Sleep up to 14 in this 4 storey house and garden flat which enjoys uninterrupted views across the Winter gardens and sea. These can also be enjoyed from the first floor balconies from the master bedroom.

The house has been carefully restored and features wood panelling, working fireplaces and a new bath. The secluded garden is perfect for enjoying morning coffee or an evening drink. Only steps away from the beach, five minutes walk to the new cafes by the harbour and ten minutes from the High Street, this is the perfect base for your exploration of Thanet, and a welcoming property to come home to.

The modern fully equipped kitchen makes life easy and the property also has TV and video / DVD.

The separate garden flat has its own entrance and can also be accessed via the garden steps. It has one bedroom, bathroom, kitchen and living room with sofa bed.

Rent the whole building for 14 people, just the flat (up to 4) or just the house for up to 10.

4 bedroom Georgian merchant's house overlooking winter gardens and sea with private courtyard garden and easy access to shops and restaurants. Following a negative review in 2010 the property has been completely redecorated and the bath replaced. Windows have been refurbished and beds replaced. We are confident that you will now be happy with what you find here and able to use this convenient base for your holiday. Especially suitable for families with children as the garden is enclosed, the beach is nearby and the nearest supermarket a 3 minute walk. Further along the beach there are traditional amusements in one direction and mini golf / bowling in the other. In the house there is a washing machine, dishwasher, freezer and microwave to make your stay easy and games / books / CDs in case you feel like staying in. And if there are more of you this time, why not rent the garden flat as well - an extra bathroom and kitchen plus sleeping for up to 4 more guests. Room for all!

You are bound to find things that interest you in this area. For history buffs, this is the town where sea bathing was invented, home of the legendary underground Shell Grotto and one of the Cinque Ports.

For artier types, the town described by Turner as having the best skies in Europe may inspire you - or visit one of the many galleries in the area.

For families there are miles of sandy beaches and safe cycling and walking, as well as Dreamland, bowling, crazy golf, wildlife parks and visitor attractions.

Shoppers will enjoy the lovely new Westwood Cross shopping centre nearby, or the designer outlets in Ashford. There are now some great restaurants, bars and coffee shops to unwind in, all within walking distance of the house. In the evenings you may also enjoy a show at the Winter Gardens or Margate Theatre, a film at Dreamland cinema or a visit to a nightclub. Most for all enjoy breathing all that fine fresh air and the open views from the house.

Jolly Boys Outing

My friends and I enjoyed a weekend in Margate. The property was great value with plenty of space for everyone and right next to the sea front and also the main centre of Margate.

Margate itself is a great place to visit with plenty to do and lots of unusual character. I would highly recommend the Ambrette restaurant and the Mad Hatter's Tea Room amongst the many thing to do in the town.

Highly recommended.

This house is in a poor state! The property was shabby and dirty. There was no welcome basket, there are no blinds in the bathrooms and no oven gloves. The house smells of cigarettes. The decor is tired looking and is in need of updating. The garden is small and full of rubbish. The balcony is not usable. The house is noisy. All in all not a good experience and not worth the money!
Owner's Response: Oh dear, I'm sorry to hear this group was so disappointed - not the usual reaction from our guests at all.

Feedback is always useful for us to find ways to improve. And there are some points here which we needed to fix eg previous guests had removed oven gloves and we hadn't noticed. We have also served notice on the tenant in the basement flat who is the source of the cigarette smell and we have removed the bag of rubbish from the garden shed.

I'm not sure why these guests found the balcony unusable as they didn't mention it to us personally, but it seems to be the same as normal to us.

Other observations they make are more about personal preference. This is a Regency house so it is not built to modern standards of sound insulation. One guest described it as vintage chic. If you are looking for something more modern then we don't recommend you come to us. But if you like the charm of 150 years of history then we don't think you will be disappointed by our authentic Regency paint colours.

The Water Tower was incredible! The place is amazing and watching each girl's face as they were shown around was fantastic. Within 5 minutes each of us were trying to work out when we can come back. Thank you also for the welcome pack - that came in very handy!

A great weekend in a lovely house in Margate

I rented the house to throw a murder mystery event for my birthday. It was perfect. It slept 8 people quite comfortably and was in a lovely location just opposite the beach and around the corner from the Costcutters that doesn't close until 2am, even on a Sunday! Chris, the housekeeper was really friendly and helpful and I had complete peace of mind that I could call at any time, should there be any problems. However, the weekend went smoothly and the house provided everything we needed. The house was spotlessly clean on arrival, which was also a bonus.
Recommended for:  Girls Getaway, Tourists without a Car, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children

A fun family holiday

The listing was very accurate and the owner was very fast, friendly and totally uncomplicated. THANK YOU - it made the booking a real pleasure. Ideal house for 2 families to get together for a holiday. The house is very well equipped with everything you need from bottle openers to books and games. Nice garden. House was easy to find and it was also easy to park outside or round the back. We had a friendly welcome and we fell in love with Margate - slightly run-down but full of atmosphere. Fish and chips in abundance! Loads to do in and around the area - the very sandy beach was good for the kids as was shallow quite a way out, plus there was a lifeguard. The loos at the beach were clean and in working order. We recommend the theatre literally 10 meters over the road for a nostalgic trip to the past with it's red and gold deco. Enough shops nearby to for everything you need. Canterbury is easily reachable for a day trip. 25 mins from Dover if you're coming or going by ferry. We had an absolute blast. Turner project in progress which we hope will boost the art scene when it's ready. We highly recommend this property. Thumbs up!
