Set between the Basse and Moyenne Corniches, in a beautifully landscaped garden setting, within a secure and highly sought after block, this 1 bedroom apartment sits above Villefranche sur Mer and is just 10 minutes from the bustle of Nice. Inside, this spacious, light and bright apartment, benefits from a recent high quality refurbishment and is appointed with top of the range Italian furniture, fixtures and fittings. From a large terrace and from each of the living rooms there is ample space for al fresco dining and the views over Villefranche, Beaulieu, St Jean, Cap Ferrat, are breathtaking. There is a dedicated parking garage in the basement. While a car is useful, for those who enjoy walking there are pleasant footpaths leading down to the waterfront restaurants of Villefranche sur Mer, beaches, harbour etc and up to the shops of Col de Villefranche. There is easy bus and train access to nearby Eze, Monaco and Nice and to more distant destinations such as Menton and Antibes.

The Cote d'Azur retains all of its long recognised allure, combining modern luxury with belle epoch and old world charm. Steep mountains fall precipitously into deep and enticing azur seas that provide a haven for all forms of watersports and attract yachts of all sizes description. There are safe and clean beaches with splendid restaurants having tables at which you can almost get your feet wet in the gently lapping waves. Mountain and coastal walks provide a wonderful way to explore this region that must still rank as one the most beautiful in Europe. Picturesque Villefranche sur Mer has from the 2nd century BC oscillated between French and Italian control. Its architecture reflects this rich and varied history, as does its culture and cuisine. It has one of the most sheltered natural harbours on the south coast of France and consequently provides a popular stopping off point for visiting cruise ships and shelter for visiting yacht men, which is how I first discovered its charm.

Additional information about rental rates

  • Prices include linen and towels, heating and hot water, electricity and gas.
    Prices do not include final cleaning for which a charge of €60 will be made when collecting the key.
    Prices do not include the provision of telephone and Internet access, but these can be connected at extra charge for longer stays.
    A refunable security/damage deposit is payable at the time of confirmation of the booking; this will be refunded as soon as practical following the visit.
  • For longer lets a telephone land line allowing internet access can be connected with charges according to use.
    A dedicated Cave storage is available.
    Cleaning during the tenancy can be arranged with an additional small charge.
    Cleaning at the end of the tenancy will incur an additional €60 charge payable on collection of keys from the local agent. This saves you spoiling your last few hours with drudge! It allows me to be sure that the next tenant will be greeted with a consistently sparklingly clean apartment.
  • Weekly rates will be reduced for longer tenancies: 5% for 2 weeks; 10% for 3 weeks; 15% for 4 weeks.
    Reductions for stays longer than 4 weeks by arrangement.
    The usual change-over day is Saturday, but by agreement other days might be possible.
    Bookings in 1 week modules with 2 weeks or more preferred, but other periods might be possible.
    Please contact us for prices for these special arrangements.
    Prices include all Taxes, but do not include cleaning which can be arranged with a small additional cost.

  • Recently modernised with top of the range Italian bathroom furniture. There is a good strong shower, large wash basin, WC and bidet. Walls are attractively tiled as is the floor.

  • The bedroom is accessed from an entrance lobby. It is a spacious, bright bedroom, with yellow ochre painted walls. There are double sliding French doors giving access out onto a large terrace which adjoins the terrace from the living room. The bedroom has the same marble tile flooring as the hall and living room. There is ample built-in wardrobe space. There is a queen sized double bed with 2 small bedside units and matching bedside lights. There is a glass work table with radio and TV. From the bedroom, and even from the bed, there are superb views out over the Rade of Villefranche, Cap Nice and Cap Ferrat. Not being overlooked it is possible to sleep with the curtains pulled back to enjoy the lights twinkling around the harbour.

Notes: The apartment is furnished to the highest standard and with white marble flooring throughout provides a clean and easily maintained living space. The kitchen and bathroom have both been recently modernised to the highest specification. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and access is via locked gates operated by a personalised electronic control. There is parking within the secure and gated grounds and a dedicated garage within the basement of the apartment block. Probably not the most ideal apartment for young children. While telephone, Internet and cable TV can be made available there will be additional charges for having these connected and for the line rentals. These connections would normally only be practical for longer term rentals.

General: There are regular markets in the nearby villages of Villefranche, Beaulieu and of course Nice has a world renowned fruit and vegetable market and regular antique markets. Nice also has a wealth of museums, art galleries and an excellent opera house. There are the varied attractions from the Menton music festival to the Monaco Grand Prix, to the film festival in Cannes. For those interested in sailing there are regular yachting regattas in Antibes, Cannes and Monaco. Coastal paths from Villefranche through Beaulieu and St Jean, and then around Cap Ferrat provide wonderful scope for most enjoyable walks with lots of world renowned restaurants and bars making pleasant stopovers. In Villefranche itself quayside restaurants mingle with the colours of local fishing boats and nets. Little wonder it continues to be a favourite with so many artists, writers and other discerning aesthetes.

Special Attractions: There are frequent sailing regattas, including some wonderful events bringing together classic yachts from around the world. For those interested in antiques there are around the old port of Nice any number of excellent galleries and markets, and Villefranche hosts a weekly open air antique market on the waterfront. For those who love music there are regular internationally renowned music festivals along the Riviera, and of course there are the special attractions of the Monaco grand Prix, the Canne Film Festival, and any number of other sporting and cultural events.

Other Activities: Provides easy access to the various sporting events, such as the Monaco Grand Prix and sailing regattas, and to a multitude of cultural events.

This is a very special place !!!!

We just returned from 11 wonderful days in Villefranche sur Mer. This apartment really made the trip special. It made for a wonderful base to explore the region (3 hours to Provence) or to do nothing at all. We rarely used the living room because we could not stay away from sitting on the balcony with its spectacular views. The view from 358 feet above the bay (per our GPS) can’t be beat. We had the great fortune of seeing a wonderful fireworks display over the bay on one of our final nights. The description of this place and the photos are really as advertised. The quiet end of street location was great. Shopping (food, pastries, meat, bank, gasoline, newspaper and etc) are all conveniently located at the end of the street. The village is with-in minutes via car or bus and walkable if you have strong legs (remember 358 feet above the bay). The village has very nice restaurants and shops and pleasantly, very few trashy stores for the tourists (you will have to go to Nice for that). We found the apartment and its grounds/common areas to be clean and maintained. We had very good communications with the owner and the local representative. Excellent instructions are provided for getting to the apartment and for all aspects (contact info, security, appliances, garage and etc) of its use. Thanks Jim for making your apartment available.

I've just returned from several weeks in Europe with a week's stay in this WONDERFUL Apartment. I can't say enough good things about both my email exchanges with the owner and the friendly welcome we received at the cafe in Nice to pick up the keys. What a pleasure!
This apartment was in a great neighborhood, in a gated property, on a cliff, with a view that was so incredible I never wanted to leave the balcony! I've been home two weeks and I can still close my eyes and imagine the view.
Thank you James for making this apartment available and I hope to return for an even longer stay next time.

Just finished a superb week in this wonderfully renovated and well-appointed apartment. Spacious, clean, lovely furniture, up-to-date kitchen area, and washing machine! Not to mention a private and comfortable balcony with inspiring views of the waterfront and the hills. Spent several days at the nearby beach, and many evenings enjoying the bounty of restaurants on the waterfront and tucked within the "vieux" village. Definitely the perfect location for touring this magnificent area. Do plan to climb hills in the village many times to completely enjoy the flavor, so not for the faint of heart. Although parking is not convenient, it is available with a bit of patience and circling the block a few times. We explored Provence for our first week in France, and enjoyed having the car for our day trips on the coast. Owner was nice to work with, and onsite agent was very helpful during our introduction. Overall, our experience was very positive and as "advertised", so would heartily recommend this venue to others.

Our trip to Southern France could not have been any more enjoyable. I have spent a great deal of time in Europe, but this was my first visit to the French Riviera.
Our flat at VilleFranche was the perfect location for our trip
and the view from the flat is indescribable.
I wouldn't stay any where else.

Pure Luxury

Just returned Sept 08. This apartment is simply to die for. It has the best view I have ever come across. We arrived just as day was turning into night and it was wonderful watching the sun go down and the lights start to twinkle. We sat there for 6 hours mesmerized. The actual apartment is of a very high standard, with everything in it you could possibly want on holiday. It's in its own grounds with full security, not that I think it's needed as the area is so nice, friendly and has a very safe feeling all round. Plenty of restaurants close by, supermarkets, take away with delivery and a fabulous beach. We will definitely return. James the owner is extremely professional to deal with and very helpful. Thank you for the privilege in renting this wonderful place.
