Fornells and Fornells Bay: Fornells is a village at the mouth of the protected Fornells bay, 5 km away, with a most attractive palm tree-lined harbour, mainly used by the local fishermen. It has various souvenir and other shops and excellent restaurants, most of which face onto the harbour or the bay. The king of Spain has been known to visit, sometimes eating at the waterfront Es Pla restaurant. You can visit the C19th British-built watchtower by the cliffs to the North.
The bay is some 5 km by 2 km and is an excellent, safe location for motor-boating, sailing and windsurfing, all of which are available for casual hire. Courses can be booked in advance. The bay is a popular destination for sailing and motor yachts.
Other towns to visit: Mercadal is an interesting local town nestling below Monte Toro, which, at 300m, is the highest point on the Island and which has superb viewpoints and a café, and which you can see from our balcony.
Mahon is the capital of the island and is 25km away. It has excellent shops, a cathedral, gin factory and one of the largest natural harbours in the world. Harbour boat trips available.
Ciudadela is 30 km away and is a beautiful port of Moorish design looking towards Majorca. It has spacious squares, elegant buildings, a fine cathedral, markets, excellent shops and numerous harbour-side restaurants.
Other activities: There are lots of very good walks in the island. Bird watching is apparently very good. We often see pairs of cormorants fishing below our balcony first thing in the morning, as well as various varieties of gull, red kites and sea eagles.
With a car you can access the following activities within a 20 minutes’ drive: go-carting, trampolining, horse riding lessons and waterslides. There are over 100 beaches on this small island, many of which are accessible by car.
A comment from an Italian family who spent two weeks in August 2008: “… the holiday in Menorca has been beautiful and also your house has been very comfortable and with a wonderful quiet and view.”
A Swiss couple wrote of their visit in September 2012: “We had two very beautiful weeks in Menorca. Your apartment is a jewel – the French would say „un vrai bijou!“. We sat very often on the balcony watching the sea … The different blues of the water were amazing. The apartment is very comfortably furnished and well equipped.”
Other recent guest comments: “The apartment was a delight…” “We loved the waterfront position...You did very well finding an apartment in such a lovely position.”

I am a retired solicitor who has known Menorca since 1984.
I bought this property off plan because of its excellent location, size and spectacular views.
The property has great sea and beach views, whilst being away from traffic and noise. Apart from the nearby excellent Cala Tirant beach, there are many other splendid beaches on the island as well as great restaurants in the resort and in nearby towns such as Fornells and Mercadal. Fornells is surely one of the most attractive fishing villages in the Mediterranean.
