Stayed here in May 2008 at then end of our holiday travelling around Florida. The bedrooms were ok, clean linen etc, that's the only good point.
POOL - drifts of sand at bottom of pool, "scum" floating on the top and cover from filter laying at the bottom of the pool (extremely dangerous if foot caught inside filter), my 11 year old son could not use the pool. SPA, equally as dirty with sand in bottom.
POOL DECK also filthy as were the tables/chairs and outside toilet, floor covered in sand.
KITCHEN - mugs and cups ingrained with stains (had to go & buy our own to use), despite putting through dishwasher. All the cutlery/glasses/plates/bowls needed to go through dishwasher prior to use.
FRIDGE - not cleaned properly, smears of food
MICROWAVE - needed replaced, rusted at back
BBQ - meat still on grill!
SHOWER - doors dirty, just not cleaned properly, also the shower head
RUBBISH BINS - still outside from previous occupants, dirty nappies left on roadside which my husband had to pick up.
GARAGE - found cockroach (still alive!) and dead geko stuck to floor in liquid coming from the bins that were in there
OVERALL - too dirty and with pool unusable would not recommend anyone to stay here.
Owner's Response: The guest above and her family stayed at our villa from May 27, 2008 through June 4, 2008. At no time during her stay did she or her family mention any of these complaints. Rest assured that any complaints would have been rectified immediately. On the day of her checkout, the guest asked if we would do her the favor of returning her security deposit in cash and, as we try to accommodate all of our guests, we were happy to do so and stopped by the villa at which point she informed us of some but not all of the complaints listed above.
We want all of our guests to have a most enjoyable time but, unfortunately from time to time, there are conditions that we cannot entirely control. Florida is a tropical environment and insects are prevalent – it is not unexpected that an insect or lizard might venture into the garage. The guest did not indicate a desire to rent a barbeque grill and did not pay for one – the one on site was rented by the previous guests and was awaiting pickup by the service for cleaning. The renters arrival coincided with refuse collection, thus the bins awaiting pickup by the side of the road. We have no idea about the nappies but certainly would have had the manager pick them up rather than have any of our guests handle them if the guests had let us know. The pool filter was actually in place as seen by our corporate president who visited the villa before this rental. Florida’s humid summer and rain showers make keeping the pool deck and furniture a continuing chore and we stay on top of it on a weekly basis but if any of our guests request a clean in addition to this, we always do so. It is regrettable that the guests felt the pool was “unusable” although they did not bring this to our attention during their entire stay.
We are sorry that they had any complaint related to the villa and would have quickly and expeditiously resolved any of them to her satisfaction. We have had guests staying in the villa immediately before and after this guest who have commented glowingly on the property.
