Bondla Villa

We have just returned from an excellent stay at Bondla Villa. The property lived up to the description - a small, clean, well-apportioned villa with a roof garden and access to a good size swimming pool. For the first week we had the whole property to ourselves and, for the second week, only one of the other suites was occupied. Consequently, we had a very peaceful and relaxing time. If all the 5 properties had been occupied, we might not have experienced such relaxation, but that's the luck of the draw! All the staff were friendly, helpful and efficient and the villa was thoroughly cleaned each morning.
We only had one evening meal at Sandray, because we prefer to eat a local restaurants. (Particularly recommended are Joecons, Martin's Corner and Johncey's and Coco's on Benaulim Beach. Sea Waves on Betalbatim beach was another good choice. We only had one meal on Colva beach, which proved very disappinting - perhaps we were unlucky). We frequently had breakfast and/or lunch at Sandray, which were more than acceptable, though we noted a continuing lack of prawns at lunchtime, which was a shame.
Our transport needs were mainly met by Victor, who was always prompt and reliable and cheaper than the other driver we sometimes used.
Set against all these positives, we only have 2 critical suggestions to make. Firstly, we had to ask for hot water when we needed it. It was always provided promptly, but I think that, at a 'Luxury' resort, hot water should always be available 'on tap'. I also feel that the Resort should be a bit more upfront about the rate of Indian Government tax added to the bill at check-in. Perhaps, I should have looked it up beforehand, but I was very surprised that, although we were warned that we would have to pay the tax, it currently stands at 12.5%. This added 5000 rupees (£70) to our overall bill and meant that I had to use my credit card to pay the balance at check-in, thus adding a further 2% to our bill. It would be an easy matter to add a phrase such as 'Indian government tax currently at 12.5%' on joining instructions, so that visitors can plan their budgets more effectively.
Notwithstanding these comments, I would like to say that we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Bondla Villa. We would be more than happy to return and to recommend it to friends and family.
Thank you.
