Quintessential French Farmhouse

I have been going to the Dordogne with my family for the past 20 years and have rented many, many places. This farmhouse is a perfect farmhouse just outside the very tony Tremolat, with the best restaurant in the area at the Vieux Logis. Each village has one main original farmhouse on its border and I believe Les Volets Bleus is the one for Tremolat. This large house on a huge property has its original rooms, stalls for probably goats across a large lawn, ancient water sinks, and those beautiful blue shutters everywhere. Incredibly charming and real. I really love that most of the rooms open out onto the patios for summer living. Great for kids to come in and out from the yard and pool area. The heart of this house is french country kitchen where we had the most incredible meals and memories. I also love that part of the house has a separate entry with its own kitchen. I actually stayed there for a little calmer space and gave over the main house to extended family and kids to use. Perfect for everyone. All day by the pool, which is nicely fenced, or eating, or exploring. By the way, kids just love all the castles and prehistoric sites.
I also want to note that while authentic and original, the property is very comfortable and luxurious. Lots of high quality linens, custom curtains and pillows, good beds, real glassware, kept up and very clean in a way that can't be easy in the countryside but Janice, who owns the house with her husband, does an incredible job. Couldn't ask for more. Do ask her for tips on where to eat and shop and visit. She knows the region well and seems to know all the vendors personally. Go far a field and see it all or just stay close and walk to the village for bread every morning, send the kids to town to the pizza place, or book an outdoor table at the Vieux Logis for a special dinner. Or even closer is Les Truffieres just next door for a perfect regional dinner in another farmhouse overlooking large meadow.
I wish you a great stay at Les Volets Bleus and hope you love the region as much as I do.
