What could be more ideal than to experience the Colorado Rockies in a rustic but comfortable/cozy cabin. No crowds, no city noise; just you on the deck in summer watching the wildlife or soaking under the stars in the hot tub in winter. Totally renovated and decorated in a wonderful 'mountain chic' style, this cabin boasts designer touches: granite counter tops, new tile throughout, original sculpture and art. The Bear Hollow Cabin offers a perfect summer or winter retreat. The three bedrooms (two with queen beds and one with a set of twins), with a queen sofa bed in one of two living areas provide comfortable sleeping for eight. Six miles from Durango Mt Resort (Purgatory) and fantastic winter fun, 20 minutes to historic downtown Durango and a short hike to beauitful Electra Lake makes this a perfect location for any season!
The unique floor plan is perfect for a romantic getaway for two but with two living areas, it offers plenty of room for 'the kids' to hang out separate from 'the adults' of an extended family. A unique sculpture of a bear in a tree hollow greets you when you first walk in the front door. The cozy Vermont stove offers atmosphere and warmth to watch TV or curl up with a book. The double sofa bed converts this second living area into a second bedroom if needed. Just down the hall is a bedroom with twin beds, full bath (shower) and laundry room.
The second level enjoys another living area with a wood burning stove (with glass front and options of opening to see and feel the crackle of the real wood fire). A fully equipped kitchen and large dining table is a great place for family meals. The second bedroom (with a queen bed) and another full bath complete this floor. The third bedroom (with a queen bed) and half bath is on the top floor.
Look out the front windows and you have beautiful views of the woods and the 11,000 foot 'Hermosa Cliffs.' Look out any window and dense aspen and evergreen woods will enchant you. Walk out the back door to Electra Lake, one of the most beautiful lakes in Southwest Colorado where fishing is superb and the views breathtaking. A big deck with a large hot tub and dining area provide additonal outdoor living areas.
You are near the historic town of Durango but miles away from the stress and hassel of city life. In winter, enjoy a winter wonderland at Durango Mountain Resort (Purgatory).

We had a excellent time! Enjoyed the scenery. Cabin is very pretty . (modern but cabiny chic.) Everything you would want on a perfect vacation!
This cabin was absolutely breathtaking in both beauty, and scenery surrounding it! Perfect getaway, with Durango not 15 minutes away. If you need a great vacation to get your mind off anything, then this is the place to go! The hot tub is most definitely a luxury, for I was in it every night and morning. This cabin is very clean, and, well maintained. I will for sure be coming back!
This cabin was fantastic!! Everything you need is provided. It was the perfect location between town and ski resort. Went to snowmobile with "Pirate Snowmobiling" and then on to Silverton and everyone was great. One of the best vacations ever!! Definitely recommend!!! will go back with entire family one day.
Two families (4 kids and 4 adults) stayed over Christmas Break for snow and skiing fun. We had a blast and this house is awesome! Pictured do not do it justice. If you want a rustic feel with all the luxuries of home, this is it. Skiing was wonderful and less than 10 minutes away. We went to Durango only one night for dinner and had a great time. Durango is a great town - Do the Durango to Silverton train trip if time allows. Unforgettable! We hope to come back soon!!
Outstanding cabin - secluded and beautiful. Awesome hot tub on back porch. Easy access to Purgatory and town.
Highly recommend! It was out second visit and we plan to come back.
Our whole family stayed here before christmas. We had never been to Durango before. Snowed the day we arrived. The cabin was perfect for our needs, had everything a person needed. Loved the hot tub and the decor. We stayed another night longer management of this cabin was very helpful. We all went snowboarding and went on the Polar express. The down town are was beautiful. I would stay here again. Cabin had perfect lay out for our family and plenty of room. We love to come back to Durango in the summer. Thanks to Kimberly for letting us stay a extra night.
This lovely cabin is the perfect place for a family vacation! It is roomy and cozy with everything you could ever want. The listing description is accurate, the appearance and amenities are better than the pictures show, and the cabin is clean and maintained very well. There is plenty of room for reading, playing games, or hanging out on the patio or deck. The property manager is extremely helpful and available when needed. We would definitely recommend this cabin to friends and family!
The cabin is 20 miles from Durango, and it is a beautiful drive. We went into Durango many times and enjoyed the scenery with every trip. We visited Durango, Mesa Verde, Silverton, and four lakes in the area. The only negative was that Electra Lake was closed for repair of some pipes, but that just made us explore the area to find the other pretty lakes around. We found many places to hike at Haviland Lake and Spud Lake. All were beautiful and fun! The hot tub was an extra bonus that was enjoyed by all each evening. We all wanted to stay for another week - we will be back! Loved it!!!!
The Bear Hollow Cabin is within walking distance to beautiful Electra Lake and a scenic 20 minute drive to downtown Durango. Six miles north is Durango Mt Resort Ski/Summer Resort (formerly Purgatory). Mesa Verde is about 45 minutes away.
