Well maintained 4.5 room duplex apartment on the 1st and 2nd Floor for max. 4 people, 4 family chalet on the sunny side of Grindelwald. On the ground floor there is the Studio East and the West Studio. Very quiet and sunny location. Fantastic views of the Eiger, the mountains and glaciers. Only 5-8 minute walk from the Grindelwald train, railway station of Jungfrau Railways Jungfraujoch "Top of Europe 'and to Interlaken. The village center with the new shopping center 'Eiger +' and the sports center are within a few minutes' walk from the chalet.

The apartments feature free high-speed internet access, WLAN, Wi-Fi and a dishwasher.

Coin operated washer and dryer in the house.

The Perfect Chalet Vacation

Chalet Moosrain has probably given us the most memorable family vacation of our lives. The main balcony has the most breathtaking view one could possibly imagine. As the cook for the week, I was astonished to discover that the Chalet has a kitchen which is supplied with absolutely everything you could possibly want or need, other than the food itself. There are two dining areas, one in the kitchen and one in the ample living room. And the cupboards and breakfront contain every kind of crockery, fondue sets, lovely stemware and just about anything you could possibly need or want for dining at home. The three bedrooms were immaculately clean and the beds were extremely comfortable. The shower water pressure was excellent and, of course, the water from the tap tasted better than any brand of bottled water. Grindelwald is situated in an ideal location for taking day trips to the numerous waterfalls, cable cars, villages with no cars, mountain hikes, lakes... as much nature and attractions in nature that you have time for. Although we had rented a car, everything seems to be accessible by bus or by train. The train station is just down the hill from the chalet. After a week, we simply did not want to leave. Our next vacation will be back at Moosrain in the efficiency apartment without the kids. We had a look at it (the apartment we stayed in occupied the second and third floors of the chalet and the efficiency is on the ground floor but still with the same breathtaking view) and it looks just as well supplied as the upstairs apartment. The owner is so lovely and we just could not believe our luck at having found this remarkable, perfect vacation hide-away. We recommend it very highly.

Superb base to explore the area

I am somewhat hesitant in dealing with owners directly as I'd been burned in the past but this holiday was plain sailing from start to finish.

We arrived at Basel airport at about 9:30 and arrived in Grindelwald at about 14:30.

The walk to the chalet from the town was steep and we arrived sweaty and out of breath, not realising that we really should have taken a taxi for us and our belongings. The owner was extremely friendly and helpful and invited us to sit on the balcony, having given us all a nice cold drink. Bliss.

I should mention the climb. It was the part of the day we always least looked forward to, especially as we'd been out walking most of the day. On occasions we took the free bus to the top of the road above the chalet and then walked down, but although less effort it took at least double the time to get there compared to walking. A minor irritation I suppose.

The chalet was very well appointed and clean, with almost all the utensils and facilities you could hope for. The free WiFi was especially useful in keeping the children entertained on their smartphones plus researching days out, etc.

Oh, the views. Did I not mention the views? Let's put it this way: no amount of video or photography of any kind can capture the pure majesty of the surrounding mountains. It was stunning. I'm also glad we went in the summer because the landscape was laid out in all its snow-free beauty. I'm sure it's beautiful in the snow but I suspect summer has the best views.

Grindelwald centre has a couple of supermarkets where we were able to get our self-catering food. Be warned though, prices are silly, even for fresh produce. In fact EVERYTHING in that area was expensive. Eating out in the evening for 4 people was always over £110. Drinks are pricey too. A pint of beer and a coke was over £10.

It was never crowded although we were surprised at the amount of Japanese everywhere we went. Everyone was unfailingly friendly, especially where customer service was involved. Waiters were very attentive and efficient too.

For getting around we used the half-fare Swiss pass and it seemed to cover most things, ski lifts included. I'm still not sure whether it was good value, given the base purchase price, but it was psychologically satisfying to get 20-50% off most fares, including a trip to the Top Of Europe – the Junfraujoch. Equally stunning and pricey.

All in all, a spectacular (if expensive) holiday. Thoroughly recommended.

Im Sommer top -im Winter etwas ausbaufähig

Zuerst das Positive : Ausstattung und Sauberkeit der Wohnung super ! Alles so vorgefunden wie im Inserat beschrieben !Wunderbare Aussicht vom Balkon und nur 10min bis zum Zentrum ! Herrliches Skigebiet,wenn man soviel Glück mit dem Wetter hat wie wir ! Viel viel Schnee und überragender Sonnenschein. Kaum oder keine Wartezeiten an den Liften und Gondeln ! Viele Ausflugmöglichkeiten die durch die guten Bus-/Bahnverbindungen (in unmittelbarer Nähe der Ferienwohnung) leicht zu erreichen sind !

Nun ein paar negative Punkte : Leider befindet sich kein Skikeller im Objekt so das wir unsere Handschuhe, unsere Innenschuhe etc. auf der Fußbodenheizung der Wohnung trocknen mußten und unsere Boards auf dem Balkon übernachten ließen, da sich nur eine Abstellniesche hinter dem Haus im freien befand !

Ein weiterer Kritikpunkt ist die Erreichbarkeit und die Parkplatzsituation der Wohnung ! Was zu jeder anderen Jahreszeit kein Problem ist ist im Winter ein Dilemma ! Wir wurden im Vorfeld von der Vermieterin darauf hingewiesen uns am weiter unterliegenden Hotel Alpenhof um einen Parkplatz zu bemühmen da es selbst mit Schneeketten für Autos ohne Allrad unmöglich ist die Wohnung zu erreichen,was wir nur bestätigen können ! Leider kostet der Parkplatz 10 Franken am Tag extra und bietet nicht immer Platz ! Einen anderen Parkplatz im Ort zu bekommen ist schlicht unmöglich,es sei denn man geht alle 2 Stunden an der Parkuhr nachmünzen !Das bedeutet natürlich auch das ganze Gepäck und die Einkäufe den Berg hinauf zu wuchten was selbst uns als sportliche Mittdreißiger doch schon zu schaffen machte !Als nächstes wird man gebeten den Müll bitte in den Tonnen am Sportzentrum zu entsorgen,was auch logisch erscheint da dort oben mit Sicherheit den ganzen Winter kein Müllwagen hinauf kommt !Dies bedeutet natürlich erneut 15 min den eisglatten Berg hinab ! Wenn man beachtet welchen Preis man für eine Woche Übernachtung incl.Endreinigung und Kurtax bezahlt ist es schon ärgerlich sich die kostbare Urlaubszeit mit zeitaufwendigem schleppen und buckeln und suchen zu verbringen und am Ende noch für den Parkplatz extra zu bezahlen ! Alles in allem war es trotzdem einer der herrlichsten Winterurlaube den wir je hatten ! Ohne der oben aufgeführten Sachen wäre er erschreckend perfekt gewesen

Sehr gemütlich - super Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis!

Die Wohnung ist eher noch schöner, als es die Angaben vermuten lassen. Die Schlafzimmer sind relativ klein, aber gemütlich und gut ausgestattet. (Gute Betten!) Die Bäder sind OK, Küche und Wohnbereich super. Besonders praktisch ist der Schreibtisch mit Internet-Anschluss.

Die Wohnung ist wirklich sehr ruhig. Von den Wohungsnachbarn hörte man gar nichts. Auf dem Nachbargrundstück wurde zwar gebaut; da die Arbeiter sich aber an die Ruhezeiten hielten, störte das nicht weiter. Verkehrslärm gab es gar keinen.

Der Balkon ist schlicht ein Traum - super Aussicht und gemütliche Sessel!

Alles war sehr sauber und gepflegt.

Die Vermieterin war sehr freundlich und beantwortete alle unsere Rückfragen während der Reisevorbereitungen umgehend und präzise.

Die Wohnung ist besonders geeignet für ein Paar mit zwei größeren Kindern oder zwei Paare, von denen eines getrennte Schlafzimmer möchte. Allerdings ist das eine Einzelzimmer im unteren Stockwerk (bei den Wohnräumen) und das andere oben beim Doppelzimmer. (Noch praktischer wäre es, wenn die beiden Einzelzimmer auf einem Stockwerk wären. Aber das geht aus Platzgründen nicht. Uns hat es letztlich nicht gestört.)

Bis zum Bahnhof und in den Ort sind es nur wenige Gehminuten, allerdings ist der Weg recht steil. Insofern auch für Urlauber ohne Auto zu empfehlen - aber nur für solche, die gut zu Fuß sind und z. B. Einkäufe auch ein Stück den Berg hoch tragen können!

Es gibt vielfältige Möglichkeiten zum Wandern und Spazieren gehen. Allerdings sollte man auch da keine Probleme mit Steigungen haben.
