Are you looking for a quiet hide-away in the deep woods of northern Michigan? A place where the two of you can just relax and get re-acquainted? The 'Tree House' is a unique, studio apartment that has what it takes for a great, couples, vacation. It has everything you need to enjoy life for awhile: King-Sized, Temper-Pedic style, memory foam, bed; cozy living room and kitchenette; shower; toilet; 32' high definition TV + DirecTV with all the movie channels; air conditioning; and a large deck in the tree canopy.
You are just minutes away from all that Michigan's 'Little Finger' (Leelanau County) has to offer. Close to swimming beaches, wine tasting, gambling, shopping, boating, and state parks. The Tree House is located five miles north of Northport, in 42 acres of cool, quiet, mature, Beech-Maple forest. Your own paradise... Hike miles of nature trails and watch the whitetail deer as they graze; or just relax and read a book, on your deck, while the leaves whisper to you.
Leelanau peninsula is a cyclists paradise, too! A destination for both bicyclists and motorcyclists alike! Also, near by, are beautiful inland lakes to canoe or kayak. Loons, eagles, otters, and other wildlife are waiting your viewing pleasure. Bring all the 'toys' up north and have a good time!
Sit on the beach, at the lighthouse, and watch a summer sunset over Lake Michigan. Go wine tasting at one of Leelanau's many wineries. Swim in Lake Michigan's cool waters at Christmas Cove. Nature at its finest in Michigan's Water Wonderland. A 'pick me up' for your soul. Ahhh... peace and tranquility.

About Tom or Kathy Larkin
Tom & Kathy are retired from careers in high school teaching and school social work in 2005. We now enjoy Bend, Oregon and Ruidoso, New Mexico, in the winter; and Northport, Michigan, in the summer. It is our pleasure to share our 'little piece of, Leelanau County, heaven', with our guests. When you stay at the Tree House you are family, too!
Tom or Kathy Larkin purchased this studio in 1990
Why Tom or Kathy Larkin chose Northport
Even though Tom was born and raised in Michigan, we first came to Northport when Tom's brother-in-law became the pastor of the Northport Trinity Church. This was in the early 1970's. Then Tom's parents bought the Captain's Cottage, in Northport, and his sister built a cottage in Omena. We were last, in the family, to build a home 'up north' (1995). We've been enjoying our forest home ever since.
What makes this studio unique
This unique area of the Leelanau Peninsula is one of the most beautiful places we have ever lived. We have 42 acres of mature hardwood forest to roam, and we adjoin hundreds of acres of state land to our west. Very private. We are located close to many outdoor activities (hiking, biking, swimming, boating, scenery, etc.) Also, there are numerous shops, wineries, casinos, and indoor activities between Northport and Traverse City. What a great place to just 'unwind'.
Guestbook comments from the owner
(Unedited from our guest book)
Tom & Kathy,
Already so many good things have been said about the fantastic Tree House, the area, the food, etc. (in your guest book). To add just a little more, we loved the apartment; the freedom that comes with coming and going without having to disturb anyone. Your property is beautiful and perfectly maintained. You both are so kind and friendly, to the point that it is a little disappointing to leave. I really don't think we could have asked for a better place, or time, to vacation. We thank you for more than we can possibly express.
