SMALL DELIGHTFUL COTTAGE IN SECLUDED HAMLET OF CHABRENAS

Meuzac Cottage Rental Photos and Description

1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, sleeps 2/3

Discover this wonderful unspoilt area of France from the comfort of this delightful little cottage. La Petite Chabrenas is situated in a small hamlet surrounded by woods and meadows and is found ‘down the end of the lane’, providing a tranquil base from which to explore. Relaxing drives take you along lazy rivers to chateaux, picturesque market towns, lakes with swimming beaches or the ancient Cities of Limoges and Brive, as well as the Vezere, Lot and Dordogne valleys. This pretty little self contained cottage and garden allow you to experience the quiet and peaceful setting of Chabrenas. A perfect base for a holiday in France.

Exploring the Countryside: There are local swimming lakes at Meuzac, St Germain les Belles and St. Yrieix la Perche with beaches and small restaurants/snack bars. Short walks can be taken within the bounds of the property and there are plenty of longer signposted walks or cycle rides around the locality. The Vezere, Lot and Dordogne valleys are all within easy travelling distance with their stunning views and pretty villages including Rocamadour, Collonge La Rouge, Cirq Lapopie and many others

Culture / Places of Interest : Chabrenas is close to the cultural areas of Limoges (30 km) and Brive (50 km) both of which have cathedrals, many shops, museums, theatres and plenty of local history. Many summer festivals, classical concerts are held in local towns in July and August. Horse racing is held every Wednesday and some weekends during July/August/September in Arnac Pompadour. There are many chateaux to visit including our local Coussac Bonneval (8 km) also La Grenerie, Hautefort, Arnac Pompadour, Jummillac le Grand and a bit futher afield Turenne, Castlenau & Montal. Lubersac, Arnac Pompadour and St Yrieix are market towns on the route of “Richard the Lionheart”, all within 10/15 minutes drive and all have shops, supermarkets, bars and restaurants. Oradour sur Glane is also just northwest of Limoges and this village was the scene of a 2nd World War massacre by the Nazis. Spectacular caves can be seen at Grotte de Roc, Goffre de Padirac and the cave paintings of Grotte de Lascaux.

A TREEMENDOUS STAY!

  • 5 of 5
What an absolute delight! Jenny and David most accommodating, friendly and humorous. The location is quiet, the cottage superb and the weather forecast stuck to the window each morning was a great help! The Limousin area reminded us of our home county of Derbyshire and the way of life is idyllic. Reminded us of how England used to be and - quite frankly - how it still should be!
Got to go again soon! And no the spelling in the title is not a mistake - its intentional! Jenny and David will explain when you arrive! Please go, you won't be disappointed!

A WALKERS DELIGHT

  • 5 of 5
This is my forth visit to Le Petite Chabrenas and congratulations to David & Jenny for maintaining such high standards both in the cottage with its well equipped kitchen and bathroom and in the attached and private garden where you can relax on a sunny day either in the sun loungers or under the sun shade enjoying a meal or a drink. This is a real gem in a most beautiful and quiet part of France and I can highly recommend a stay. Others have commented on the local villages, towns, restaurants and swimming in the lakes'. For me Petite Chabrenas represents peace and quiet plus magnificent walks enjoyed in particular by Hettie our black Labrador. What you see in the photos is what you get plus more and we hope to return once again next year. Thank you David & Jenny. John, Barbara & Hettie.

ABSOLUTELY PERFECT!

  • 5 of 5
An idyllic place to stay. We chose Petite Chabrenas because we were so taken with the location and the photographs of the cottage. Little did we know just how perfect it was. The cottage wants for nothing, there is every kitchen accessory you could want and all the crockery, bedding and furnishings are first class. Jenny and David are a lovely couple who were always there if we needed them and who obviously take pride in all that they do. We can't wait to go back and visit and would recommend Jenny and David's properties without hesitation.

SUPERB COTTAGE IDEAL FOR COUPLES WANTING TO RELAX.

  • 5 of 5
We booked this cottage to start a search to buy a french property ourselves . The location and surrounding area is beautiful. Jenny and David could not have been more helpful. What they have achieved to accommodate holiday guests is perfect, a very high standard of cleanliness, the little touches like the bookmarks were thoughtful. Although we were on a bit of a mission, we felt relaxed and enjoyed our stay, weather was not bad and we did see some sunny days. I wish Jenny and David continued success in the future as they have a little piece of tranquility in the Limousin.

A PERFECT, QUAINT WEEKEND AWAY.

  • 5 of 5
My partner and I needed a well earned long weekend away and we were recommended to check out chabrenas.
It didn't disappoint in any way.
We knew that the weather was unfortunately due to give us a frosty reception on arrival but thankfully, David and Jenny had the log burning fire popping away, keeping the gorgeous cottage beautifully cosy.
The fantastic hosts thought of everything, knew everything and would do anything to make you as comfortable as possible.
We had hired a car to explore the many incredible things surrounded the area. Mainly on David's recommendations.
I would urge anyone in the area to visit Oradour Sur Glane near Limoges. An unbelievable preserved village from the WWII massacres.
But you don't have to look or travel far to find beautiful scenery. Extensive literature with countless local walks and places of interest mean that if you wished to leave the stunning confines of the cottage you will not be without inspiration.

All in all a perfect long weekend with the perfect hosts.

We will be back x

WONDERFUL

  • 5 of 5
Absolutely perfect. My partner and I Just got back from two weeks in Petite Chabrenas and that is the only way to describe it. The location is excellent, down a tiny country lane into a haven of peace. The only sounds are the crickets and the odd cow mooing in the background. The cottage has a wonderful garden with a great mix of shady spots under the trees and big areas to sunbathe. Inside the cottage is spacious and has every amenity you could ever need whilst on holiday. The build quality is top of the range with authentic old oak beams giving a feeling of comfort and luxury. So lovely is the setting that we didn’t do that many trips out, preferring to lounge in the garden all day and evening then chat around the cosy kitchen table at night. There is however loads to see in the local area. Dave and Jenny are very knowledgeable of the local area and they can tell you everything there is to see in the locality. I would recommend Brive as a lovely, quiet medieval city and we went to the Dordogne, about an hour away with its breathtaking villages and lovely river. I’d also recommend just taking a drive and getting lost for a while in the local country lanes where you will come across numerous pretty villages with various unique aspects such as Chateau’s, views and much more. Dave and Jenny are excellent hosts. They have been running this for ten years and are expert at allowing you complete peace whilst always being on hand for useful local knowledge if you want it. Really has been the best holiday in years and we are now feeling completely refreshed from having such a relaxing, chilled holiday in a beautiful setting.

It is ideally situated close to the main A20 Autoroute (10 Mins) if you wish to travel quickly to the attractions of the area. However, if you prefer you can take gentle drives down country lanes and wend your way to visit local chateaux, such as Coussac Bonneval, still inhabited by the Marquis de Bonneval, or follow the route of ‘Richard the Lionheart’. Stop and sample food and wine in some of the prettiest villages in France such as Segur-le-Chateau, Montemart, St Robert, Collonges-la-Rouge and Turenne, or relax by one of the many swimming lakes in the area. Wend a little further and visit the unique sights of Sarlat-la-Caneda, Rocamadour or Cirq Lapopie, a few of the picturesque villages that make up the Dordogne and Lot Valleys.
