Perfect Swiss Chalet Experience

  • 5 of 5

Just returned from two weeks in the Berner Oberland, having the luxury of staying in this unit for two full weeks. It was ideal for several reasons: 1) the chalet is beautiful, private, well-appointed, and very comfortable for relaxing and just hanging out---we were a group of four adults and two children. 2) Situation: outstanding views of the Jungfrau and waterfalls are a tremendous bonus, with outdoor lawns, patio area for barbecuing/dining, parking for three vehicles. 3) Location: Lauterbrunnen village is exactly the right size, small enough to be quaint, easy, and fun, but large enough to offer all of the essential shopping needs [restaurants, groceries, ATMs, train station, etc.] Initially, we thought Lauterbrunnen would seem a bit remote, but we were proven wrong as it's an easy 15-minutre drive to Interlaken--best purchase we made was the Jungfrau Regional Transportation Pass which allowed unlimited travel by train, bus, steamer, gondola/trams, etc. -- it may seem expensive, but the convenience of having ready access to all of the mountain locations and locale destinations far exceeds the cost...plus, you can catch the local bus at the bottom of the chalet's driveway! Kids' tickets are only 30 CHF for eight days; we took full advantage of our passes, using them every single day! The owners of this property take great pride is maintaining and keeping it clean it for guests. We had absolutely no problems nor issues with the unit, nor with owner communitication. We cannot recommend this property highly enough.

Stunning views, Convenient location

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 6 (2 adults and 4 children) stayed for one week this past summer. This is probably our 10th time renting apartments through Home Away and Chalet Chaeshubl is now our favorite.

The Chalet is charmingly decorated, spotlessly clean and fully equipped. The bedrooms are a good size and the Master Bedroom has a balcony with a spectacular view of Stubach Falls. The waterfall is lit at night and very romantic. The kitchen had everything you would need for cooking meals and there was a barbecue for grilling. The patio was a wonderful place to eat dinner, relax and enjoy the stuffing views of the valley.

The location was perfect for sightseeing throughout the Bernese Oberland area. There was plenty to do right in Lauterbrunnen with 2 of the most famous Waterfalls within walking distance. However, within 20 minutes drive or less you could reach Interlaken or the next valley - Grindelwald. We even found Guyere to be a very convenient (and pretty) hour drive away.

Alessandro was helpful and professional both through emails and once we arrived. Everything from the arrival to the departure went smoothly.

I highly recommend this apartment.

Amazing Chalet, Stunning Location

  • 5 of 5

Our stay in Lauterbrunnen was the highlight of our trip to Switzerland, and Chalet "Chaeshubl" was truly perfect. It's beautifully decorated in a modern/rustic style and has every convenience. (Not so with other self-catering apartments we rented on the trip.) No detail was overlooked, from the special matches for the fireplace to the fully-equipped kitchen -- with Raclette machine and fondue pot! My husband, parents, and I enjoyed many nights sitting around the big dining table playing cards, drinking local beer and wine, and listening to music.

There are so many activities to do nearby (Trummelbach Falls and the views from Mannelichen were some of our favorites) and we were so glad we stayed in Lauterbrunnen instead of some of the resort towns higher up like Wengen and Murren. We felt Lauterbrunnen was a perfect base for exploring the area. The valley is simply stunning and it was a joy waking up to see Staubbach Falls from the bedroom window. On the few days when the weather was rainy, we were still able to take some easy walks in the valley and just relax in the chalet. There is a TV and a lot of DVDs but we were too busy having fun to watch them!

Looking at the pictures online ahead of time, we wondered if it could really be as good as it looked. It was better. We will treasure our memories of Chaeshubl always and hope to come back some day! Thank you Alessandro & Franziska!

Lovely Home Away from Home

  • 5 of 5

Words and pictures cannot describe Alessandro and Franziska welcoming generosity and their lovely Lauterbrunnen chalet. We have stayed in many homes, inns and lodges around the world – Alessandro and Franziska’s lovely chalet ranks in the top tier.

Upon our arrival, Alessandro welcomed us at the train station. He drove us to the chalet where he and Franziska gave us a tour of their enchanting chalet. We won’t mention all the other special treatment that we received – we don’t want to set expectations too high!

The chalet’s layout, amenities and décor are all magnificent – a fully equipped gourmet kitchen, gorgeous large dinning room, lovely spacious living room with comfy furniture, cozy bedrooms with beautiful fluffy comforters, and wrap-around decks with spectacular views of the valley and all its glorious waterfalls. To top all this off, Franziska had adorned the chalet with flowers from her garden.

The chalet is very conveniently located in a quiet yet accessible neighborhood. You can hop on a bus which is a 2 minute walk from the chalet or you can take a pleasant 10 minute stroll into charming Lauterbrunnen where you can catch the train. The valley itself is incredible, with amazing scenery and plenty of activities to keep everyone entertained.

Needless to say, we highly recommend Alessandro and Franziska lovely Lauterbrunnen chalet.

The Perfect Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Earlier this month we had the great pleasure of staying in this incredible chalet. It's safe to say that from the photos we had very high expectations and were unsure if the property would live up to these. We'll it certainly did!!! From the moment we walked through the door, you couldn't wipe the smiles from our faces. This property has everything you could ask for and more. Three spacious and stunning bedrooms, a wonderful open dining area and lounge, fully equipped kitchen, washing facilities, boardgames, dvds, cds, an open fireplace (which we used on several nights and absolutely looooved!) and even a welcome hamper on arrival.

All aspects of the property are extremely well maintained and the house was very clean, with fresh flowers on the tables and pinecones at the door for an added touch.

The owners have done a tremendous job of refurbishing the property and their attention to detail is impeccable. The artwork, colour schemes and furniture chosen all suit perfectly.

We must admit, because the house was so wonderful it was hard leaving it to pursue our activities but it was always a delight to come home to. The property has a real homely feel and is the perfect escape.

It is ideal for three couples, or even a family and we suggest cooking up a feast in the huge kitchen and enjoying that with beautiful wine before retreating to the open fireplace for dessert of swiss chocolate.

You mustn't forget to enjoy breakfast on one of the two balconies overlooking the Swiss Alps and waterfalls, the views are breathtaking and you fall asleep to the sound of the flowing water at night.

Lauterbrunnen has a lot of great outdoor activities and adventures on offer, which compliment this property perfectly.

We can highly recommend this property as one of the best we have stayed in to date all hope to get back there in the not too distant future.

Lastly, the owners of the property were delightful. Extremely welcoming, informative and always on hand if we needed anything. Thank you for allowing us to stay in your beautiful house.

wonderful holiday experience

  • 5 of 5

we have just returned from a magical weeks stay in this chalet , the owners are charming and most helpful when we arrived early , the chalet is spotless ...and to die for , the views are just incredible , the chalet has everything one could want in terms of ammenities , it's location is ideal - USE Swiss travel services - they are ALWAYS on time and are totally reliable, the bus stop is 50 yds away

this chalet is the gateway to scenic marvels and if you are lucky with the weather you will spend little time at the chalet ... but if you do you will enjoy , very fast wi-fi if you HAVE to take the gadgets :-)

Go to Wengen and if you can ....walk up to Wengeralp - gruelling , painful and I nearly died .twice but the kids pulled me along - it was worth it

Go to Murren via the cable to Grutschalp - WALK from Grutschalp - its flat and easy walking and the best scenery ever , from Murren stroll down the nice path to winderwald and enjoy this amazing village and then cable down to Lauterbrunnen valley

Go to ballenburg open air museum - magical and an easy trip by bus and rail ..and come back by boat

we hired a helicopter for a special experience and got one !! - expensive but awesome and we also used Alpinraft for TRUE wild water rafting - cold spectacular and rather terrifying

we will go back to this chalet next year - we took our kids and a boyfriend ages 22 20 21 and 18 and all had the best time ever - that says it all

1 downer - the PRICES !!!!!! Switzerland is SO expensive mainly due to poor exchange rate to £ - eating out is a painful experience to the pocket - there is a great co-op in town and a good butchers and bakery - use them and eat in as we did and it makes it easier

enjoy ...
