Activities:
The nearest ski area is La Flegere, which links into Le Brevent slopes offering numerous pistes for all abilities, and unlimited off-piste skiing. The free ski bus, and mountain train, also leave from here, giving guests easy access to the other ski areas within a 10 kilometre radius. Cross-country skiers can join the tracks right outside the chalet, with more than 20 kilometres of forest trails, of all grades and lengths, to suit all levels. In summer Chamonix's top class golf course is just a short walk away. Mountain biking and walking trails start at the door. There is a fishing lake just around the corner.
For evening dining, there are two excellent restaurants within a few minutes walk, as well as the shops and bars of Les Praz. It is a nice, easy walk into Chamonix town centre.
Ski:
The Chamonix Valley is a mecca for skiers. It boasts 5 separate ski areas, plus the Vallee Blanche, the world-renowned 24 kilometre off-piste descent. Each ski area is linked by free ski bus. Le Tour, at the very end of the valley is ideal for beginners and intermediates. It also offers some impressive back country itineraries into Switzerland. The Grand Montets, in Argentiere, rises to 3300 metres and is a big draw for off-piste skiers, but also has a good selection of blue and red pistes. La Flegere and Le Brevent are linked by piste and cable car, and are the nearest to the chalet. Les Houches, 10 minutes south of Chamonix, is a nice family resort with good skiing below the tree-line, ideal on snowy days. The Chamski pass covers all ski areas except Les Houches.
The Italian resort of Courmayeur is a 15-minute drive through the Mont Blanc tunnel. Within one hour’s drive of the chalet are the world-renowned resorts of Verbier, Megeve, Avoriaz and Flaine.
Golf:
The 18-hole, par 72, golf course in Chamonix Mont Blanc was designed by Robert Trent Jones senior and nestles between the Mont Blanc Range and the Massif of the Aiguilles Rouges providing for stunning views. With more than six kilometres of fairways it is playable from May to November. Green fees start at 34 Euros, rising to 70 Euros in August. However discounts are available for multiple rounds.
There are more than a dozen other mountain and lakeside golf courses within a 90 minute drive, including Megeve, Evian, Divonne, Crans-Montana, Verbier and Aix-les-Bains.
