Overview

Tivoli House Rental Photos and Description

Kitchenette, living room, 2 bedrooms, Zwischengesch, 1 bathroom, terrace

It is on the second and top floor of an ancient palace in the characteristic Via del Riserraglio, and thus one of the oldest neighborhoods of Tivoli. Here was located in ancient Rome, the Forum, in the Middle Ages flourished crafts, and the artists of the Qatari settled here.

The apartment has been restored with great care and furnished with great attention to detail, so you can still breathe the one hand, medieval atmosphere, but not sacrificing modern day comforts.

Let the high ceiling with its clay tiles and wooden beams and dark parquet enchant. The wooden furniture, candlesticks, lanterns and torches made of wrought iron and copper are masterpieces of craftsmanship and the doors we manufacture according to old models and leave with iron bars. Reproductions of medieval tapestries adorn the walls.

Tivoli offers far more than its main attractions, the UNESCO Weltkulturellbestätten Villa D'Este and Hadrian's Villa. Stroll through the wild romantic gorge of the villa Gregoraina with its impressive waterfalls, explore many other testimonies of the Roman era (Temple of Vesta and Sibyl, amphitheater, Santuario di Ercole Vinci gates, ...), or obtained through the tower houses, The castle 'Rocca Pia' and the mountain villages in the region back into the Middle Ages.

Tivoli is easily accessible due to its proximity to Rome.

By car:

A24 motorway.

By plane:

From Fiumicino Airport with the train shuttle to Roma Tiburtina train station, then train directly to Tivoli.

From Ciampino airport by shuttle bus to the Roma Termini train station, then by metro to Roma Tiburtini train station, then by train.

By train:

From Roma Tiburtina Rome-Pescara.

By bus:

From the metro station Rome Ponte Mammolo (Cotral).

Who has the good fortune to dwell in Tivoli, it should not be missed (except Rome in only 25 km) to explore other pearls of Lazio in the immediate vicinity of Tivoli. The landscape is dotted with charming towns, impressive monasteries and medieval sunken dream Borghi (small towns or villages) in the midst of nature, ideal to take unforgettable day trips and also totally enjoy authentic local cuisine.

5 Star!!! Staying Here Again

  • 5 of 5

Alessandra is wonderful. She met us at Tivoli train and drove us to the apartment. The apartment itself is so, so nice. The building the apartment is in is very picturesque, and just around the corner from the Cathedral (Duomo). The area is away from the touristy bit of tivoli, and is so nice and relaxed.

Plenty of room, there was only the two of us in the large queen? size bed. There was also separate room with two single beds, and there was room for more in the loft.

Everything you needed was in the kitchen. The living room was nice too, very relaxing.

There were two extra special features to this apartment:

1) Alessandra! She sat down with us, and showed us on a map where all the sights were, and where to go for food. It was like a bible for us. She was awesome, very welcoming, and drove us back to the station :)

2) The view from the roof terrace! My GOD! On the one side you are looking up the hill at the row of pretty houses. On the other, the valley behind you, with Rome in the distance.

Awesome place, great host and we are booked to go back here in September 2015!

Wonderful apartment in Medieval Tivoli

  • 5 of 5

Our family of six enjoyed this lovely clean apartment. Tivoli has many great sites and provides a good base for exploring the surrounding area and Rome. Alessandro was very friendly and helpful. Loved Tivoli! Thank you Allessandro!

Spacious and comfortable

  • 5 of 5

The owner, Allesandra, is an excellent host and offers a lovely apartment in Tivoli. The three of us thoroughly enjoyed our time there and she was very helpful with our transportation needs. I highly recommend this apartment, it was as advertised and she made our first stop in Italy a memorable experience.

TIVOLI APARTMENT

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed in many apartments in Italy over the years to avoid having to eat out every night as this is becoming more and more expensive. This apartment was right up with the best we have seen. It was spotlessly clean and the rooms were spacious and beautifully furnished. The roof top terrace with its beautiful views is a real bonus - especialy if you happen to be a sun worshipper ! The only caution I would give is that you need to be reasonably healthy to manage the stairs.

It has to be said however, that the best aspect of this apartment is Alessandra. She was the perfect hostess. Her attitude to us was that nothing was a problem. She picked us up at the station on arrival and (despite the early time) took us to the station on departure. She speaks excellent English, and gave us lots of information on how to make the most of our time in Tivoli.

Tivoli has been on my wish list of places to visit for a number of years and it lived up to my expectations, with its ancient meandering streets and its stunning gardens. The Cathedral is only 200 yards from the apartment and is well worth a visit. There are frequent trains to Rome, although I would recommend advance planning for travel - there is only 1 automated ticket machine at the station and it was out of order for the duration of our stay. You can buy a BIRG ticket for 8 euros which covers your return journey to Rome and unlimited public transport including Metro in Rome for 24 hours.

In summary I would have no hesitation in recommending this apartment for use by one or two couples, or a family.

A Wonderful Visit to Tivoli

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved this house in Tivoli! Alessandra met us, helped us into the apartment and got us settled in. She told us everything we needed to know about how to get around to all the sights we wanted to see and which restaurants were the best. She was extremely warm and hospitable. One night we locked ourselves out of the apartment and Alessandra came to the rescue with another key.

The house itself is spacious, clean and beautifully furnished. The bathroom is very large with a large shower and two sinks. The kitchen is equipped to easily prepare your own meals if you choose to. We truly had everything we needed to make our stay a comfortable one. Tivoli is a beautiful little town and we would definitely visit again and stay in Alessandra's apartment.

A Holiday For The Soul

  • 5 of 5

The apartment was stunning, decorated in medieval style, but with everything you could need for a comfortable stay. Admittedly, you have to walk up four floors of an old Tivolian building but it is worth every step. The views were wonderful and at night there was a little tinkling fountain in the square below. The Church bells are beautiful too.

Alessandra and Diego would not let us walk the ten minutes from the station to the apartment, but insisted on giving us a lift. They were both charming people, showed us the ropes and pointed out literature in the apartment to help us make the most of our stay, and then left us to ourselves.

There are supermarkets, bakeries and the town itself within a few minutes walk through old cobbled streets, with lots to explore and enjoy. There are cafes and restaurants of every kind, ranging from the cheap and cheerful to sophisticated and expensive.

We visited Villa d'Este and it did not disappoint. The house was amazing but the gardens and the fountains were magnificent. We spent the best part of a day there - and it is within walking distance of the apartment. We also visited Villa Gregoriana, which is just as amazing but quite different. Ruins are all that remain of the villa, but you walk into a valley and up the other side (2 hours ambling comfortably in sensible shoes - not sandals!), seeing waterfalls and beautiful views from different angles. Villa Gregoriana is also walking distance, so you really don't need to hire a car.

Tivoli is only an hour away from Rome by train. We had visited Rome before so we chose to spend our week just exploring Tivoli. Some days we just walked, and it is surprising how time slows down and you just soak up the atmosphere of the beautiful town, which was built before Rome.

We would recommend this characterful apartment to any able bodied person and believe that nobody would go home without being touched by the timeless beauty of Tivoli.
