Why we love La Finca!:
La Finca is set among lemon, orange and almond groves and is just lovely. The golf course, designed by Pepe Gancedo, opened in 2002 and was built to host open championships. A golfing oasis, La Finca is rumoured to be the most exciting course on the Costa Blanca and some say ‘It will be up there with the very best in Spain in 2 years'. Suitable for keen golfers of all abilities, enjoy it now and miss the crowds that exist on the Costa del Sol. The fabulous clubhouse is a peaceful haven and offers great food including a lunchtime dish of the day. The 5* La Finca Golf Hotel Spa Resort opened this summer, 2009, offering a beautiful spa, restaurants and coffee shop.
The urbanisation features stylish architecture with courtyards, passages and curving streets, which have a real Spanish feel. We recommend you hire a car to enoy the area to the full but you can walk to a few bars and restaurants and an English minimarket on hand at the entrance to La Finca.
Easy access:
The house is situated less than 40 minutes drive from both Alicante and Murcia airports, both of which are served by most of the low cost airlines. It makes flying down to the Costa Blanca for a few days’ golf or relaxation an easy option. We find it easier to travel door to door, from the UK to Spain, than getting down to the West Country!
Algorfa, Quesada and Los Montesinos are the local towns offering delightful plazas, small Spanish run corner shops (great for cheap wine straight from the enormous barrels!) and local bars and restaurants.
If you are looking for night life, then Torrevieja has plenty to offer with it's casinos, clubs, restaurants and bars. There is plenty of daytime life too with much activity centred around the bustling marina with its craft market and funfair.
If cultural and historical places of interest appeal, then the towns and cities of Orihuela, Murcia, Alicante and Cartagena offer museums, art galleries, cathedrals, palaces and monasteries.
Coast:
There are just so many beautiful beaches to choose from in this part of Spain! 'Costa Blanca' means 'white coast' and the beaches certainly live up to that name. Many are awarded the coveted 'European Blue Flag' for their high standard of cleanliness. We love the way the Spanish cater for children, providing fun activities such as pyramid rope climbing frames right on the beach. We love a casual dinner at La Mirada cafe on La Zenia beach as we can enjoy the sound of the sea and the view, as the children amuse themselves with the bustle of the beach and the challenge of the rope climbing frame! More locally, Guardamar and La Marina are recommended beaches.
The World Health Authority Organisation has rated the area as one of the healthiest places in the world to live! The climate is gorgeous - over 320 day’s sunshine a year and the local salt lakes have natural health giving properties. The switched on locals indulge themselves in free mud baths!
