. It is very chic and safe area. The apartment is a beautiful apartment, large for Paris (43m2) and has a separate bedroom, separate lounge and great for families or couples wanting to stay long or short term in the HEART of Paris with THE best location on a budget. The apartment has a cozy lounge with television so you can put your feet up at night with a glass of wine and cheese or perhaps cook a gastronomic meal for two or the family. - The guests did not find the switch to the lights in the stairs. There is one on each floor! - The lift fits three people as is indicated inside the lift. It has been recently renovated owing to new strict European law and all the obligatory extra security measures have now been added. The lift is working perfectly and has also had an aesthetic modern uplift! Of course lifts in Paris are rare and never large as they fit into the middle of 14th - 17th century beautiful staircases. - The king-size bed is very comfortable and our guests love a good night’s sleep. It is situated in the separate bedroom. - The two comfortable mattresses are used primarily for children although many adults have had a super night’s sleep too. We have had hundreds of families sleeping in the apartment, many back for a second or third time. - The bathroom is a good size for Paris, well light, bright and has a powerful shower. - The kitchen is also a really good size for cooking, well equipped for you to enjoy home cooking if desired.

Magical Paris

  • 5 of 5

We found this to be a lovely, clean apartment located and advertised as shown on the website. Sam was quick to answer E-Mails and had someone to greet us at the apartment when we arrived by train from London. There was a small mixup in our arrival time, but our greeter was there in a few minutes. She talked to us on the phone before we left the USA and that was very comforting. The apartment had everything that was stated and more, loved the pink toilet paper!. The free phone call to the USA was special and needed as there was a problem back home that we were able to deal with, thank you Samantha! The transportation system was steps away that took us all over the city to see the sights. Do you map planning before you come to Paris, so all you have to do is jump on the metro and in minutes you are at the Arc de Triomphe and Eiffel tower and other sights! Nice big bed and great smelling lavender liquid soap in the bathroom she supplied and that I was able to buy some for me at the Monoprix store around the corner! (brought some back to the USA). Paris is expensive but less than London, but there are many places to eat at a reasonable price. Hard Rock cafe is down the street, but I came to eat French cooking! The best buttery croissants ever! Thank you Samantha, hope to return to your apartment and experience more of Paris!
