Willingen is 'nordic-active-centre' of the german skiing association. 30miles (49km) of cross country trails of all difficulty levels - if it 12 miles (20km) on elevation of 2500ft (750m) - allow good cross-country skiing terms. Jochen Behle, the German cross-country legend and coach of the national team is resident in Willingen. EWF-Biatlon-Arena with 2km floodlight-trail with snowmaschines (Olympic Training-Center Sauerland).

A large number of cleared winter footpaths, slide carriage rides and the rink also prepare guests without skis beautiful winter days.

The absolute highlight is the yearly FIS ski-jumping World Cup on the Mühlenkopf ski-jump - the largest ski-jump in the world! 35.000 fans make the event a big party!

Willingen is also internationally known on the mountainbikers scene. Every year in June, the biggest German mountain bike event takes place. 250km of marked mountain bike trails of all levels; Bike Park with World Cup downhill course, freeride and four cross-sections; Who can't get enough can also make a detour to the particular for children and adolescents popular Bike Park Winterberg (18 miles; 25 km).

HIKING: Four top Sauerland trails touch Willingen: Rothaarsteig, Uplandsteig, Diemelsteig and Briloner Kammweg. The attraction of Uplandsteig is its panoramic views from the highest peaks of Sauerland. Another beautiful hiking trails lead around the Ettelsberg through the highest moorlands and the beautiful Stryck Valley and/or Hoppeke Valley.
