About Jan

Macgregor and Jan have been married for thirty-five years and have lived at Black Butte Ranch since 2004. With the arrival of our two granddaughters, we have enjoyed introducing the next generation to the joys and wonders of BBR. Over the years we have rented numerous vacation homes before purchasing GM 61. We have a good idea of what guests appreciate and have slept on our share of sagging beds, seen every variation on 70's decor from orange formica to dizzying diagonal paneling and upholstery you'd rather not see or touch! We believe in offering our guests quality furnishings, comfortable hotel quality beds with down comforters and cotton blankets, china without chips, sharp knives, organized cabinets, closets and drawers. Keeping GM 61 in top condition is one of our hobbies and we enjoy sharing it with friends and family.

Jan purchased this house in 2002

Why Jan chose Black Butte Ranch

Four generations of our family have vacationed at Black Butte Ranch for over thirty years. In 2002, only the two of us could make it. We had no intentions of buying a vacation home but, when we saw Glaze Meadow 61, it was love at first sight! GM 61 is a lovely well-maintained home on a large forested lot with abundant wildlife, ample sun and shade, in a quiet neighborhood. A five minute walk on the bike path and you're at Glaze Center, walk or bike five minutes in the other direction and you're at Glaze Meadow with Lupines and two lakes. We love sharing our home with friends and family, making memories for a lifetime. We welcome new and returning guests who share our love of Black Butte Ranch.

What makes this house unique

Comfortable attractive home on a lovely forested lot, quiet street. This home is loaded with lots of thoughtful extras, beautiful quilts hanging on the walls and beds, book, music and video libraries and a good selection of family games. The attractive Fiestaware china, rice cooker, Cuisinart, panini grill, nostalgic milk shake machine, juicer, assortment of cook books, something for every chef! This well-maintained home is organized and squared-around. Reading by the fireside in spring, fall and winter is among life's finest. The great outdoors... speaks for itself!

Guestbook comments from the owner

A great well located home for vacation!

  • 5 of 5

This was our third stay at this beautiful home. The furnishings, the amenities, and the overall environment was well beyond our expectations! The immaculately clean home was well stocked with everything one could possibly need. Mac and Jan provided us with a wealth of information of places to visit and explore in the area. Our children came home each day exhausted from all the experiences and activities. They could easily ride their bikes around the bike paths. The swimming pools were a highlight after a long day of hiking and exploring. Being able to barbecue our own food and relax on the beautiful deck was a great way to end the evenings. We would highly recommend this house to anyone for a very memorable vacation!

August 2013

  • 5 of 5

Thanks Jan and Mac for making us feel at home at GM61. The home was spotless, beautifully maintained, and generously furnished. Our two weeks in August flew by so quickly with so many wonderful activities available in the area for adults and children. We have already discussed the possibility of making this an annual event!

Owner's Response: Thank you! We hope GM 61 will continue to be your home away from home at Black Butte Ranch! A two week stay allows you to explore places such as Suttle Lake, Camp Sherman, Wizard Falls Fish Hatchery, Clear Lake, Sahallie Falls, bicycling up McKenzie Pass, Green Ridge or hiking the many trails from Smith Rocks to climbing one of the three Sisters! White water rafting is a favorite, too! Come back for a month in the off season and live like a local! Thanks again, we look forward to your return! - Mac & Jan

Wonderful family memories made here!

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed in GM61 six times in the past 3 years. Each time we arrive, we walk in the door and feel instant relaxation. The home is always extremely clean, it has the most well stocked kitchen of any home I've ever rented, the beds are all comfortable with nice linens, the towels are plush, etc... The location of this home is another fantastic feature. It is less than a 5 min walk (even with kids) to the Glaze Meadow pool complex and tennis courts and it is on a quiet street which allows our kids to ride their bikes and scooters without us worrying they will be hurt. There are two large decks, though, that offer parents a great viewing area of the kids. We have stayed in this home during all seasons. Each visit brings something new to do at BBR or the surrounding areas. Mac and Jan have a wealth of knowledge of things to do in the surrounding area and are very helpful if you need anything during your stay. We are already looking forward to our next visit!

We Love It Here!

  • 5 of 5

This was our seventh here. Mac and Jan pay attention to every detail in their immaculately, well-maintained home and are right there to respond when a question arises. There are plenty of games, movies, and books to entertain the whole family. The house is conveniently located just a few minutes by foot from the Glaze Meadow Rec Center. We look forward to returning again and again.

Great Vacation

  • 5 of 5

Thank you for a great week at your home. The house was perfect: beautiful, comfortable, cozy and well organized. The quilts are beautiful. We enjoyed the library with great authors like Ambrose, Muir, Steinbeck and Grisham. What a perfect location....getting fresh air, bike riding, walking, enjoying nature and visiting the Glaze Meadow Center. We look forward to coming back. Thank you so much.
