Located on the east end of the fifth floor, DG #401 has SIDE WINDOWS for AWESOME VIEWS DOWN THE BEACH, day and night. And there is nothing between the 30' x 8' balcony railing and the Gulf of Mexico but sand and seaoats!

Destin Gulfgate is a small 65 unit family oriented gated condo community located in the middle of Destin, off Hwy 98 on 465' of beach which gives everyone more room at the beach. Being on the east end, away from the center elevators, means more privacy and quiet time. The unit was decorated in relaxing beach colors and decor to give a Florida beach cottage feel....this is the beach after all! Everything about this custom floorplan makes it one of the largest 2BR 2BA units in Destin with 1430 SQ FT heated and cooled, in addition to the 30' foot balcony, a large size fully stocked kitchen, plus laundry room with brand new side by side washer and dryer. The 2 bedroom suites have their own baths and privacy; lots of closet space. THE WHOLE UNIT HAS BEEN TILED WITH 16' DIAGONAL TILES. COUNTER TOPS IN THE KITCHEN,GUEST BATH AND WET BAR WERE RECENTLY UPGRADED TO GRANITE.

The Master Bedroom has a King sized bed with new pillowtop mattress overlooking a WALL OF GLASS with sliding glass doors to the balcony. Adjoining the MBR is a large Bath with dual vanities and a 6' WALK IN SHOWER. The Second Bedroom/Suite hosts 2 QUEEN BEDS, lots of closet space and TV/DVD. Adjoining is a large bath with 6' WHIRLPOOL tub with shower head.

The Living/Dining area is 15' x 29' with a 15' WALL OF GLASS opening to the balcony, in addition to windows on the side for a very light and beach feeling, day and night. Great sunrises! Queen Sleeper sofa, 55" Sony FLAT SCREEN TV plus Blu Ray player for your enjoyment plus secured wireless high speed internet. The living room and master bedroom have true High Definition TV service with lots of movie channels. In Destin, converter boxes are needed to obtain true High Definition TV; the owner of 401 pays extra to provide such converter boxes in the living room, master bedroom and guest bedroom. Most owners only provide regular TV reception (no converter boxes) but 401 has three converter boxes!! Netflix is also available in the living room. Both bedrooms have 40" flat screen High Definition TVs and the kitchen has a 21" flat screen TV with built-in DVD player.

Destin Gulfgate is centrally located, just two miles from Florida's largest charterboat fishing fleet and seven miles from Silver Sands Designer Factory Stores, one of the Southeast's largest designer outlet malls and Grand Boulevard stores. The condo is within walking distance from THE TRACK Amusement Park and a half mile from BIG KAHUNA Water Slide Amusement Park-kids of all ages will love this and so will the parents. . Also within walking distance to restaurants (Ruth Chris Steak House, The Back Porch), breakfast places, pizza, and more. Fifteen golf courses are within a short driving distance. Wal-Mart super store as well as Winn Dixie and Publix supermarkets are within two miles. Rave Movie theatre and the Destin Cinema are nearby.

This vacation unit is normally available for rent to non-smoking families (no unaccompanied singles under 25) for WEEKLY rentals with SATURDAY ARRIVALS from early March to Labor Day. Monthly rates for winter visitors are available November to the end of February. *Call for 6 month rates and March departure dates (no 11% tax collected with 6 month lease). Pick up key lime pies from Donut Hole and bring back to condo to enjoy on balcony

Drive down Florida highway 30A (turn right 1-2 miles past Sandestin traffic light) Go all the way until rejoins US 98 at Inlet Beach and return via US 98..

Have lunch or early dinner at Harry T's at the Harbor Walk. Day time adventure to watch all the boats from your table.

Have lunch or dinner at Back Porch Restaurant, down the sidewalk from Destin Gulfgate.. Use pedestrian gate and walk to restaurant.

Be at Harbor Walk on Thursday night for the 7PM Air Show and 9PM fireworks

Rent a pontoon boat and go party at Crab Island (Google 'crab island destin' to see what I mean)

Visit the Factory Stores at Silver Sands (6 miles east on US 98) on cloudy or rainy day. Hazardous to your credit card.

Go to the Village at Baytowne Wharf (turn left at Sandestin Traffic light, ask guard for directions). Go at night. East at Acme's.

Have lunch at Harbor Docks in mid Destin (Jaws II scenes were filmed there when the restaurant was named Captain Dave's)

Eat at Dewey Destin's (two locations: across from Waffle House and turn right on Calhoun Street just before Destin Bridge)

Tired of seafood: Mexican at Pepito's or Callahan's)

Stroll through Destin Commons (behind Bass Pro Shops, 2 miles east down US 98)

About Roland or Pat Guidry, Owners

I was the one who initiated, named, planned, designed, marketed, and managed Destin Gulfgate condo, as well as being one of the developers. And as one of the developers and the designer, I made unit 401 unique. It is designed as two separate private suites and is one of a handful on units with both a 6' jacuzzi tub in one bath and a 6' walkin shower in the other. 401 is also a corner unit with more privacy and side windows.

I was the designer and one of the developers of Destin Gulfgate condo and made my unit 401 floor plan extra nice.

It is designed as two totally private suites--you can get from each bedroom to its respective bathroom without coming out into the living area. I also incorporated larger bathrooms and an outside storage closet for beach items. I am also proud of the electonics I have provided: one 37" Flat Screen TV, 2 25" TVs, a kitchen counter TV, two stereo systems, and game port access in the living room and guest bedroom. I also provided two queens in the guest bedroom. My unit 401 is also one of only a hand full of Gulfgate units with a 6' walkin shower in one bathroom, and a 6' jacuzzi tub in the other. 401 is an end unit which has the advantage of side windows and also extra privacy and peace and quiet because the unit is at the end of the walkway and the only people who walk by your door are those who use the stairway rather than the elevators (not many do). Pat and I are very proud of the remodeling we just completed in January of 07--take a look at the pictures at Come stay in our pride and joy!!!

Wonderful condo with excellent personal service

We really enjoyed our stay in this condo. We had stayed at Gulfgate before, but this was our first time in this unit, and it was great. Love the corner location with views out the side windows down the beach! Plenty of room and very clean. Everything we needed was provided in the kitchen. Fantastic view from the huge balcony, and the high table and stools were perfect for eating the dinner we picked up from The Back Porch (just steps away on the beach) while watching the sunset. Also loved having the lounge chairs out there. The beach toys and chairs were a nice extra, as were the Bluray DVD player, HDTV, and the movies available. Liked having the two queens in the second bedroom, and my son loved the big jacuzzi tub! The owner was extremely nice and accommodating; we've never had a personal visit from a condo owner to show us what we needed to know before. We were able to check in early, which was wonderful. Also loved having the extra keys and the remote control for the auto gate! Would definitely recommend this unit and would stay here again!

I would highly recommend this condo for anyone. This is a corner unit with wonderful views. Balconey runs across the entire unit and the beach in front of this property is not crowded as is in many other places. The unit is centrally located for dining out and shopping but is beautifully decorated with all the amenities for just staying in and enjoying the beach for the whole stay.

Beautiful Views and Location

Perfect location on the Destin coast. Corner unit has huge patio the covers the width of the unit. And inside, you have an expansive view of the Gulf from the living room and the master bedroom. Nicely decorated in soothing beach colors. Everything says "beach!"

The location is perfect with easy driving in either direction to great restaurants and shopping. Front of complex is never crowded because the complex is so wide. Within a short walking distance to the left, you have about a mile and a half of near empty beach along the national park seashore. would definitely recommend!

Loved this area of the beach

This complex was very nice. The condo owner was very hospitable and visited us on our first day there. The beach area was somewhat private. The water was incredibly clear and enjoyable. We would recommend this condo to anyone wanting a little privacy and a very peaceful vacation.

We live in another Gulf front condo ourselves and love having meals, morning coffee, and evening cocktails on a high table that is the same height as the balcony we just equipped our Destin Gulfgate 401 with such a table and chairs. It really makes a big difference in feeling you are really at the beach if you can sit at a higher level to see over the railing and are positioned right next to the railing. Destin Gulfgate 401 is now equipped with a rectangular table, with four chairs, at balcony railing height, and a conventional round table with 4 two chaise loungers. And all of that furniture does not over-crowd the humongous 8' by 30' balcony. After all, a large balcony that directly faces the beach, with comfortable furniture, is the most important part of a beach front condo....and Destin Gulfgate 401 has it all!!

Needs serious makeover

Roland Guidry was very accommodating for our stay. He gave us all the information we needed for a nice vacation. I do have a couple of complaints with regards to the living room furniture, it is not comfortable. It really needs to be replaced, it has seen better days! The bathrooms could definitely use an update. I realize rental property takes a beating, but when you pay a lot of money, you expect comfort. I think a good update is long overdue. The view is spectacular!!

Yours is the first comment about uncomfortable living room furniture we have ever had in all the years we have been renting our condo and is understandable given that sleeper sofas are always less comfortable than regular sofas. This is the third such sleeper sofa we have had in our condo and perhaps it is time to give up on sleeper sofas and go with a regular sofa and love seat given that our condo is booked solid every summer anyway. If you are one of our loyal repeat guests, check with us before assuming our condo will continue to sleep 8 before you book your next stay. Most reviewers of our condo compliment us on the positive aspects of our rental activity, especially about our "honor system" operation: we do not charge a reservation processing fee, do not require a security deposit, do not require advance rent, nor do we have a cancellation penalty. As a result, we have a loyal repeat clientele. They also appreciate the following: we incur extra expenses by having convertor boxes at all three of our flat screen TVs which is the only way to provide TRUE high definition TV most people come to expect. Each TV has a Blu Ray player. We also provide remote control "clickers" for the automobile gate at no extra expense; we have just replaced our one piece stacked washer-dryer with a brand new Maytag side-by-side set; we have a beach item closet stocked with floats, boogie boards, beach toys, etc. for our guests to use; we have the best housekeeper on the beach who usually has the condo ready for the next guests by noon for Saturday arrivals; our condo is a corner unit with side windows and is on the quiet side of the building furthest from the noise at the elevator and trash chute; and, most importantly, we live 10 minutes away from the condo and check the condo to make sure everything is in working order before our guests arrive. And we meet each arriving guest to acquaint them with the electronics and other features of our condo. As the developer of Destin Gulfgate and the one who designed the whole complex, I take great pride in my creation and do everything in my power to make a stay in my condo an enjoyable experience for my guests. Although Destin Gulfgate 401 was the highest grossing condo unit during 2014--which means we did not need to upgrade our condo---we took Candy's comments seriously and totally remodeled the master bath and replaced the living room sleeper sofa Go to

The video and description of Unit #401 did not do it justice. Seeing and experiencing it in person was amazing. It has everything you could ask for and more (including an amazing view). We look forward to our next stay. Roland and Pat go out of their way to make it feel like a home away from home.
