About Steve Beckerdite

Steve and Debbie both are pharmacists. Steve was brought up in Ft. Smith, AR and Debbie is from Monroe, LA. Both now live in Fayetteville, AR which is about 45 minutes from the lake house. Because we live so close we are very attentive to the house. We love outdoor activities and family life. Our grandson who is 7 really enjoys the lake house.

Steve Beckerdite purchased this house in 2001

Why Steve Beckerdite chose Garfield

After spending many vacations on Beaver Lake we decided to buy this house in 2001 as a weekend get-away and as a vacation rental unit. We looked at many houses in Lost Bridge Village subdivision before we bought. What sold us on this house was the quality. We did not see houses with cedar wood and real Ozark stone as this one does. The construction is very well done by one of the best contractors in our area and you can feel it throughout the house.

The walk to the water from the house is very gentle. Even the elderly can usually handle it. We have a fish cleaning table at the water's edge. There is a charcoal grill and we have decided that the real charcoal rather than propane makes the food taste much better. There is always something to entertain you on Beaver. Walking, biking, swimming, boating, fishing, water sports, sailing, relaxing, relaxing, relaxing, etc.

What makes this house unique

Because our house has Ozark stone fireplaces, you can use it year round. The house has modern amenities; yet, it has a wonderful 'cabin' feel to it. The cedar accents throughout add a warm, cozy feeling to the rooms. There is plenty of glass to take advantage of the views from all sides. Even the living room has a sky light. Beautiful mountain lake with crystal clear waters for whatever your boating/fishing/swimming/sailing activities. This north end of Beaver Lake is the clearest part. The scuba diving club meets on this end because of that. Beaver is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful lakes we've ever seen. The water stays so deep blue and clear. Whitney Mt makes the cliff views just awesome for picture taking. Make sure you tour Whitney Mt Chapel and the grounds at the top where the club house is. If you are looking for a site for a wedding you can't go wrong here year round! Our house has been used many times for a base house of stay for weddings and reunions. Be on the lookout for wildlife because there are lots. The openness of this house makes it very relaxing. We love eating on the deck because of the lake view. As soon as we hit the deck, we feel the stress just melt away! Just love it!

Fantastic Place

  • 4 of 5

While the weather was not cooperative at all this trip, the property was absolutely fantastic. The property's dual atmosphere of serving excellently as both summer lake house and fall/winter cozy retreat actually made our groups enthusiasm survive the storms that blew through and locked us inside. Only downside was a storm possibly knocked out the hot tub.

Great weekend getaway

  • 4 of 5

A spectacular place for our budget. I believe it's owner-managed and one of a few properties in the area that is. They were flexible in accommodating our 2-night stay when BLVR wouldn't. Wish we could have spent more time there. Beautiful area. Very quiet weekend at the lake.

Great place for the family!

  • 5 of 5

This house was perfect for our family! There was plenty of room, it was well equipped and close to things that we wanted to do. We enjoyed the neighborhood pool and went to a nearby sand beach. Eureka Springs was close enough that we went there for a morning of shopping. The house was great, my only caution is that as you can tell from the picture, there are open stairways. Being a new grandmother, I didn't think of that when I booked it. We bought baby gates, but my husband also made barracks to keep our 13 month old from going between the railings. Even with that, we would go there again!

Great Place

  • 4 of 5

We had a party of 8 people staying at the lake house.

Pro's -There were plenty of places to sleep for the eight of us and very spacious. The pictures on the web were acurate. It was very clean. The upper deck was new. Everything functioned properly. The kitchen was well equipt.

Con's - Parking was a little issue. We had a boat and the drive is very steep. There was no boat dock but new that when we rented the place. There was some tree's to tight the boat up to, but could not pull it up to the bank because it was rocky. The view of the lake was obscured by the trees. The bedrooms were open except for one.

Overall I liked the place a lot and would rent it again.

Never sure what to expect, even after several times using VRBO. But we definitely were NOT dissapointed in this home. Very open and comfortable. Allowed us, along with our friends, to spread out and really enjoy the surroundings. Had a great time.

If there is any knock on this, the driveway was the only challenge...VERY steep. If you aren't used to it, it's tricky.

Overall...we'd come back. Great location on the water, and convenient to the marina.

We had a WONDERFUL time. The view was spectacular and the lake was right behind the house. The house was very spacious and just beautiful!!! Deer were everywhere...all you had to do was look out one of the MANY windows!!! It was a short and very scenic drive to Eureka Springs. We were there for a week and HATED TO LEAVE!!!!

Thanks for a FANTASTIC vacation!!!!
